My Villainess Plans Were Ruined by my Brother!?
Chapter 4: A Letter From the King

Chapter 4: A Letter From the King

 5 years old

After my 5th birthday celebration, which was once again held in the palace, a messenger came to deliver a letter.

It was personally sent by the king, who was very close with the duke, my father, and it held concern about the incident that occurred in our household three years ago.

To summarize, the duchess, along with me, were to stay in the palace until the war, which is at its climax, ends.

Why only now? Even I asked that, but apparently, the king couldn’t make a move since opposing nobles, who were obviously the ones responsible for the assassination, were preventing him. But he now has the excuse of having the prince socialize with children of his age.

“The prince needs to make more friends!” Or so he says.

What’s the point of sending us now? But apparently the war was reaching its end, and the land we acquired was to be split among the nobles who participated, depending on how much they contributed, and my father, who brought most of his troops, was expected to receive most of the land.

There were nobles who complained, saying how unfair it was since my father held an army equal to all the nobles’ armies combined, this then leads us to this current situation.

Our household’s security was at its lowest point, and the safety of the garden was a greater concern than us, which forced the king to take drastic measures in securing our safety.

My mother was allowed to stay with the excuse of “personally taking care of her daughter”, and brought 2 trusted maids from the household.

The only exception was my disgusting brother, who was in the magical academy, currently studying magic, is what my mother says, but I found out when I eavesdropped that he was at the country’s border, staying in a small village near the famous ancient ruins, which was at the opposite side of the place where the war was currently happening.

We arrived at the palace, seeing the number of carriages near the entrance, the number of children staying was numerous. An attendant came to our carriage and spoke with my mother.

“Madam, your rooms have been prepared.”

After coming out of the carriage, my mother spoke with the attendant, mostly discussing about what we’d mostly do in the palace. I then found out that most of the children came only to attend the tea party, which was to be held at the end of the week.

I was then sent to my room to rest, since we were to tour the palace tomorrow, and the attendant also told us about the tour around the capital after the party.

“The seats could bring great discomfort, if not fixed properly.”

I only realized her message when I was about to fall sleep, causing me to suddenly lose drowsiness and lose all focus the following day, which unfortunately, was the day where I had my first conversation with the prince.
