Tegan flew over the city. Its been a year and now her rank was Omega instead of Greenhorn. She was reading a letter from her parents wishing her a Happy 15th Birthday, the letter was actually late since her birthday was two days ago but she still cherished it.
When Tegan landed she stood infront of a popular tavern called, Anansi. It was the only tavern in the city that sold the best veggie burgers, milkshakes, and French fries. The inside looked a little shabby.
But with all the Omen attacks every place looked rundown. She sat at the bar as someone adjusted the radio, the bartender was a fat man with a baby face.
"Kid, how old are you?" the bartender spoke. "You gotta be 18 and over to sit at the bar!"
Tegan looked at the man and summoned her dragon Patches, he curled up on the seat next to her. "Guessing Eli isn't here today? I normally just get my usual."
The mans eyes bulged in surprise. "Yes, coming right up! Sorry, Mystic Knight."
She was wearing a jacket over her Academy uniform. But this was the kind of reaction she expected anyway, she was a Dior after all and being one has its perks. Just than a familiar song played on the radio as Tegan smirked.
"Blasphemy!" said a random man. "These Omens are nothing but trouble."
"Ain't that the truth," a woman smoked. "Because of them our lives are in the gutter."
Tegan couldn't help but overhear their conversation and how hypocritical it was. People love to play the blame game, but not take a fraction of responsibility.
When her food arrived she took a sip of her strawberry milkshake before speaking. "Listen up boomers, were in this mess because of your mistreatment of the earth."
"What?" the woman looked ready for a fight
Patches growled.
"Smoking pollutes the ozone," Tegan explained. "Your polluting the air and your lungs."
"Hey, your a Dior!" yelled the man. "Your suppose to protect us and your taking those monsters side?"
"Omens didn't get here by themselves," Tegan picked up her burger and took a bite. "Humanity created them and as a result we were born to clean up the mess."
The tavern got quiet as she returned to her meal. She hated the taste of alcohol even though Diors have a high tolerance. Lisa tricked her once, the bottle of alcohol wasn't cheap but it left her feeling more thirsty. Another song came on as Tegan dipped her fries into her shake and took a bite, the food was tasty as she noticed her reflection in the glass.
Tegan saw colors and different shapes as she twisted her kaleidoscope. Loud conversation brought her out of her daydreaming as she sat at the top of the stairs. She saw a huge empty gap where the family fireplace use to be and wiped her tears.
"The food is so good!" her mom spoke.
Her dad laughed. "I'm glad your appetite has returned 10-fold."
"Hope you saved room for dessert," August's chair made a creaking noise as he got up.

It was Wednesday night and she and her mom couldn't be in the same room, doctors order. She got to eat dinner with her dad and brother 3 days a week while her mom got to eat dinner with them 4 days a week.
They had to be divided, anything fire related could trigger her mom to have a panic attack and unfortunately that included her. Patches tried to comfort her with cuddles as she quickly retreated to her bedroom.
It was around 8:13 at night as Tegan gazed out her window, her room was a violent mess as she escaped into the night. The moon and stars were out as she flew through the neighborhood. All kinds of emotions were bubbling inside her and she didn't like it. Tegan saw an empty space in the middle of a forest and landed.
She reached out with her hands and created a massive inferno, it was like she was a human flamethrower. All around her pinetrees burned and animals ran. Tegan was horrified and mesmerized by the dancing flames.
“BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!”
Tegan woke up to a familiar noise and blinking lights, she turned her attention to the Calamity Towers and fled. Outside was a ghost town as she flew over Black Lullaby City. Tegan noticed storm clouds on the west side as an Omen made out of water rampaged.
As she got closer she felt mist hit her skin and after awhile it started to burn, that's when she realized it was acid rain. Down below Tegan saw how much collateral damage it caused and probably some deaths. She lunged at the Omen like a speeding bullet as she sliced its fingers off with her fire sword.
There was steam gushing out the wound as the Omen tried to drown her. She transformed into a tornado made of fire and flew into its gut. Water still drenched her as she spun around the monster.
A gurgling noise escaped the Omen's throat as it blasted her with water. Tegan summoned spiked fireballs and tossed them at the monster, it sizzled and steamed again.
She rubbed her eyes and saw that the water Omen was reduced to half its size. The acid rain was affecting her sight which meant she had to put some distance between herself and the monster.
Patches took a moment to give Tegan a pep before she summoned another round of spiked fireballs. She aimed them at the hazardous creature, a hail storm of flames rained down on the Omen until there was nothing left.
Back at the Academy, Tegan sat in the nurse's office. Next to her was a bloody rag and a bottle of disinfectant. The nurse was a normal African American woman and she wore blue and white scrubs.
Several times Tegan flinched as Mrs. Soren wrapped her wrist and leg in bandages. Patches whimpered when she touched the bandaid on her cheek and coughed.
"So, the Principal gave you a scolding huh?" Nurse Soren said.
"He wasn't upset that I fought," Tegan explained. "He was upset because I was alone."
"That was reckless," the nurse agreed with concern. "Did someone dare you?"
She gave a melancholy grin. "No, it was just on impulse. But when I found out the Omen was made of water it was a piece of cake."
"All done," Nurse Soren crossed her arms.
Tegan hugged her dragon. “Thank you.”
When she made it back to her dorm it was empty, her two roommates were nowhere to be found as took off her dirty clothes. Her black and red uniform was filled with holes from the acid rain. After putting on some regular clothes Tegan gazed at her signed Mystic Knight poster.
There were lots of famous Mystic Knights, Dorian North was a local one but still well-known. Jonah Maverickson is a very humble Mystic Knight and is known as a heartthrob. The most famous Mystic Knight at this moment is Nikita "KiKi" Moon, everyone admires her because shes kind, strong and funny.
While Eliza Duran is known as the best Mystic Knight the world has ever seen. She was the teenage girl that helped Tegan when she was little and lost. At the time she didn't know how much of an impact Eliza would have on her, she was grateful. People all around the world knew her name and every time a new edition card was released for Eliza it sold out quickly.
Eliza Duran was a legend, she's the first & only Twin Dragon Mystic Knight. But recently that changed…a rumor spread that she went awol.
