Chapter 97 - Konoha 03.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV

Fire Country, Year 36.

...

...

Minato followed Kushina out of the place, while the clan members carried the bodies to their respective properties. Even someone from the Senju clan, one of the few who still remained in the village, came and took their deceased member to be buried.

"You shouldn't go bury that member?" Minato commented.

"I don't need to go, Mito asked me to just attend the funeral; the burial was something they could handle," Kushina commented as they walked side by side towards the forest.

They continued walking in silence for a while until they stopped at a place well-known to them.

"We've arrived here..." Kushina murmured.

"Maybe we walk so much that we don't even notice the distance covered..." Minato spoke while analyzing the area, noting some felled trees and even many holes in the ground due to explosive seals and the rasenshuriken, from when he was learning both, in addition to other jutsus and training with thousands of weights on his body.

"It seems like it was just yesterday that I found you here trying to make those seals..." Kushina murmured with some blush on her face.

"It's true, to think that it's been a few years..." Minato murmured, his life looked at from an angle behind seemed to have a strange feeling when he thought about these things.

"Come with me," Minato requested, and Kushina followed him to one side of the terrain and down a bit to the stream where they even trained together.

"You always seem to like this place..." Kushina murmured looking at the river flowing.

"You could say that, I brought some things for us to eat," Minato said, after all, he had woken up earlier preparing something to eat and put it in his scroll, lucky for him to have made some more than usual, which would be enough to share with Kushina.

"Really?" Kushina seemed quite cheerful about it as she smiled at Minato.

"Let's get settled first," Minato suggested as he took out a large towel and spread it on the riverbank. He took the scroll and began to summon all the food he had stored and placed it over the towel while Kushina settled next to Minato, keeping her legs to the side adjusting her black dress.

Minato smiled seeing the girl next to him grab the food and start eating, he had saved it for lunch, but since it was already mid-morning, there was no reason not to eat.

Kushina quickly devoured the food while having an expression of pleasure closing her eyes to it. He ate calmly until the food was finally mostly consumed by Kushina, who seemed satisfied as she patted her stomach.

"This was great," she spoke and looked at Minato, who had his eyes on the river and found it peculiar.

"This stream... you know, ever since I've known you, you've always looked strangely at these waters. Is there something special about them besides your training?" she asked curiously, and Minato nodded without taking his eyes off the waters. "It's where everything started," he commented calmly, still remembering that day, a few years before meeting Kushina or even before entering the academy, it was one of the first moments he realized he was in this world.

His tone seemed melancholic, and even Kushina looked at him surprised, not understanding what his words meant. She just moved closer to him, placing her shoulder against his. They spent some time there in silence, until she decided to break it. "And how was your mission? I heard some things yesterday from myths... I heard you saved the Damayo..."

"Yes, we managed to rescue him in the end," Minato nodded.

"No," she countered, "I'm saying that you managed to save the lord of fire alone, that's what she was talking about." She commented.

"Well, that's true," he nodded, speaking in a calm tone.

"But that's incredible, Minato. You don't seem to be acting like the ninja who saved the most important person in this country... No wonder those ninjas were looking at you at the funeral," she spoke, after all, there were many looks directed at Minato and many gossips throughout the morning that Minato even overheard, but didn't pay much attention.

"Well, I just did what was best for the Village, and that's what I'll always do," Minato spoke sincerely. He didn't have much more to gain besides the Raijin of the village. Something that now he already had, the only thing Minato needed is just to stay strong and strengthen what he was already good at, so that he can face all the challenges that would come forward during his life.

"I think you're already a hero, Minato..." she said with admiration and went back to asking about his colleagues. "How were Hanabi and Mikoto?" Kushina was curious.

The mission was quite challenging in some parts... But they were of great help often with their own abilities, I had to lead them for a while until Sensei came back to command us. We stayed in many different cities and even went to an event at a street festival in a town near the capital. It was quite fun, there were Chinese dragons and people wearing costumes and masks..." Minato said.

"A festival with costumes and masks..." This seemed to affect Kushina a bit, as she ended up having a somewhat sad expression. "But I'm glad you had fun..." she smiled with her eyes closed, but clearly seemed a bit bothered.

"Who knows, one day... I'd also love to go to the festival with you," she commented. Minato heard this and nodded his head. The girl was stuck in the Village and would be for a long time.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

"Why don't we leave the Village for a bit?" Minato suddenly had an idea and asked her, deciding to have a whole day with the girl.

"What do you mean by that?" She asked him, startled, as he just smiled. He looked at his towel and decided to pack it up while Kushina was a bit stunned as she got up, wondering what he meant.

