My cohabiting partner
This is nothing!

This is nothing!

Not having your own car is really inconvenient. The three of them hailed a taxi and quickly arrived at the First People's Hospital in the city. Along the way, they kept calling Shen Junao's phone until they finally got through when they reached the outpatient hall.

Zhang Xixi anxiously asked, "Junao, how are you? Where are you?"

Shen Junao replied, "I'm at the entrance to the operating room on the third floor. Come over."

When they arrived on the third floor, Zhang Xixi and Tang Ziyu rushed forward and asked with concern, "Junao, how are you?"

"I'm fine. It's my partner who was cut by a knife and has a big wound. I don't know if it affected any tendons or bones," Shen Junao said.

Tang Ziyu looked at the emergency room then back at Jia Simiao and exclaimed loudly: "Jia Simiao is so skilled in medicine! Let him take a look!"

Jia Simiao shook his head and said: "Is that appropriate? We should trust their medical skills instead of interfering."

Zhang Xixi also said: "Their medical skills can't compare to yours! You even saved Er Gouzi's father from dying! There isn't anything you can't do."

"Yes!" Tang Ziyu agreed.

Although Zhang Xixi and Tang Ziyu had been praising Jia Simiao for his medical skills all along, Shen Junao had never met him before. In this situation where even dead horses must be treated as live ones (meaning desperate times call for desperate measures), he needed help no matter what.

As an imperial physician who rose to become one of three top scholars after leaving court service (a Chinese saying meaning someone who excels in multiple fields), did people think it was just hype?

"Jia Simiao, my good partner is injured. If you're confident, please help," Shen Junao said.

Jia Simiao frowned and asked: "Is there a diagnosis report? Let me see it."

The diagnosis report was still in the doctor's hands and had not been shown yet.

Zhang Xixi shouted, "Wait here. I'll go get the report."

In no time at all, she came back with a diagnosis report and handed it to Jia Simiao. He stared at her for a moment, wondering how she managed to get the report so quickly. But he didn't have time to ask questions; he flipped through the pages of the report and saw that the wound was indeed severe - his entire arm had been cut open by a knife but luckily did not affect any tendons or bones. Normally, stitching up would suffice for treatment but recovery would take at least two months.

"Junao, come with me into the operating room and kick out those doctors. I'll treat Da Zhang's injury myself and guarantee that he will recover soon," Jia Simiao said confidently.

"What? Recover soon?" Shen Junao along with Zhang Xixi, Tang Ziyu, and Lao Li looked at Jia Simiao strangely as if he were some kind of monster.

Jia Simiao then made another condition: trust him completely without anyone else present during treatment.

"I trust you." Shen Junao grabbed Jia Simiao's arm tightly before rushing inside.

Inside the operating room were several doctors wearing white coats with masks on their faces who were busy preparing for Da Zhang's surgery. When they saw someone barging in suddenly like this they were stunned.

Shen Junao was not polite at all: "You guys can all leave, there's no need for you to save him." The doctors were a bit unhappy about this. What does she mean? If she tells us to save him, we'll save him. If she doesn't want us to save him, then we won't. Who does she think we are?

Shen Junao slammed her gun on the table and said coldly, "What? Do I have to use some means?" One doctor exclaimed excitedly: "If something happens to the patient, don't come looking for us." Shen Junao replied confidently: "Don't worry, if anything happens, I'll take responsibility."

"We're leaving," they said as they walked out.

"Jia Simiao, come here... Hey! What are you doing?" Shen Junao wanted Jia Simiao to quickly treat Da Zhang's injuries but he was chatting with two young nurses nearby and making them laugh. She really wanted to kick him in the shins - what kind of person is he? He was supposed to be treating someone's injuries not flirting with girls.

Jia Simiao smiled awkwardly before walking over. The two nurses knew that Shen Junao wasn't easy-going so they left immediately.

Da Zhang had already been anesthetized when Jia Simiao checked his wounds and pulse before nodding his head and saying: "It's okay now; you can go outside."

"You..." Shen pointed at Jia Simiao angrily and shouted loudly: "If you can't cure him properly then it won’t end well for you!"

Jia shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly until after Shen left the room before placing a water ring on Da Zhang’s injured arm. Then he used internal energy little by little around Da Zhang’s wound which gradually formed a thin mist around it while the water ring seemed magical as it condensed the mist into a thicker and denser form. The process wasn't fast but Da Zhang's wound was slowly healing.

