A1Ch3

“Those damned creatures are still hanging on! Even with my holy edict, the faithful continue to fail in cleansing them from my world...” said Sahana the goddess of order and justice with a sigh at the pitiful efforts of her followers.

Shifting her gaze from the failed crusade against the demon’s stronghold to the hazy cloud like atmosphere of her domain. With a wave of her hand an orb formed before her, within it unfathomable possibilities.

“I’m in need of a new hero it seems...” Sahana stated flatly as she peered deeply into the orb with her golden eyes from beneath her robes of light. She searched many worlds for a certain soul, one to fit her specifications. She searched far and wide and on a world called Terra she found one.

“Oh? What a wondrous mind! Though their flesh is so damaged... I’d have to reincarnate them for them to be of any use.” She said as her face took on a thoughtful expression.

“Hmm, strange, very strange... the astral body doesn’t match their physical body and it seems they are under some sort of illusion... maybe that’s the cause...”

Tapping her fingers against the orb, Sahana continued that thought.

“Instead of using reincarnation and then waiting for them to mature in a new body. I could just use their astral body as a blueprint, a way to skip the wait time!”

Humming with glee for her own cleverness, the goddess Sahana began gathering her powers in preparation for creation, without ever studying what she was about to create. With immense focus and a surge of power released, her impulsive choice of a hero was reborn.

“Wow, that was more costly than expected ... Well... let’s watch my new hero’s first steps!”

Sahana falls backwards as a cloud like sofa rises to catch her, golden locks spill from her hood as she props herself up on an elbow. The lounging goddess waves the orb over to her, starring into it as if watching an interesting flick on a tv.

She watched in amusement at her hero’s momentary confusion and when she caught a glimpse of their face she commented. “Oh! A pretty one! She’ll be popular...”

When the hero left the cave she stated “Awesome! Let’s disband that dungeon and save some energy...” quickly erasing the crystal lit cave from existence.

“Pheew! That’s enough work for one day!” Sahana chuckled to herself as she watched the orb intently.

Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

“What the? Why is she rushing towards the only baddie in the area? I placed her there so that she wouldn’t get herself killed first five minutes!” The goddess said to herself in bewilderment.

“How did she know where that guy was? She be-lined straight to him!”

Sahana sits up and stares at the orb.

“What??? How???”

She muttered in disbelief at the scene displayed before her. A scene of inhuman slaughter.

“Oh, no... I have to fix this! How did this happen? How did I get ‘this’ from a human!?”

Kicking herself for her impulsiveness, she reached for the orb and began examining her creation’s astral body. Spending vital moments studying the orb before her, the goddess’s expression fell before it twisted in anger. She felt betrayed and tricked. She had inadvertently created a demon, an existence she despised and was trying to purge from her world.

Seething with rage the goddess Sahana rose to her feet and shifted her gaze back to her supposed hero, they at this time bathing in a stream. She reached out with her power and pulled their soul into her realm. In the next moment a dark haired woman in the nude was deposited onto the cloud like floor with a smack.

The woman sat on the floor in confusion before quickly covering herself as best as she could with her arms, locking her eyes on the golden woman before her. Flustered and confused she blurted out.

“Wha.. Where am?”

“Silence!” Interrupted the golden entirety before her. “Abomination! Within an hour you have failed your purpose and my expectations! I judge you unworthy of existing upon my world and in my presence!”

By the time Sahana ended her tirade she had gathered all the divine power necessary to obliterate the being before her. Unleashing her power to smite the creature before her, she watched as... nothing happened.

Suddenly noticing a presence, Sahana snapped her head to the left seeing what was normally the white clouds of her domain had taken on a dark coloration as if storm was about to descend.

“Well well well... what do we got here? A gift? You shouldn’t have!” Said a deep voice dipping with mockery.

“Luss!” The goddess Sahana spat out the name like a curse. “How dare you invade my domain!” She sputtered out in rage at the intrusion and interruption.

A mass of shadows in the shape of a man stepped forth from the darkened mass of clouds along the wall. His pale dead eyes fixed on the dark haired woman seated on the floor, a twisted smile on his lips. The woman frozen to the spot in fear.

“To think a goddess of order would create for me such an excellent candidate...” The dark being known as Luss stated, not dropping the mockery from his voice.

With a sickly sweet voice Sahana said: “Well if you gifted ‘it’ your protection, it’s only right I give a gift as well...”

Two pulses of power ring out, one from each god, battling for supremacy. The target of this struggle, screaming in agony as it rages through her being, until one canceled the other rendering her a groaning heap upon the ground.

The god of chaos, Luss grunts in annoyance. “Huh, you tried to pull a fast one on me Sahana? I grant her protection from divine harm and you tried to turn her into an infant as a counter? To use a boon in such a manner is so deviously unlike you.” He shakes his head. “I think this little reunion of our’s has gone on long enough.” As the goddess of Order stared daggers at him, the god of Chaos walked forward and taped the subject of this conflict of the gods upon her head and banished her back to the realm of mortals.
