The Valkyrie lay on the bed, her bare back facing her girlfriend. Val buried her face into the pillow as Maya’s hands kneaded her.

Soft fingers glided across Val’s tense back, grasping, lifting, rolling and squeezing the sore muscles with firm, practised movements. The unfamiliar sensation made the Valkyrie writhe.

“Stop squirming,” said Maya, her face flushed. She squeezed Val’s legs between hers to keep her still—a recurring theme for her. “I’m not done yet,” she whispered.

“Mhm,” Val muffled into the pillow. “What. Will you. DOOOOOO—” Val yelped as Maya’s knuckles pressed into the small of her back and moved up from her tailbone in steady circles. Maya’s fingers braced Val’s side while her thumbs worked deeper into the tension.

“I used to do this for my Mother,” revealed Maya, rubbing Val’s sides quickly, making the Valkyrie press her face tighter into the pillow to repress any embarrassing sounds she would otherwise make. “When I was a kid, I’d massage her back after work. YouTube tutorials or Pinterest pins are quite useful.” Leaning down, Maya asked, “Do you like it?”

“Mhmmmhm,” Val muffled again. “Feels. Gooooood,” she drawled, clutching the pillow tighter and almost squirming her way out with her hips. Maya chuckled at the effort and pulled Val’s legs together with hers, pinning Val firmly under her with all her weight. “Gets the tension. Out… Since the. Draugr. Thing.”

Maya’s hands paused. “So you weren’t feeling well after all?” she asked, anxiously burying her fingers into Val’s skin. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

Val lifted her chin from the pillow, considering her words, something that made sense. But then, her tongue slipped. “I’m a. Valkyrie,” revealed Val. “We’re chosen for our. Valour. Our Proves. Our Deaths. We don’t. Complain… We train… We fight… With no. Anxiety… Until the end of—”

“I get it, Val. You’re strong, but…” Maya’s hands pressed deeper, nails digging gently into the scarred but smooth surface of Val’s back. Under all the sculpted muscles, Maya felt all the underlying tension—so so much buried tension and anxiety. “I would have looked out for you more,” she murmured. “You could have told me.”

“But neither. Did you. Tell me. Anything.” Val turned slightly, propping herself up with one arm. “We’re used to. Being drilled. Pushed rigorously. At first. I thought it was. Nothing. But I was. Wrong. I didn’t know. How bad. It was.”

With another strained grunt, Val rolled over. She reached out for Maya’s legs to stop her from pulling away.

“Tell me,” Val said softly. “How about you?”

“What about me?” mumbled Maya, instinctively knowing what Val was asking. But she didn’t want to hide it from Val. Maya began to share what she had felt over the past few weeks and the encounter with Aaron.

Val’s grip loosened. Maya wished it didn’t.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Val asked, fearing Maya would pull away, but instead, Maya rested her head against Val’s chest and wrapped her arms around her back.

“I was afraid of what you’d think of me,” Maya admitted, her voice straining. The steady beat of Val's heart anchoring her was the only thing keeping her from tearing up now. “I was worried you’d see me as a woman who couldn’t commit her mind, someone who couldn’t push beyond her limits.”

“But I told you. I wouldn’t.” Val held Maya tighter. “Don’t you. Trust my word?”

“I trust you,” Maya sobbed softly into Val’s chest. “But that man got to my head… he made me doubt you. And I couldn’t find the confidence to believe that someone like you is here, with me, when there are so many better people out there.”

Val brushed the tears from Maya’s face with her thumbs. “But I am here,” she said, smiling tenderly. “No one can. Change that. I wouldn’t want. Anyone else. Besides,” she stuck out her tongue, “that man. Was a. Prick.”

Maya scoffed, then burst into laughter that came from deep within, almost snorting. “That he was!” She sighed, still chuckling softly as relief eased her tension. “Thank you, Val. And I am sorry—it’s hard to believe, even with your reassurance.”

Their foreheads touched, and Val felt Maya’s warmth seeping into her and spreading through her body. The chill of her skin thawed up. She couldn’t express how much she had missed holding Maya like this.

“I will reassure you. All the time,” purred Val. “Until you understand. Until you know. How much I. Want you.”

“Heh, please do then.” Maya leaned in, planting a kiss on Val’s chipped lips. “I don’t know how I should repay you.”

“You don’t need to. But if you. Want to.” Val leaned back. Her chest rose to her deep breath. “You could finish. The massage.”

Maya couldn’t suppress her smile at Val's teasing. She readjusted herself and sat on Val’s pelvis. “You just want my help to get you out of the bra, don’t you?”