In the corridor outside of the operating room, Zhang Xixi asked Shen Junao: "Junao, do you think Jia can handle it?"

Shen Junao replied irritably: "Didn't you and Ziyu say that his medical skills were strong?" Tang Ziyu quickly said: "I didn't say anything; don’t drag me into this."

Zhang Xixi immediately clarified her position: "I said that Jia's medical skills are pretty good but I don't believe he can understand how to heal Da Zhang’s wounds."

Tang Ziyu asked, "What should we do now then?"

Shen Junao replied, “What else can we do? Wait.”

Time passed by second by second as Shen Junao, Zhang Xixi and Tang Ziyu all felt uneasy while Lao Li saw that things weren’t going well so he didn’t dare ask any questions. After about half an hour had passed with Zhang Xixi walking back and forth countless times making both Tang Ziyu and Shen dizzy from watching her movements - finally the door to the operating room opened.

Jia Simiao walked out alone which made Zhang Xixi ask anxiously: “Jia Gege (older brother), what happened to Da Zhang?”

Jia Simiao looked at Shen Junao apologetically before saying solemnly: “Jun Ao, I have to tell you something; please don’t blame me.”

Shen Junao’s heart skipped a beat as she asked worriedly: “What happened to Da Zhang?”

Jia Simiao sighed deeply before replying regretfully: “Ah...my plan was supposed to take twenty minutes but who would’ve thought that Da Zhong’s wound was too long and deep which delayed me for an extra ten minutes. Please don’t blame me, I really wanted to cure him as soon as possible.”

Shen Junao was stunned before punching Jia Simiao’s chest in excitement and asking: “Are you saying that Da Zhang has already recovered?”

Jia Simiao winced from the pain but still managed to smile and say: “Yes, he's fully healed now. However, he's been given anesthesia so he can't move freely yet. You should go tell the doctor to arrange a ward for him...

At this moment, a middle-aged doctor with a friendly face and glasses walked over and smiled at Zhang Xixi, saying: "Hey, it's Xixi. I heard your friend got injured?"

Zhang Xixi replied: "Yes, Uncle Qi. Please help me arrange a hospital room for my friend."

Qi Huanyuan was the deputy director of the city's first people's hospital. He nodded in agreement; that wasn't an issue and he would take care of it himself. Nowadays, knowing someone made things much easier to handle. Soon enough, they had arranged for Da Zhang to be admitted into a VIP ward with comfortable and clean surroundings along with pretty nurses checking on him 24 hours a day.

After Qi Huanyuan left, Tang Ziyu asked: "Xixi, you called him 'Uncle Qi' so familiarly - are you close to this deputy director?"

"Not really."

"Not really? Then why is he so enthusiastic about helping you out?"

"Oh...my second uncle is the director."

"Ahh? Your second uncle is Zhang Renyi who is the director of the city's first people's hospital?"

Zhang Xixi shrugged her shoulders and nodded her head saying: "Yeah! So what?"

Tang Ziyu hugged Zhang Xixi excitedly exclaiming: "Wow! I was just worrying about where to work after graduation but since your uncle is Director Zhang Renyi then please tell him that I want to work as a nurse at his hospital! You know my character!"

"I do know it well...and it isn't very good," joked Zhang Xixi.

"What did you say? Do you believe that I will show those photos of yours taken without permission to Jia-ge (older brother Jia)?"

"I'm afraid of you," teased Zhang Xixi.

After joking around for awhile longer, Zhang Xixi said: "You work hard and if you really want to come work at the hospital after graduation, I'll make sure it happens with just one word."

Tang Ziyu giggled saying: "That's my good sister! You're treating me to dinner tonight!"

Zhang Xixi glared at her for a few moments thinking that she had done such a big favor but Tang Ziyu was still asking for a treat. Was she having an affair with Jia-ge? Otherwise, why didn't she learn from him and be more reserved?

Da Zhang was injured so Shen Junao stayed behind to watch over him while Jia Simiao and Zhang Xixi went back first. It wasn't until then that Zhang Xixi remembered that she hadn't told Shen Junao about her upcoming grand opening of the cold drink shop with Jia Simiao in two days. Tang Ziyu had already prepared red envelopes as gifts; of course, they would have to go.

Shen Junao laughed and scolded her saying: "Okay okay, I promise I will prepare a big red envelope for you and Jia Simiao.
