‘Again?’ There was a hint of speechlessness in Eugene’s voice as she stared in front of her, 'Did I really crack my head open and die again?’
She did not seem to recall anything other than the fact that she blacked out. And when she opened her eyes again, she found herself being able to float. No. She wasn’t randomly floating in her room. She was floating in the abyss. Not the dark abyss she went to when she died, but an abyss of deep red.
There was another thing different this time other than being able to float and the abyss being red and that was she did not have to pick up a book for a figure to appear.
“.....”
Wait a minute… Wait a damn minute!
Book?! Figure?!
Eugene’s mouth widened from realization. She had picked up a book in the abyss when she died! She picked up a book titled Promissum!
Three years ago, before the dark abyss fell apart and before ‘herself’ covered in blood appeared in front of her, she seemed to have picked up a book with ‘Promissum’ written in on the front page!
Eugene did not have time to care about the sleeping yet standing figure in front of her as all she could think of was the book! The book that burned her hands!
‘That was Promissum!!’ Her mouth gaped open even more as she sucked her breath in! ‘How did I forget that?!’ At this moment, she wanted nothing more than to punch herself in the head. Naturally, she did not go through with the motion but instead began to rub her chin.
“No wonder I found it so familiar… no wonder…” But why? Why was Promissum there in the middle of the abyss?
The binding promise of United West Liasel.
Promissum, Latin for Promise.
‘What if.’ Eugene furrowed her eyebrows, ‘What if there are not one, but more Promissum’s out there?’ She tried to reason with herself as to why Promissum would be sitting in the abyss, because why on earth would she pick up Promissum that bound United West Liasel together? How was that related to her in any way? And most important of all, there was no way Promissum that bound United West Liasel together would be inside the abyss.
It is more ‘logical’ to think that there are more Promissum’s out there. But then again, what on earth made her pick up that book? Her memories before the abyss broke apart were blurry. But she also knew that she wasn’t the type of person who would randomly pick things up. This was her personality before she met Euria… of course. But besides that! There was no way she had picked up the book with her consent. It was either she was forced to pick up the book, or that the book ‘coincidentally’ landed in her hands.
She didn't want to believe in ‘coincidence’ because it was an icky word, so, being forced to was what she will believe in for now.
But why? She had died then. She was dead. She knows she died because she had felt herself dying in the cold storage room.
“....”
Eugene had a revelation, and she couldn't help but gasp, “NO WAY! WAS IT PROMISSUM?!”
She could feel shivers going down her spine. She knows that what she thought of wasn’t logical, but her being alive and well wasn’t logical in the first place!
The more Eugene thought about it, the more certain she was that Promissum was what brought her back alive.
“What the....” she staggered in her spot.
A book of promise. Promise. The binding promise of United West Liasel. Was her life promised to the book to be reincarnated and to transmigrate? Was the Promissum she picked up for her to live again? But why? Who would pick up a book with the potential to buy an entire continent and use it on her? In comparison to the book, she was nothing!
A thought flashed through Eugene's mind and she frowned, ‘No way… My fan club?’ Not a second later, she dismissed the idea and sighed.
‘Alright, you’re getting nowhere.’ There was no point in speculating further, but at the very least, she'd discovered the cause for her reincarnation.
Now, back to another problem at hand. She was currently trapped inside a red abyss with a grey-haired floating woman.

“....” Eugene hesitated. With a clenched fist, she coughed lightly to grab the woman’s attention.
-Ahem-
“......” The sleeping woman did not react.
Eugene inhaled, walked around the woman, and coughed again.
-Ahem-
‘No seriously, wake up.’ she thought as she watched the woman sleeping in peace.
5 minutes later…
Eugene rubbed her head, ‘I have a feeling that if I touch this woman, I will wake up.'’ According to her detective radar, this is what should happen.
But Eugene did not dare be rude. So with her tiny index finger, she began to poke around the woman.
“....” Hello? Why is nothing happening? It's been five minutes and my arms are sore okay?
Eugene pursed her lips and exhaled, ‘Ha… Rude it is!’ She mustered up her courage and touched the woman with her palm!
Only then did a ray of light begin to shine from the woman. Eugene squirmed away from the light, her arms moving to shield her eyes when suddenly the abyss began to shake and tremble violently. Eugene peaked out from her arm but all she could see was the red abyss condensing itself into a ball and then flying into the woman in front of her.
‘Hello? What about my wake-up time?’ Eugene did not want to believe that her detective radar was wrong!
Before Eugene could ‘procrastinate’ any further she flinched from the woman flinching.
“....” She wanted to wake up okay? She. Not the woman in front of her!
The woman’s eyes opened slowly. Her pupils were deep red as they stared out into nothing.
And before Eugene could react, the woman got sucked into her body very quickly.
.
.
.
“JESSSSS!” Eugene yelled for Jesus as she shot straight up from the bed.
‘Wha… Wha… WHAT!!!’ she felt around her chest as she breathed in heavily. ‘DID SHE POSSESS ME?!’ panicked, Eugene began to hit her chest as she tried to ‘Shoo’ away the woman who entered her body!
