Azula Alone

Azula Alone

Everything was going smoothly, until the day of the showdown between her and her brother Zuko. That was until she was beaten in the Agni kai. She lost, all the effort of being perfect, ruling her friends and citizens of the fire nation by fear, and trying her best to win both parents’ approval…she realized she failed in all those things. She also had to deal with her schizophrenic illness, which was why Zuko sent her to an insane asylum. After she convinced him to discharge her from the asylum just to help find their mother, she ran away after she was prevented from attempting to kill Ursa.

She felt the world vibrating and shifting into different forms. Then she found herself in strange surroundings. It seemed like she was in a palace but everything was different. She heard people approaching, she took it as her cue to leave. She felt herself vibrating again and the world shifted into the weirdest town. At least, she thought it was a town. There were fences and gates in front of strange-looking houses. The people walking by were wearing…interesting clothes with paintings on them. She wandered around the town and received looks from people. She knew she stood out and she needed to blend in. She saw a girl walking by and went to her. But she felt like she was being watched. It was dark as night, anything could happen.

She wandered around this area. Then she felt like she was being watched. Then there were two figures following her. She kept walking until she turned around to face them. The men were not men at all. They had pitch-black faces and glowing red circles for eyes. Azula knew this wasn’t going to end well, so she prepared for combat. The men charged at her. She dodged easily and flipped one of them over.

Amateurs, she thought to herself. She punched and kicked the men in the gut. When they were down, one of them ran away but Azula grabbed the other one and brought him close to her face. “Who are you? Why did you come after me?”

Stolen story; please report.

The man coughed and then vanished into thin air. Azula was taken aback by this and tried to flee. She ran to a rundown house and decided to settle there. She lay down and slept.

The next day

Azula heard the sound of something being broken. She shot up and saw something breaking the walls. A giant concrete ball swung to and fro, crashing through the wooden walls. Azula needed to escape. She fled. Then traveled across town until she made it to a beachside. It seemed like Ember Island but there were interesting differences. Then a dart was shot at her, paralyzing her and going unconscious and a shadowed figure grabbed her leg and carried her to an isolated area.

In the girl’s mind, she was falling into a black hole and landed at the bottom. Then there were whispers.

“My beautiful daughter” a familiar female voice called out. “You should try to change your way of thinking. Someone will love you” " her mother said with a kind voice. Azula didn’t think that this was the right time for her to appear. “You need to let down your walls or you will lose whatever piece is left of you”.

“Shut up!” she said as she tried to bend fire at her. But nothing came out of her fists. “Azula, you should know that I only want what is best for you”.

“SHUT UP!” she screamed. Her eyes shot open and she was sweating. Then she looked around. She was in a traditional Minka. She walked out of the room and tried to find a way out. She saw a window and looked to see where she was at the moment. There were some items and walls that looked like she was in a…temple?!

At least it appeared to be a temple. Then she heard footsteps, and a man speaking in Japanese:

“I hope she isn’t awake, maybe she will like this gimbap I got from those Koreans”.

Azula panicked. No average man spoke in a deep otherworldly voice. The man entered the room and Azula was shocked with a look of horror and confusion.
