Chapter Six: Starting Lines

Placing myself to learn of One-for-All by 'accident' wasn't all that hard. It makes me wonder if Izuku's obliviousness wasn't contagious. The scene was rather comical when I cleared my throat and they two froze like deer in headlights. I managed reassure them that I had no reason to ever tell anyone about the fact Izuku was given a quirk nor about All Might's wimpy form.

I did actually accompany Midoriya to U.A. to keep his mind from being an absolute wreck. The early morning made things easier to talk about his quirk. He indeed got the same trash advice from All Might. "Clench your butt cheeks and yell smash from the bottom of your heart!" God what a fucking idiot. I shake my head and decide to help Midoriya rid himself of that stupid notion once I got an overall review of what Midoriya knows about One-for-All.

"I can't believe that's what advice he gave you. No, not in a million years should you do that. Which is why I'm going to give you a baton." Midoriya tilted his head like a puppy.

"A baton? Why would I need a baton?" I shake my head at his stupid question.

"Midoriya you may have a quirk now, but you don't have any experience using it. It will likely still break you to do so. So, it's better to use a baton to take down the robots instead of relying on a quirk that will leave you useless until the end of the exam. The exam lets you bring anything you want in with you. A sturdy baton would be more than enough to get you in."

"R-Really?" I could see disbelief coloring his face but, in his eyes, I could see a small flicker of something in them. What it was I wasn't sure but if he could pass without shattering himself then it would be preferable.

"Yes, a simple metal baton or even a set of boxing gloves are enough provided you aim for the head or the joints. As of right now you are still labeled as quirkless, so I suggest you bring this." I hand him the collapsed baton out of my purse. "This is something of mine that I have a few of for home defense. This one should serve you well enough. Remember aim for the head or joints. Oh, one more thing. This is an exam to join the hero course. So, do your best to be one during the exam I have faith if you do that, you'll get in."

Midoriya took the baton from me and put it in his backpack after I showed him how to use it. He had a look of contemplation as we arrived at the front gates. The look on his face said it all. He was in awe at the building. He definitely saw the start of his dream, but all I could see was the darkening shape of a guillotine in the shadows. Fortunately, there would be one thing that wouldn't be happening today. A certain explosive blonde wouldn't be a problem, and I made sure that Midoriya didn't zone out in front of the school like a fanboy. Sure, Midoriya wouldn't be meeting Ochako due to this choice like in the original timeline. It ultimately doesn't matter in the long run.

If Midoriya didn't end up in U.A. it wouldn't be the end of the world. If anything, it'd be beneficial should he end up in any of the other Hero schools. He'd easily end up hidden away when Shigaraki attacks U.A. preventing a whole lot of problems. It could be better or worse and I don't want to experiment too much with the outcomes but if Midoriya would be able to gain control is a less pressured environment he'd break his body less.

I was at home having dinner with Himiko when my cell phone started ringing. Very few people had a way to get a hold of me let alone my personal cell number. The list is rather small. Picking it up I tap the screen with my thumb and hold it to my ear. "You've reached Kumo Akemi."

"H-Hi, Kumo-san."

"Oh, Midoriya. How'd the test go?" I feel a set of eyes staring holes into me. Looking, it seems Himiko was curious and demanding an explanation with her eyes. I nodded and she went back to her medium rare stake devouring it with some fervor.

"I-I think I f-f-failed." He sounded like he was recently sobbing if he wasn't already currently doing so.

"What makes you say that you failed? How many points did you get?" I heard him mumble a number, but it was a bit too soft for me to hear it. "Sorry Midoriya, I couldn't hear that."

"I got twenty-seven points..."

"Hmmm... I see. Why don't you tell me about it." I was genuinely curious about what the green haired teen did during the test and explain he did. He told me about how he managed to get points by using the baton I gave him. Some kid, (Probably Iida, that kid needs to take the stick out of his ass.) attempted to reprimand him for bringing the baton to the test. Apparently, at the start he spent his time beating up robots with the baton but after a bit he was too focused on helping other examinees out of trouble. Either by getting the robots attention or by getting them out of the way of danger. He ended up breaking his arm to save a girl that had rubble fall on her form the Zero point robot when his normal strength wasn't enough to lift it off. He used One-for-All to toss the concrete slab off of her and into the face plate of the Zero Pointer destroying it.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

"Take some deep breaths Midoriya, I think you managed it. There might be more to the test they didn't tell you. While you're waiting, start trying to learn some quirk control. You have to get it to a point you can use it without breaking anything. I suggest closing your eyes and imagine the power of your quirk flowing through your body. Get it down to a point when you don't feel any pain and slowly move the fingers on your non-dominate hand. Once you can move your fingers without trouble slowly get used to moving the rest of your body. Regardless of if you get into U.A. or not there are hundreds of Hero schools you can shoot for. I hear Shiketsu has a great Hero Program. It might not be U.A. but it's just as good. Heck even if you don't get into the Hero Program you can get in through General Studies and work your way into the Hero Course during the U.A. Sport's Festival. Everything will be fine. Take some deep breaths and calm down. Even if you don't get the results you wanted you still have countless opportunities in front of you."

