Struggle

Pef watched intently as the as the Resource Hall Elder soulforged his wire-sword, spooling wire from a steel rod then rolling it around to form a hilt and guard, then extending the wire into a flat blade. The Icefire sprite watched as well, curious what the little human could use this flimsy artifact for.

An hour later, the Elder set down the new weapon and took a deep breath. "Well, it was quite a painstaking forging, this wire sword. Don't break it too fast, Holy Son." the man said in a gruff tone.

Pef just shrugged unconcerned as he took the sword and folded it into his storage ring. The new sword was only a toy model for the real thing.

Just then, the Sky Herald opened his eyes and sat up. "I have formed my third Star, Holy Son. Thank you." he said in heartfelt gratitude.

"Uhm. Work hard, fly guy. The road of cultivation never ends, and you're barely begun. At least you can be certain to reach Sovereign Realm with this method. As for later...I'm not quite sure myself. I'll need to read more books, I guess." Pef said in an approving tone, then held a hand to be lifted on the shoulder.

"I'll have to speak with Sect Master for your points, Holy Son. I think twenty thousand points can be added to your Sect plate." The Hall Elder said as he glanced at the still-glowing wall.

Pef just nodded and waved goodbye as his carrier opened to door and walked out.

"Head Alchemist, I just solved the points problem. Go talk with the Elder, I'm sure he has good news!" Pef exclaimed as he noticed the queue at the door, since many disciples and Elders had things to deposit or points to retrieve for their daily work.

"Good to hear that, Holy Son. I look forward to refining those pills." the Head Alchemist answered with a small nod, then closed the door towards the halway.

"To Elder Hall now!" Pef commanded as he figured out his next move.

After grabbing the Sect Master, Pef returned to the Icefire cavern, finding the Ice Saint still contemplating the burning Icefire.

"What it is now, little ones?" the Saint asked with a milder voice.

"Secret!" Pef teased the man as he ran towards the giant flame.

"You'll see it soon, Ancestor. Don't let yourself be played with by a child." the Sect Master said with a suffering voice as he sat down beside the Saint to observe the miracle once more.

"You have more patience, little one. I feel like strangling the little devil..." the Ice Saint muttered in a low growl.

"..." the Sect Master swallowed his words as the boy ran straight into azure flames than sat down in the middle, while playing with his new sword.

"Not even the Founder dared to entered the Icefire directly. What is going on?" the Saint wondered while he stared at the unbelievable scene.

"The boy had a breakthrough last night, nine Stars in a row. And he wrote a new scripture, still glowing from Icefire. The Resource Hall wants to carve it out and enshrine it in the Scripture Hall, for twenty thousands contribution points..." the Sect Master explained with a deep frown.

"Is the Icefire helping us, through the boy?" the Saint asked with a curious glance.

"Possibly so. Either way, your nephew has already learned this method, and gained a new Star almost immediately. The boy said it is guaranteed to work until Sovereign Realm." the Sect Master added, as inside the cold flames a certain adamantium ring was being melted and drawn into a long wire by Icefire.

In a minute, the wire was spun and shaped into a wire sword, blade immensely thin and sharp, yet pretty much indestructible to anything below Divine Realm.

Stepping out for a moment, Pef waved the weapon as a test then turned it sideways and threw it at the Sect Master. "This is yours. Give me the other ring, I want some modifications for my own." the boy demanded as he took out an water-filled storage ring and threw it overhead into the flames.

Grabbing the nearly weightless sword from the air, the Sect Master tested the blade on his finger to confirm it would indeed cut his Monarch Realm skin without much problem.

"Here!" the man said as he threw his own adamantium ring towards Pef, then handed the adamantium weapon to his Ancestor.

The Ice Saint cautiously tested the edge on his own skin, still drawing blood as he pressed a little harder. "A weapon that can kill Saints!" the Ice Saint whispered with a slight shiver.

They waited in silence for an hour until little Pef emerged from the midst of Icefire, now wearing a new storage ring and glowing from his newly gained Spirit Realm.

"Thank you for waiting, Sect Master. I'd like to start training the Inner Court disciples now." the boy spoke as a jet of water squirted from his ring, only to freeze instantly in the shape of a large ice sword, three times larger than the boy holding it.

The man glanced at the Ice Saint and sighed inward. Weren't they supposed to teach him instead? Was there anything they could teach him?

"Pillaging towns, are you?" little Lara shouted as she punched another uncouth bandit, high into the sky.

"Gah, you're dead, little girl!" The bandit's leader lay subdued under a giant sword while the small Legion Soldier dispensed justice with her tiny fists.

Punching a few more bandits in the way, the blue-haired girl landed beside the captured leader. "But I'm not dead! See, I'm alive and well!" the girl exclaimed in a childish tone.

"Just tell us who sent you here, little bandit." a woman with white wings asked in an angelic voice as she landed beside the young girl.

"... I don't know the name. A person dressed in a baggy black cowl." the bandit muttered as the harp in the woman's hands chimed soundlessly.

"Black Cowl, then. It seems there's a villain stirring trouble on the continent." the winged woman hummed gently as she turned towards the user.

"First, we go after that Serpent King! We'll look for this Black Cowl later. Hiding in the shadows, he probably is too weak or scared to fight himself." Lara decided after thinking for a minute.

'Ha, she called you a coward, orange glove!' the Ruler exclaimed in a burst of laughter.

'It is true though. Black Cowl is a despicable coward that never shows his face. I worked an entire minute to craft this personage.' the glove admitted with a careless tone.

"The Serpent King already? You're only at Emperor Realm, little sister. That demon is a Monarch Realm probably." the winged Avatar warned the young Soldier.

"I also have a Skill and this big sword. Should even things out." The girl muttered as she stomped onto the bandit leader's face.

The glove nodded in agreement. Crafting a decent struggle for the user was always fun, and humans were quite easy to fool.

Also, the Legion always fought stronger opponents, and still won. The young Soldier would need to get used to this.
