[Hiroshima Orphanage, Hiroshima [1:01 pm]

It was a sunny day at the Hiroshima orphanage, orphans scurrying into their classes, all with happy faces.

Then there was me, the quiet kid in the back of the room, the first day I was there, every kid was eyeing me down. “who’s that?” “that’s the new kid, kotoshi I think was his name.” the kids said talking about me.

I was there, sitting on my desk, head down, trying not to attract any attention.

The teacher walked into the room. She was smiling, like she had a surprise waiting for us.

“Hello class, I'm Miss Kyogaku!” she said greeting us “Good afternoon Miss Kyogaku!” We all said simultaneously.

“I have a big surprise for you kids, but first, we have a new student with us today! So let’s introduce ourselves to our new classmate!” She said while all of the class was talking among themselves.

One by one, every student came up to introduce themselves, each having their own unique personality and quirk. Finally, my turn was up. “kotoshi, please come to the front of the class and introduce yourself.” the teacher said with a happy tone. I got out of my seat, and walked up to the front of the class.

“Hello, my name is Kotoshi… ahh I don’t remember my last name…” I said as the children laughed, “It’s okay, keep going.” Ms. Kyogaku said to me.

“For my quirk, I don’t have one…” the children laughed even harder.

“I don’t know where my mommy and daddy are, I think they’re gone.” I say sobbing.

The children immediately stopped laughing, and the teacher felt pity for me.

“Kotoshi dear, you can go back to your seat now.” She said as I trudged back to my seat, tears in my eyes.

“Anyways class, I have a big surprise for you, I’m sure you all will love it! Let’s all walk outside!” Ms. Kyogaku said getting the children in a single file line.

We walked outside, and the events that happened after that changed my life forever.

[Abandoned Parking Garage, Floor 4, Yaese [10:11 AM]

I run down the flights of stairs, even going 3 steps at a time.

“Kotoshi, run or you die. RUN OR YOU DIE.” I say to myself in fear.

As I get to the last step, the worst thing happens, I trip.

I fall on the floor as the silhouette walks out of the thick dust cloud.

“Y-you, you want to r-run little boy???”

The hooded man said. “W-what do you want?” I say scooting myself backwards.

"I’ll give you to t-the count of 5. O-once it r-reaches zero…” he said

SCREECH!!!

"He transforms into a pterodactyl-like creature and lets out a huge screech ”a rank” villain: “the cretaceous creature” extinction quirk: pterodactyl he can turn into and have the abilities of a pterodactyl, such as, monstrous wings, incredible eyesight and a tail that can pierce steel beams. His skin is also so durable, a shot from a tank wouldn’t faze him.

Being in pterodactyl form makes him bloodthirsty.

His crimes are: murder, disturbing peace, illegal use of quirk, and possession and the usage of illegal narcotics."

He’s the one from the news. Why is he here? The villain watch was in Bao Sai.

“I’ll rip you limb by limb!!”

He says giving off a terrifying aura. I start running as he starts counting down “f-five.” I run past him. Heart beating fast I fly down. My feet barely making a sound with each step “four.” I reach the third floor, and keep running down stair by stair. “i don’t wanna die, I don’t wanna die, I don’t wanna die, I don’t wanna die.” I say breaking down “three.” he says as I tirelessly as I keep running with tears rolling down on my face. “not now, sob I can still make it.” I say trembling as I push myself down the stairs. “two.” I make it to the second floor. “the exit, it’s so close!” I say relieved.

But before I took a step on the step something dawned on me.

“wait, something isn’t right. He’s not saying one. No. Wait it can’t be… he’s a pterodactyl, h-he has wings, he could just fly right down to the entrance.

I fall on my knees in despair with an emotionless expression.

“he didn’t give me five seconds for me to get away, he’s a sadistic cold-blooded killer. He’s playing with me like a bird plays with his food.” I say as the words roll out of my mouth while I'm left there speechless, tears rolling down my face, like a stream.

[Yaese Shipping Company [9:02 am]

Earlier that day…

After saying goodbye to Koto, can I just say how beautiful of a day it is today? Anyways now for an introduction- huh? There were some construction workers paving the street, they were blocking my way.

“Well, I guess this is a good way to show off my quirk!” I say about to activate my quirk.

I activate my quirk, turning me into a pure white being with two mini horns on my head.

I fly over the wet pavement, and fly up even higher.

"Natsuki Ikari, quirk: Oni she can turn back and forth into a creature known as an Oni, she can duplicate and fly.

She’s also 3 feet tall, way shorter than other Oni."

Some bunch of guys were installing an ac unit on top of a building, but the bolts weren’t properly screwed on, the people installing it didn’t seem to care what they were doing.

And it was about to disconnect, and land on an elderly couple who were completely unaware.

