Deacon fell forward off his cot and face planted on the floor of his room. He opened his eyes to see light streaming through the window. He heard a rustling like a stone bouncing off wooden slats. Jumping straight up to his feet he realized the Adventurer’s Die must have been in his hand when he fell off the cot. Head oscillating right and left, he spotted it bounce through the shaft of light coming through the window. Diving at it like an outfielder, Deacon stretched his right hand out to arrest its movement before it could land on one of the numbers activating one use for today. As the die was in reach there came a loud banging on the door. Distracted he missed his chance to catch it and the die came to rest on the number three.
Acting quickly Deacon let his aura loose and grabbed the D6. He then heard a woman’s scream from the hallway. Putting the item in his satchel, pondering if he’s ever put that bag down, he flung the door open to see Sophie squaring up with an honest to goodness abomination. It had the head and hood of a cobra but with the body of brown bear. Complete with a snake tail. It raised up on its hindquarters and spit some kind of fluid at Sophie. Deacon was already in motion when this happened but low and behold one of Sophie’s many tattoos launched out of her waist. It looked like a knight with large tower shield. It took the spray to the shield and as it ate away at the construct it started to dissipate.
“What the hell is this? We are on the fourth floor. It will take too long for others to come help. We must kill it! Party up with me.” Sophie commanded.
“Sure. I don’t know how.” Deacon said as he interposed himself between the monster and Sophie.
“Just accept from your slate. I’ll keep it busy.” Sophie yelled charging around him thrusting her arms forward. Two long swords shot out embedding themselves to the hilt in the beast. It bellowed the deepest hiss Deacon could imagine.
Party Invite- Guild member Sophie Turner has invited you to join her party. Joining a party allows you to see your party members health, mana, and stamina. If a party member can inspect, the information is shared with the party. Skill growth will count for all members as well. Join the party Yes/No.
Deacon mentally smashed yes. Deacon immediately saw Sophie’s details hovering above her head and he could now see the monsters details:
Cobeara-The Cobeara is a creature that shouldn’t be. A victim of magical experimentation, it can spit acid up to twenty feet and has the raw power of a bear. Level thirteen/ Monster/ Hybrid
“Holy crap it’s a Cobeara! Kill it!” Deacon yelled.
“That’s what I’m trying to do, a little help would be appreciated.” Sophie said.
“Right.” Deacon replied as he grabbed his right hand with his left and began forcing a Nether Beam to fire upon the Cobeara. He hit it square in the chest, unfortunately it was a lot of bear body and only served to get its attention. That was what Sophie was waiting for, she then pointed her inner forearm at it and a ball of fire shot out at its head. She managed to burn a hole through the hood on its right side eliciting another loud hiss. That must have been it for the monster as it swiped at her with its right claw scoring four claw marks across her chest and shoulders. Deacon saw as her health dropped by fifty percent. She apparently had a bleeding status since there was a red drop next to her name. The Cobeara wasn’t having a good time between the swords and the fireball its health was below 20%. Deacon needed to do something, this was all happening so fast, and this hallway was too tight for this fight. He began twisting both of his hands and focusing his aura in front of him. The change in temperature around Deacon quickly solidified to spinning blades of ice. Focusing his intent, he pushed forward just like Sophie did with her abilities. Both blades spun out and toward the Cobeara biting deeply into its fur. Deacon kept twisting his arms noticing the blades kept up with his tempo. Blood sprayed all over the hallway as the creature collapsed to the ground.

Deacon immediately turned to Sophie who looked like her health just ticked up a little. Cresting the top of the stairs was a fully kitted out Jacob. He was dressed head to toe in bone white plate mail and being followed by what sounded like the rest of the guild. Jacobs arms had long blades protruding the forearms and his eyes were wide. Deacon was standing above a still bleeding Sophie, glowing green eyes shining with pulsating glowing green veins in his arms running up to his shoulders in the dark hallway.
“Wait a minute. I can explain, we just fought a Cobeara.” Deacon pointed behind him to the now still form of the creature.
“Stop he’s telling the truth.” Sophie said pushing herself to her feet against the wall.
“You have to admit this does not look good. What the hell is a Cobeara?” Jacob asked.
“It just appeared in the hallway. I was trying to wake Deacon up since he was supposed to meet me earlier.” Sophie admonished.
“Right, I was supposed to meet her downstairs, but I guess I overslept.” Replied Deacon.
“Great that explains what you two are doing here but not the damn monster leaking fluids through the boards!”, Jacob yelled, “How did you bring it down? It’s a tight space and it’s a big monster.”
“It was all Sophie. She took a bad hit, and I did my best, but it was practically done before I got my hits in.” Deacon said hoping his glowing features would subside before more of his new guildmates could see his more ghoulish appearance.
“Right. Stephan, get the cleaning crew up here and find one of the mages. Maybe they have an easier way of getting that thing out of here. Deacon, Sophie, In the room now.” Jacob barked out.
“Sophie needs a healer.”, Deacon said as he noticed she no longer had the bleeding status and her health showed an increase to seventy five percent, “Or not.”
Jacob shuttle them into the room and closed the door behind them. This room was not large enough for a fully kitted out Jacob and two other people. Deacon leaned against the window and Sophie sat on the bed. That left the area right in front of the door for Jacob.
“I don’t know what happened and there isn’t a way for me to explain the appearance of a monster I’ve never heard of before on the fourth floor of the gods damned Guild Hall. Somebody better tell me something.” Jacob said.
“Well, I am the Champion of Cheshire, this is essentially my life now. Unexplained events, wild situations, and surprises around every corner. I know that isn’t the answer you’re looking for but I’m not even wearing a shirt. How nefarious do you think a shirtless guy is?” Deacon spat back.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Jacob shuffled in place to get a hand around the knob to open it. This forced Deacon to slide onto the cot and it pushed Sophie whose health was now at ninety percent to the end of the cot closer to the door. Outside he found Elle and Typhus standing there smiling.
“So, are you experiencing your first Deactastrophe?” Typhus asked. Deacon sighed because he knew that was too good and would absolutely stick.