‘Rice! Get me uncooked rice!’ Hit me with uncooked rice and drive the ghost away, anyone!! Eugene’s face was very ugly as she hit herself over and over again.
Unbeknownst to Eugene, there were people in the room who had been waiting patiently for her to wake up. The people who waited for Eugene to wake up closed their mouths and they watched Eugene awkwardly. They couldn’t bring themselves to announce their presence and only watched as Eugene began to hit her head against the headboard.
Levis did not want to embarrass Eugene so he signaled for everyone to escape the room. This ‘everyone’ included Moniqua, Louis, Aernest, Ramon, Euria, Aeselak, and Aedelak. Moniqua, Levis, Euria, Ramon, and Aeselak saw that Eugene was healthy so they left, leaving Aernest and Aedelak in front of Eugene’s door.
The two nodded at each other. Aernest stepped forward and knocked on Eugene’s door to ask for permission to ‘enter’.
“!” Eugene jolted from the sound of the knock. She quickly calmed herself down and gave Aernest permission to enter.
Aedelak and Aernest nodded at each other again before proceeding to enter ‘naturally’. With stiff faces, they walked straight to Eugene like mecha robots
“.... Why are you walking like that?” Eugene asked with a brow raised. What on earth is going on?
Aernest and Aedelak jolted before eagerly shaking their heads to indicate that it was nothing!
“....” Eugene stared at the two blankly. ‘Sure.’
Aedelak stood stiffly for one minute before running over to Eugene. She grabbed her hands and burst out words afterwords, “Miss! Eldest Miss! Is Miss feeling alright? Do you feel sick? Does your body feel alright? Miss fainted so suddenly yesterday! Last night, Master and Madam spent the entire night seeking top physicians in Zene for Miss! Everyone was so worried!” Aedelak did not stop and continued on and on.
Eugene pursed her lips and only listened to Aedelak quietly. In her head, she could imagine Moniqua and Levis running all over town, tearing down door after door, and kidnapping every physician they could find.
Truthfully, she was at fault this time. She knew that she had been feeling a bit muddle-headed however chose to not say anything that time. When Aedelak stop to take a second to breathe, Eugene lowered her head and apologized,
“I apologize. I’ll tell you everything next time alright?” When she finished speaking, she raised her head only to meet Aedelak’s red eyes.
“You have to…” Aedelak whispered softly and sadly.
Eugene nodded very quickly to convince Aedelak.
It was Aernest’s turn to speak. He climbed up to Eugene’s bed and stared straight into her eyes, “Sister, how are you?” his voice was filled with concern as he asked.
“I’m fine.” She shook her hands, “Nothing’s wrong.”
Aedelak’s eyes widened in horror as she practically screamed, “MISS DON’T MOVE! YOUR HAND IS INJURED!”
Eugene jolted a bit from the scream and she immediately stopped moving her hand. She brought her injured hand in front of her and examined it carefully, “It’s alright. It is wrapped very well so it doesn’t hurt.”
“It doesn’t hurt?”
Eugene nodded. It doesn’t hurt.
Aedelak made a face that showed that she did not fully trust Eugene’s words but let it go. She was stabbed once in her hand and remembered it being incredibly painful. Being stabbed in the hand hurts, but being treated also hurts. That’s why she did not fully believe in Eugene’s words because it made no sense!
Eugene naturally saw this and showed Aedelak her wrapped hand, “See.” She muttered as she poked her injury.
Aedelak furrowed her brows… “It.. really, truly, does not hurt?”
Eugene nodded. Before Aedelak could question her again, Eugene quickly asked her, “What about you? Are you hurt?”
Aedelak paused. She tilted her head as she did not understand what Eugene meant by asking if she was hurt. She shook her head and denied, “I am not hurt, Eldest Miss.”
Eugene frowned, “Surely you are jesting. You are hurt, no?”
Aedelak shook her head, “I am not hurt, Miss” she repeated.
Eugene moved back and carefully examined Aedelak from head to toe. She did not want to believe in her memories and that was because in the fight yesterday, Aedelak had hit Ario in the head and was ‘almost’ stabbed because of that. In her memories, Aedelak was not stabbed because Ario’s time had stopped which allowed for Aedelak to quickly move away.
It was an unexplainable phenomenon that felt as if it could only happen in movies. But it was real. It was real because Aedelak was still alive and well.
She did not know how it was possible but truthfully speaking, Ario’s head exploding should also not be possible. Well, it could be possible if there was a ticking time bomb planted in his head but she doubts that that was it.
Time stopping. Ario’s head exploding. Nothing could be explained. There was no rational or objective way to explain either of these things happened. Not to mention, her blood that ate away Kal’s face and also Promissum.
Eugene tilted her head.
Why was Aedelak acting as if time stopping was normal?
“Why are you nonchalant about what happened yesterday?” she couldn’t help but ask.
Aedelak did not respond, but her expression was filled with confusion.