I noticed it in the nick of time and grabbed the ac unit all by myself.

"Not only can she fly, she can also carry and move around extremely heavy items unlike other Oni."

But these abilities come at a cost, her abilities cost calories.

I put down the ac unit on the floor and collapse. I take look at my body, all of the energy that was in me was gone, and I felt like I was starving.

“Oh my goodness dear, are you alright?” the elderly woman asked, “Yes miss, I'm just a little bit tired.” I said laying down on the pavement someone walked up to me. A calming familiarity coming from his eyes.

“Are you okay? That must have been pretty heavy for a girl like you.” the person said helping me up with a smile, I collapse when getting back up, clumsily falling back down.

“Ow… silly me, I just feel energy drained. Say by chance, do you have any food on you?” I ask him as I sit there giggling.

“Of course, always keep some on me! Here’s a granola bar.” he says handing me some food.

I take a bite, chew and savor its flavor. It was extremely sweet, but with a savory salty taste to balance it out. It may not have been the tastiest thing I've eaten, but immediately, my energy came back to me.

“I'm in the mood for some breakfast, would you like to get something to eat?” he said to me, smiling as he pat me on the head, I blushed and accepted the invitation.

Now is time for the reveal of what I came to yaese for. The festival of feasting! Where food vendors come from all around Asia to show off their food, so it was packed! Sweet and savory flavors fill the tropical air, as we looked around for good food from the many vendors! It was still breakfast time, most of the stalls were still prepping for opening, luckily for us, we found one that opened early!

We got some pineapple jelly donuts, some Korean BBQ skewers, and some lo mien fried rice! I found an open table, sat down with all of the yummy foods we were going to try.

“Look at all of this! I can’t wait to try it!” I said with my mouth drooling.

I tried the skewers first, they were extremely tender and juicy! Although I would’ve given it more seasonings. It was really good though! 7/10

We mixed the lo mien and fried rice together, the rich savory noodles, mixed with the extremely fluffy fried rice created a flavor profile that I really enjoyed! 9/10

Lastly, the pineapple jelly donuts! They were fluffy with a nice sugar coating, and the pineapple insides that blew my tastebuds to the moon! 10/10 we finished eating our food, we both felt stuffed, I pulled back my hair a bit, revealing my horns.

“Oh, you have…” he said quietly, too quietly for me to hear.

“Anyways, I forgot to introduce myself, my name’s Natsuki! What’s yours?” I ask him “Daiki, Daiki Yami. This meal was really good, you picked out tasty choices indeed." Daiki said to me. “Thanks! I have a really big eating habit, so when I see good food, it just speaks to me. Although after eating all of that food, I started to feel really thirsty. I’m going to get some drinks, is there any particular thing you like?” I said to him as I stand up and stretched, “Get me anything, just make sure it’s soda.” he said as I ran off to get some drinks.

I was walking over to a boba tea stall, when I felt a vibrating in my pocket coming from my phone

Darkness is around me, there is a sadistic killer on the floor below me, my thoughts fueling my despair.

I dry up my tears, still shaken by the fact I could be murdered at any second.

Vibrate. Vibrate.

My phone is vibrating in my pocket, it also has a comforting glow.

I check my phone, and there’s a single text on there, I read it.

[Notifications]

! Voice mail !

[Sender: Mom]

“Hey Sweetie, I got a call from your new boss. Listen, I am so proud of you! Seeing my son get his first job makes me so happy. I’m going to be at work for another hour, I don’t have to patrol today but I still have some paperwork to do, but as soon as I’m done, I'm coming over to your work, so sit tight okay? Xoxo, Mommy.”

After some spending some moments to collect my thoughts, I told myself I wasn’t going to die.

“m-my mom is looking forward to seeing me… I only get to see her twice a year, I won’t let her come here to see a crime scene.” I say pulling myself together.

I check my surroundings, is there anything that can help me? I look through the bag I found earlier, it was brand new, so of course there was nothing inside of it, then I remembered I was carrying a backpack of my own, I place it on the ground.

I open it and rummage through my backpack, and find: a can of pepper spray, a Bluetooth speaker, a whole bunch of napkins, and a half empty bottle of water.

“Nothing." I say to myself.

Either way, I needed to survive, so it was better than nothing. I thought about what I could use, and how I could use them. “Let’s see… the Bluetooth speaker can connect to my phone, and I can play sounds through it.” I say playing a little beep, but then I hear someone.

“I know you’re here, why don’t you come out to play? Hehe…”

Extinction says laughing sadistically.

“shoot, he’s here, but I know what I gotta do.” I say running up the stairs as quietly as I can.

I brought out my phone, and decided to make a call, just in case it’s my last.

