He continued to read and the number on the 'read level' had increased slowly which made him understand that the number of respective skill would increase when he did the respective action such as 'reading', 'pencil spinning', etc. He hadn't tried other things, but he could do that later when he had come out of the hospital.
There was nothing he could do in the hospital, and he could only read a book inside his room for half an hour before decided to stop.

He needed time to investigate more about this system, but he knew the basic function of it. He also found out that the maximum level of each skill was level 5 and he was wondering what would happen if he had made one of the skills into level 5.
His thought was suddenly broken when someone suddenly entered his room and shouted his name.
"Oi, Mikata! How are you doing?"
Jin saw a middle-aged man with a beer belly walk inside with a goofy smile. This man smelled of cigarettes on his body and wore a grey suit which was a bit messy. His hair was cut short, and his face was shaved quite clean.
The man walked toward him while bringing him a fruit parcel, pack of cigarettes, and lighter. He looked around as if doing something suspicious before whispering, "I bring you a cigarette. Keep this a secret from the nurse."

"What? Why aren't you saying anything?" The man frowned.
Jin tried to remember the man and sighed in relief when he remembered him, "Inspector Higashikata." He remembered that this man was his superior where he was working. He thought for a while and decided to use this chance to ask him a lot of questions regarding his job after this.
"What's that? Call me Higashikata-san, boy," Higashikata said while slapping his back with a smile.
*Slap!* *Slap!* *Slap!*
"P - Please stop, Higashikata-san!" Jin was a patient and he had an injury on his head. Even though Higashikata's slap was on his back, it caused him to have a headache.
"My bad! My bad!"
Higashikata laughed and didn't seem sorry about his action.

Jin calmed himself and asked Higashikata about the case that he had handled before since his memory was a bit dizzy.
Higashikata nodded and told him everything about the mission, job, and a lot more since he understood that Jin had just woken up from his coma few days ago.
Jin was glad that this person was very talkative and a chatterbox. He didn't need to ask and this person started to explain a lot of things to him. He kept listening, however, the topic suddenly changed from the job to Higashikata's love life, then talked about his wife, daughter, and his pocket money which was cut by his wife. He twitched his lips and could only patiently listen to him since all the information he received was very critical for him.
But Higashikata suddenly turned silent when he saw Jin kept listening to him without complaint.

"Jin, is it only me, or have you changed?" Higashikata suddenly asked.

The girl looked at Jin with a scared expression since she was afraid of being treated the same as the criminal behind her.