The Valkyrie nodded eagerly, fumbling helplessly with the straps. “Yes, pleaaaaase. Get me. OUT of it. Dúllan mín ♥.”

“You big baby,” Maya laughed, giving Val the mischievous grin she loved. “Arms up, babe.”

NOW THEY GET ON TO IT

😳

Extricated Val from the confines of her sports bra with more practice than she ever thought she would get, Maya paused. She felt sheepish about doing something so bold, but then she felt adventurous to explore what else there was.

Or what else she was allowed to do?

Arching with her back, Val teased Maya with her brashness, making her look directly at her chest. It was unfamiliar for both, but Val wanted her partner to look—and so did Maya. Mesmerised, Maya viewed Val’s exposed blossoms. Her hand tentatively wandered to Val’s left one and brushed her thumb over it.

An excited shiver passed through Val and travelled up Maya’s thumb.

“Why does it feel so exciting?” Maya planted a brief kiss on it, then up Val’s bosom in short bursts.

When Maya softly kissed her neck, Val couldn’t control her shivers further. She wrapped her legs behind Maya’s knees to pull her closer.

“I never took you for the provocative kind, Val.” Maya chuckled.

“I’m not,” responded Val, shifting underneath Maya to reposition her closer to her and hug her. “This is new. To me. I’m not even sure. Why. I want it. But my body moves. On its own.”

“Is that why your hands inch closer to my bum?” Maya felt the heat rise to her head when Val squeezed Maya’s bum. Val sat up a little, and Maya sat on Val’s legs. With one hand touching Maya’s stomach, Val moved up her shirt with the other. “I said. I’d make you. Feel. Appreciated,” The Valkyrie chuckled roguishly. “Until you know. And never. Forget.”

Maya allowed Val to take off her shirt and look closely at her. Her prodigious chest bulged out from her bra. It rose up and down along with Maya’s excited breathing. She instinctively tried to hide her exposed belly, but Val stopped her. Careful fingers glided up Maya’s ample body, drawing circles as they stopped underneath her bra.

When her girls were squeezed, Maya couldn’t control her heated breath as she wrapped her arms around Val’s neck. After the bra was unclasped, Maya squeezed her body against Val’s, who proceeded to remove Maya’s scrunchy.

Her coils exploded to freedom, defying law and gravity when they seemingly levitated around Maya’s face and blocked out the ceiling. Icy blue eyes, like the beautiful northern glaziers, opened and took hold of the gold–amber eyes of the Valkyrie, who couldn’t help but take in the side of her girlfriend.

From Maya’s exposed bust hanging down and swaying from side to side, her beautiful coils, her plush, rounded belly and then Maya’s piercing blue eyes, Val couldn’t help but put her hands on Maya’s face and pull her into a kiss to taste her plump, dark lips.

Maya slung her arms under Val’s armpits and returned the kiss to her chipped but smooth and prominent lips. Pressed against each other, their busts rubbed on the other, and Maya rested her hips on Val’s.

The Valkyrie shifted at the sensation. She savoured the chill in her core shift to become warmer. Her cheeks flushed when her tongue probed Maya’s. Her hand fondled her chest to grope every bit of it and then bucked when Maya rubbed her soft belly against her abs. Val’s lungs expanded when their lips departed, and the oxygen rushed through her blood.

Her fingers tightened the grip, making Maya buck a little, but not enough to pull away. A sudden, breathless gasp overtook Val, but also vigorous zeal. The aching of her muscles disappeared, her bruises vanished, and her busted lip healed.

The image of the shadowy giants in her mind disappeared. When she saw Maya on the other side of the beasts, she leapt right through them.

“Val, your scars,” noted Maya, “they’re glowing.” Maya touched Val’s glistering brown skin and trailed the white scars with her fingers. She remained seated on Val and watched how her body radiated light and steam.

White feathers, tipped with a soft orange hue, sprouted from Val’s back, rising gracefully like the wings of a swan. Val opened her illuminating eyes and felt like she had taken in an explosive amount of air to leave.

“Your wings are back.” Maya beamed and kissed Val, causing her girlfriend’s angelic wings to shine even brighter to banish the night and blind her neighbours. “I’m so glad.” A tear lined Maya’s face. “Your wings are beautiful, Val. Thank you, thank you for showing me them.”

Val cupped Maya’s chin. Her thumb rubbed the tears from her cheek. “It’s all. Thanks to you, dúllan mín. Thank. You.”

The Valkyrie kissed Maya again and enveloped them both in her pristine wings until they were encased in a dome of white feathers.
