As I am undedicated on how to do the rest of the bathroom, and I got my high priority WC, I return to smithing. With Kira's new weapon done I better upgrade my own. I got a nice great axe for large opponents, but the only other metal weapon I got is a few knives. I lost half of my steel tipped arrows on the last trip. Making lead arrowheads is a lot more time efficient, but with my smithing skills I should be able to produce a number or steel arrowheads as well. Gone will be the days I use stone tipped arrows.
To use the forge I need metal. Heading to a vendor specializing in both ore and metal bars, I make good use of my analyze skills. I can look at each bar of metal individually and get a reading on the mixture. Some times I don't know to trust the skill, as the information provided by analyze is not infallible, but other times it is really handy. I look for steel bars with just less than 1% carbon. I also buy some lead bars, and a mold for arrowheads. I could have made it myself, but it came at a good price. Looks like it is common for experienced archers to make their own arrow heads with lead.
Back at the house I enter the workshop. The design of the workshop structure is a bit strange. Half the house is built with timber walls and the other half is made by stone walls. The half with the stone walls is for the forge and the furnace. The high roof and stone walls minimizes fire hazards. After producing a number of lead and steel arrows, I move onto my next project.
I could make a sword, got a lot of experience doing that, but I have very limited experience using one. Axes on the other hand, I got plenty of training with Lak. It is a simple high damage weapon that is easy to use and can double as a throwing weapon. I have picked up some throwing skills while practicing knife throwing with Kira. Axe throwing should be easier. I also need some steel tipped spears. All I got are flint tipped.
For the next couple of days I produce a series of metal weapons. I keep the best ones for myself and decide to have Lawra sell the rest along with the next batch of bows. She could sell the now obsolete crossbow as well. I pack up all the weapons for sale and bring Kira and Lawra to town. Kira wants to look for some work if possible. With her new skills we could take on a job together. I also need to find out what the final conclusion following the report on the orc mission with Lak, Teckar and Dain. The leader is debriefed as soon as possible, but the analysis of the mission along with any monetary calculations for the loot usually take a couple of days.

Lawra sets up her little table on a small plot of land rented by the owner of the house it is in front of. Me and Kira head to the guild. I start reading the boards, as much to practice my reading skill as seeing what open ended jobs are going. As I am reading Kira rushes over with another girl I have never met. This one is dressed in tight brown leather clothes and carry two short axes like the ones I have just made for myself. She has more of a seasoned heavier built look than Kira, clearly one who isn't afraid of a physical fight.
"This is Carna." Kira does the talking. "She just informed me that a mutual friend of ours is in need of our help. Her party was investigating goblin sightings near a farmhold west of here. They are long overdue. Carna is looking for people to help her, but hardly anyone is available." So much for the solidarity of hunters. I guess no one is going to risk their lives for people they already expect to be dead. However, Kira knows that I know that any females caught can live for a long time in captivity with the goblins, so there is still hope. I am assuming that their mutual friend is female.
"Ok, is it just the three of us." Carna nods her head. "If so I will need to fight on the frontline. For that I need some armor. Carna, please get all the information we need to get to the location. Me and Kira will get armor and inform our family that we will be off on a last minute rescue mission." We split up. Kira directs me to an armor vendor and runs to tell Lawra that we will be off for some time. I am still not sure how long of a trip this is. I guess I should have asked Carna.
Even though I will be fighting on the front line, I am not planning to wear any form of heavy armor, I have no experience fighting with armor. I settle for some reinforced leather armor. It should be not much different to move in than what I am used to and it shouldn't make excessive noise if I need to be stealthy. There is a thick underlay for the body part only. Could get a bit warm if I run with that. Both arms and legs are well covered by the armor. I am keen on not loosing any limbs.
Kira arrives and slams something on my head. "You forgot the most important part." She is right. I might not like the idea of wearing a helmet, but it is the most important part of the armor. Kira insists that she does not need any more armor, as she will be fighting from behind me. True, me and Cara will form the front line while Kira picks them off from behind us. We head to meet Carna at the Guild.