[An hour earlier…]

Natsuki and I are in a phone booth, it was still upkept to this day even when it went out of service “anyways, I have to hurry now, let’s go.” I say to her.

“Wait.” Natsuki said grabbing my arm tightly, “Can we… exchange numbers?” She said blushing.

I, a person that never had a girl ask me for my number (besides my mother) agreed happily.

And now you know who i’m gonna call.

[Yaese, Okinawa [10:15 AM]

I reach into my very short pockets that can’t store anything besides my phone, maybe a pen.

I reached for my phone and someone was calling me.

[caller: Kotoshi Tanaka]

It was Koto, I immediately answered.

“Koto! How was your interview? Did you land the job” I asked him "I’m in a parking garage, behind the building. If you don’t see me, or I turn up dead, just know a villain named “Extinction” killed me. I’m scared, but I’ve already accepted. So goodbye for now.” Koto said crying behind the phone.

“No! You can’t just say that to me, and leave!” I say shocked at what he was saying “I'm sorry, if you see my mother, and she doesn’t know what happened to me, you can tell her.” he says to me.

Click he hung up, I was filled with dread after I put the phone in my rinky-dink pocket.

Tears of fear drifted down my face, but I knew what I had to do.

I ran to the boba tea vendor. I put both hands on the counter. “Two orange sodas, hurry!’ trying to hold back my tears. The owner of the stand acting quickly.

I got two orange sodas, paid for them and ran off in a hurry “Young lady! You forgot your change!” the owner yelled out. But I didn’t care.

I ran as fast as I could, if my body was letting up, it made me want to go faster. Nothing would stop me from saving my friend from whoever this “extinction” person was, whoever he is, he’s not harming him.

I reached our table, Daiki was waiting for me there.

“Daiki, we’ve got to get to the parking garage behind Yaese shipping co. Please do you have a way for me to get there fast! Please my friend’s going to die if you don’t-” I say tears rolling out of my eyes, “hold on, slow down. Okay, you need to get behind the shipping company building, because your friend is in a parking garage and he’s in danger?” Daiki asked, I nodded while tears are pouring out of my eyes.

“Follow me, my motorcycle is just up the road. We can take that.” Daiki said getting up from his seat.

He was already running, so I followed him, going through the crowds of people that were piling in.

We arrived at the motorcycle, my feet about to give in.

He starts the motorcycle as he lends me his helmet. “Hop on.” he said and after I got on the vehicle we were off, before I knew it, we were going about 50 miles per hour, I just hope we get there in time.

[Abandoned Parking Garage, Floor 3 [10:18 AM]

I quietly sped up the stairs, skipping 3 at time, and finally reaching the fourth floor.

I get out my phone and start making a video. “I'm not dying! Not now!” I say quietly in the video getting out the Bluetooth speaker, turn the volume up max, connect it, and throw it to the corner of the room. I hide behind a pole in the opposite direction. And I waited.

I hear footsteps coming up the stairs.

“Where are you???”

He yells out loud and does another maniacal laugh. Hearing this, I press play.

“I’m not dying! Not now!”

The Bluetooth speaker played loudly, echoing through the room.

“Come here!!! I can't wait to dig into you!!!”

He says turning into a pterodactyl.

Now’s my chance! I come out of hiding and run to the stairway.

I open the water bottle, and pour it on the floor, and I topped it with a thin layer of napkins.

With that, I run down the stairs, I reached the third floor when I heard.

“You think this is a joke?”

Extinction yelled that and it echoed to me.

I ran down another stairwell, for some reason smiling as I walked down, he didn’t seem as scary as he was before. And then I heard a huge screech followed along with a massive thud.

"What is this!?! Napkins?!? Augh…" SCREECH!!!

Extinction was pissed, and I was laughing. He completely dropped the sadistic act, and I stopped being his prey. Before I knew it, I was on the ground floor, laughing all the way. I walked through the shadowy parking garage, and was running towards the light.

As I got to the exit, I was greeted with a familiar face. “Koto!!! You’re alright!!!” Natsuki says running up to me.

Natsuki gave me a huge hug. It felt good.

“D-Don’t scare me like that… sob ” she says crying, I held her tighter, “it’s okay, I somehow outsmarted him, and now I'm fine!” I say to her as she dries up her tears.

“Why are you smiling? I thought you said you were gonna die!” Natsuki said getting mad at me.

I explained to her the whole situation, about how I landed a job, how I got on the roof, and how I escaped the villain.

“But wait, if you did all of that a minute ago, does that mean he’s still-”

SCREECH!!!

I escaped from “A” rank villain extinction, and now not afraid of him, but now, the real battle begins.

And it’s going to take more than a bluetooth speaker, a bunch of napkins and a water bottle to stop him now.