"And Minato, what did you mean by that? I don't understand, Dattebane!" She exclaimed in her unique way, but Minato ignored it and managed to pack up everything and put them back into his scroll. He just looked at her and smiled and, before she realized, he touched her hand and the next moment they had disappeared.

"What is this, Kushina?" she yelled surprised, finding herself on the South Coast at that moment, Minato had used his seal to the place where he had trained with Guren for many days.

"We are precisely in the south of the country," He said with a small smile, a bit tired from the amount of chakra he spent to teleport them.

"Minato, did you really bring me here?" Kushina murmured, not believing she was outside the Village. She knew it was possible to do this thanks to the technique Minato had learned, but she never expected that she would just leave the Village like that.

"Oh, it looks like he noticed us," Minato murmured, and Kushina looked curious as from the water emerged the blue carp with horns.

"Minato, hello!" Guren shouted, feeling the joy of seeing the old friend.

"Hello, Guren. I see you haven't taken off the weights, so you're training," Minato looked satisfied, while Kushina was stunned.

"A talking fish?" she murmured.

"Wow! You brought someone else?" he commented, looking at Kushina on the shore and turned his attention back to Minato. "This girl, is she by any chance your girlfriend?" He seemed startled by the question, making Minato raise an eyebrow at that, while Kushina became embarrassed.

Minato ignored Guren's face and shook his head with that. "Well, it's complicated," he said and continued. "Anyway, as for one thing, I had a few days off, but I returned to the Village. However, I will be leaving soon for a long time. We won't see each other during this period," Minato commented, and Guren seemed to nod with that.

"I see, I'm still training. I keep putting more of these strange weights with seals, but I'm feeling stronger. Soon, I will be fit to pass the test of my clan," he spoke with some confidence.

"Minato, what is this fish and how can it talk?" She approached them, looking at Guren with curiosity.

"This is Guren, a member of the carp clan. I met him right here. We have been training together ever since." Minato said.

"Interesting," she murmured.

"Anyway," Minato spoke, "let's enjoy. You are now out of Konoha and no one knows about it. So we can spend some time here and I will ensure that you are safe." He spoke, and Kushina seemed hesitant at first, but soon nodded. After all, it had been many years since she saw the sea, which she used to do a lot when she was in Uzushiogakure as a child, since she lived on an island. Now is a good opportunity to do that.

Minato ended up spending time also talking with Guren, while Kushina walked here and there, running and playing, she looking more like a girl than her current years could say, as she let that child side manifest.

Hours had passed and Minato was already recharged with his full chakra pool. Seeing that they had spent many hours there, due to the sun beginning to set at this moment, Minato had already fished some fish with Guren crying, seeing his kin being cremated and eaten by Minato and Kushina. In the end, he turned to Kushina. "Time to go," he said, and the girl, a bit dirty after eating her fish, nodded.

He said goodbye to Guren, who waved his fin as if it were an arm, and said, "See you later, I hope to see you again soon. When we meet again, you will be impressed by my strength," he said, showing the weights stuck to his back.

"I hope so, Guren. See you later," Minato said and disappeared with Kushina.

The girl expected to find herself in the Village again; however, they were in a completely different place. "Minato, what is this?" she murmured, seeing that they were in a strange city, while Minato was on the ground, regaining his strength, since he had teleported them from the south to here, on the other side of the country. He hardly had any chakra reserves left to bring a person this far.

"Well, you said you wanted to go to the festival. If they haven't finished, after what happened with the capital, we can enjoy the place," Minato spoke after recovering, breathing heavily, and Kushina seemed quite intrigued by that.

"But Minato, I'm all dirty, dattebane!" She yelled at him, since she didn't want to go on a sort of date with him in that state, after having run and explored the beach all afternoon.

"It's okay. Let's stop at a store and buy a dress for you," he said, and she felt somewhat relieved.

"But Minato... are you going to spend money like that on me?" She hesitated, not wanting him to spend the money he worked hard to earn.

"For you, Kushina. It's no problem," he said with a smile as the girl didn't know where to hide her face with that.

"Okay... if you say so..." She murmured softly.

In the end, Kushina appeared all dressed up and, surprisingly, there was an event with a different theme that night. It was a celebration of joy for the return of the Daimyō and the safety of his family by the ninjas of Konoha. It was something that all the northern cities were celebrating, after the terrible kidnapping and attack in the capital.

Then, they went to a store where she bought a dress she really liked and got ready in a women's restroom.

Minato made it a point to use the money he had earned on the mission, which was a very high amount for him to worry about.

"You look beautiful," Minato said with a smile, still wearing his mourning clothes. However, since they were discreet clothes, he did not mind continuing to wear them.

"Thank you..." She said again, embarrassed by the compliment. "Shall we go to the festival?" She asked with some enthusiasm, and Minato felt the same, and both started their evening together.
