Chapter 2: Adventure

Once Kryse watched Apro fly away, he turned around and headed towards the village in Incarnam. At some distance away from the village, he was greeted by another eagle beastman who introduced himself as Master Yakasi. Like Master Apro Simate, Master Yakasi was also wearing a green and black leather armor with brown gauntlets and brown leg guards. Master Yakasi looked at Kryse up and down before smiling.

"Welcome to Incarnam! I see you are a young adventurer. Care to listen to some of my advice?"

"Sure." Kryse agreed after pondering for a few seconds. The master before him was a veteran who fought many wars and experienced many adventures. Advice from such a strong figure would prove useful for him later on.

"The writings that you find in the books and in the ruins are not only sources of wisdom and knowledge, but also packed with information about adventure! Isn't that what you are looking for?"

"Yes, you're right."

"However, young Dairdre Aming of the Sadidas and old man Lykhen Zisurvivor of the Enutrofs both have different views on what adventure meant. Why don't you go visit them and find out more?"

"Okay. Where are they at?"

"You can find Dairdre and old man Lykhen a few miles from here. They should be enjoying the warmth of the sun. Come back here after you talk to them, okay?"

"Alright." Kryse replied as he accepted Yakasi's advice.

Kryse started heading towards the direction Master Yakasi pointed. After half an hour or so, Kryse could see two figures wandering about in the distance. Hurrying on, Kryse approached the first person...it was an old man with a hunched back and thick bushy white beard. He wore a straw hat over his head to cover his head from the sun and a brown skirt that was native to his country. This must be Lykhen Zisurvivor.

As Kryse neared the old man, Lykhen looked up and beckoned him over. "Well, well...another young soul looking for adventure on Incarnum?"

"Yes I am. What are you doing here?" Kryse asked.

"I'm resting my tired old bones. I may look like this but you wouldn't believe all the exciting adventures I've had back when I was in my youth. Hunting Gobballs, tracking Bworks, I traveled across the many continents and sailed the numerous seas. I had even survived a dose of Maloria - a disease transmitted by monsters known as Moskitoes that can be found in the tropical regions. I've even challenged the evil Dark Vlad and...."

"And what did you gain from these adventures? Please enlighten this young rookie."

"I discovered a Dofus shining like a thousand fires and nestled deep in the darkest depths of a dungeon in the wilderness!"

"A Dofus?"

"Yes, you heard me right! A Dofus! One of those magical talismans - a real source of power! I couldn't take my eyes off that glowing source of power and you know we Enutrofs love our treasure. However...some goddamn bastards *COUGH!* *COUGH!* *ahem*...where was I? Ah yes, some adventurers snatched it from under my nose. I had missed the opportunity of my lifetime." Lykhen sighed as he reminisced his past.

"That was unfortunate. I'm sorry."

"Don't be. The past is in the past. Sometimes you'll have terrible times and sometimes you'll have great times. It's all part of adventuring...all part of life. I have no regrets. All the long days and nights I spent looking for that legendary Dofus gave me the chance to meet some incredible and marvelous creatures that I did not know existed in this world. I was able to travel and discover exotic lands and meet my most trusted brothers in arms. I hoped that you too will enjoy your adventures as I did exploring this world."

"Thanks. Enjoy your peace."

After talking with Lykhen, Kryse now felt like he had a better understanding of what adventuring really meant. He felt content with what the old Enutrof had said but he was curious as to what the young Sadida could offer. Kryse walked over to Dairdre and greeted her.

"Hi." Kryse waved as he observed the person in front of him. Dairdre Aming was a young girl maybe two years younger than him. She had grass green hair and bark brown skin. She wore some bark-like clothing and a straw hat to keep the sun away.

"Hello! Are you looking for adventure as well?" Dairdre asked.

"Yes, that's right. How did you know?"

"More and more adventurers pass through Incarnam every day before heading mainland to the country of Amakna."

"I was thinking of heading there myself."

"Things are so new over there. It's wild and exciting! They say if you're smart and brave, you can make a lot of money adventuring over there. I don't know if I've got either but hopefully someday I might, right?"

"Yea, well, you know what they say - fortune favors the brave. Maybe you should try your luck and go adventuring as well. Who knows, maybe you'll succeed and have fun doing it."

"Thanks for the advice. Wow, you sound like a veteran. Where did you hear all that from?"

"From old man Lykhen over there." Kryse replied as he pointed towards where the Enutrof was sitting.

"Hmm...I'll go talk with him later then. For now, I gotta go sleep. It's a custom of our god Sadida. He always said that one should rest as much as they think." Dairdre yawned as she propped herself onto the ground.

"Well, enjoy your rest. Bye." Kryse replied as he waved goodbye and then hurried back to where Master Yakasi was standing and talking to another recruit.

When Master Yakasi saw Kryse approach, he smiled and asked. "Have you finished speaking with Dairdre and Lykhen?"

"Yes."

"Good. They have shown you two ways of adventuring and there are many more ways out there as well. All you got to do is find them yourself. You can follow their ways or you can discover your own way of adventuring. It's all up to you."

Kryse nodded as Master Yakasi continued. "Take this book. It contains precious information about this world and the god you worships. In addition to that, it also contains notable adventurers who came before you."

"Thanks, I'll be sure to use it."

"I have other books which you might find helpful. I can give them to you...for a fee of course. But let's talk about why you're here. As you may know, the world is in peril. Monsters have appeared increasingly as if the dark forces are preparing for war or something. The only way to defeat them for good is to find Dofus. I'm assuming you will also be looking for Dofus. Do you want to learn more about it?"

"Yes."

"Good."

Then, Master Yakasi proceeded to explain what Dofus was and the wondrous effects of the power. After explaining about Dofus and its uses, Master Yakasi continued to explain about a very well-known legend that had recently been proven to have some truth in it, which could explain the unrest that the dark forces were causing. The legend was known as the Legend of Rykke Errel. This legend was about the friendship between a fearless Iop Rykke Errel and a mighty dragon Bolgrot. However, one day, Bolgrot got jealous of Rykke's bethrothed and killed her. Then, the dragon proceeded to rampage nearby cities in a fit of jealous rage. The two old friends confronted each other and Bolgrot died. Many people were curious as to why Bolgrot became jealous. But a few wisemen soon discovered the cause. Bolgrot was male...but he had six genuine dragon eggs in his entrails! The wisemen determined that whoever held all six dragon eggs in their possession could obtain enough power that may be considered to be equal to the power of the gods. They decided to hide these eggs from the rest of the world in order to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.

After finishing learning about the existence of Dofus and the tragic circumstances that revolved around it, Master Yakasi told Kryse to stay at Incarnam for a few days and help out with the village's problems. The place was a beautiful island in the skies and relatively peaceful compared to the battles in the mainland.

"Okay. Do you have any advice on who I should talk to next?" Kryse asked as he prepared to leave.

"Hmm...the members of the Nhin family are some of the most famous and influential residents of Incarnam. Why don't you go become acquainted with them?"