"O-okay... I'll try."

"Good now get some rest and be ready to adapt. Good night Midoriya."

After saying goodbye, Himiko badgered me for about twenty minutes on who Midoriya was and why they had my phone number. Placating her took telling that Midoriya is a guy and I'm not interested in him in any realm other than being a friend and supporter of his dream to be a hero. I did however manage to railroad Himiko into studying for her General Education Degree online by convincing her that it would be a step towards getting a job at the butchery down the street. Math while annoying is essential for a job like that. Working there will help curb her bloodlust and want to stab things by letting her do it in a productive setting but her education is just as important. It helped when I said I was attracted to intelligent women. Was that coercion? Yes. No, I don't regret doing it.

============

My first day back at school and now in 2-A I have a lot to consider. Today is Aizawa's test for 1-A, and I have no idea why I'm here on the ceiling once again. I'm looking down at each and every individual that comes in the room. I've come to realize Mr. Aizawa is more than just your typical sadist. He's a sadist cranked past ten all the way to Plus Ultra on the scale. I'm being tested on how many of the students notice me until we get to the field for the quirk test. At the same time each of them is being tested as well. Anyone who manages to spot me is safe from being expelled but I can't let myself be seen by too many or I get a failing grade.

First in the class Iida Tenya, the typical prep school kid with a stick up his ass. He takes a seat and didn't even do a proper sweep of the room. He found his seat based on the board and sat down waiting for anyone else. Next is the beautiful Yaoyorozu Momo. She came in and she looked around the room as she passed under me. She found her seat and her eyes landed on me. She looked a bit surprised but I lifted a finger to my lips in the universal message to keep quiet. She simply nodded and cracked open a book she'd brought with her sending me glances every minute or so. The next two in were Ojiro and Tokoyami. Neither of them seemed to notice me. Next up, was Minetta and I was disappointed. He swaggered in like he owned the joint and he started drooling the moment he looked at Yaoyorozu. He's got no awareness, other than being a giant pervert. I'd rather Shinso be here over that disgusting pervert. Kaminari and Sero were next to come in with Kirishima and Ashido. The four seemed rather interested in one another over looking around the room. Class A's resident traitor Aoyama came in with Hagikure and Jiro not much after that. While Shoji entered the room he froze up a bit the end of one of his arms had turned into an eye and it locked on me.

Giving him a slight smile I put my finger over my lips to keep quiet and he nodded. Scanning the room I took note of Jiro staring at me with a bored expression. I gave her a wink looking back down as the door opened and in walked the Bomberanian Baka-go Katsuki. His attitude seemed a bit subdued. He kicked his feet up on the desk and helicopter Iida bared down on him immediately. Koji the rock shaped teen came in with Tsuyu. I'm a tad surprised that some of them had yet to notice me at all. Todoroki and Sato came in within seconds of one another. Todoroki didn't notice me from what I could tell and neither did Sato. I'm a bit disappointed that The son of the number two didn't notice me. Even if his father isn't the best dad the training and knowledge should still have been something passed to him.

It's almost time for class to begin. As if thinking that was the key needed Izuku opened up the door and was barraged by Iida's introductions and Ochako's enthusiasm about seeing him again. I smirked slightly seeing Aizawa caterpillar his way near them from my spot on the ceiling. He looked up at me and I raised three fingers. He nodded and begin his play.

"If your here to make friends you might as well pack up and leave now. This is the U.A. heroics course." The students scattered into their seats as he stood, freed from his yellow cocoon, walking to the lecturn. I slowly made my way with him each and every set of eyes were focused competely on Aizawa. "It took you 10 seconds to be quiet and in your seats... This behavior is irrational." Pulling a track suit from his bag he huffs. "Pull on one of these and meet me on the P.E. Grounds." Reminiscent of my first day in 1-A he took a bag from behind the lecturn he placed it down before tossing the one he had in his hands to Aoyama. "Time is valuable so hurry up." His peace said he left the room flashing me a hand signal and I smiled. It was time I made my exit to meet Aizawa on the field to report. I was so happy I was wearing my U.A. track top instead of my normal uniform.

Like a year before I made my way out the back door only being glanced at by Jiro and Shoji who I put my finger to my lips gesturing to keep quiet as I left and made my way to Aizawa.

I made my report on who saw me based on the seating chart on the board. Yaoyorozu Momo, Jiro Kyoka, and Shoji Mezo were the ones who noticed or saw me within a acceptable time limit. The rest didn't notice or had no reaction at all leading me to believe they had no idea I was present.

"Alright. Get me the balls for the ball throw from the shed. When you are back I hope they have arrived by then. I'll be sure to expel who hasn't arrived by then." I nod and scurry off to get the balls for the distance throw test and contemplate if I should sabotage the 20 of them but I shake my head thinking better of it. All Might is already here waiting to watch the test I spotted him hiding by the shed already and I'm sure Aizawa has too. I just hope Midoriya has some control over his quirk by now.
