Last Chapter: Learns that ‘insane’ people can’t be hypnotized. Louis has a bad reaction to the ‘darker’ nightmare ver. Eugene realizes her ‘important attachments’ and is willing to die if she could kill Commander Kal.
.
.
Naturally, Commander Kal was speechless. A three-year-old child was talking about death. Sure, she wasn’t the usual three-year-old, but that is no reason to not fear death! He wasn’t willing to believe her words but her actions pinpoint that what she was saying is true! That she’d gladly die if she could make him disappear.
The nightmare melody he plays brings out one’s worst fear or some fear you have. Yet, it did not work for the two children. The little girl said she overcame her worst fear and that her next possible fear is dying a useless death. But did it look like she fears death? No. Therefore what she said about overcoming her fears was true, otherwise, his melody would have worked!
And if she doesn’t fear death, that would mean…
“You’re truly not afraid of anything,” he whispered loud enough for Eugene, and Aernest to hear. A person who fears nothing is strong and will become the strongest. There is no doubt about that.
“However, how will you make me disappear? You, a mere chick, will kill me? What a good dream. It’s not me who will die but you, and in that situation, that young boy will be the only one left. Are you not curious as to what I would do when you’re gone?” He sneered with his brows raised.
Eugene’s bleak eyes darkened even more. She knows her abilities and limits well. Because of Promissum, it is not possible for her to kill him. She was a person from Xenperia, and if she tries to hurt a person from Zene, Promissum will stop her. But that was only if the person of Zene did not want to hurt her. If Commander Kal and herself were willing, they could force themselves to resist promissum and explode together.
But what did he mean when he asked if she was curious as to what he would do when she was gone? Surely, if she was gone, he would too? He knows so much about promissum that he surely knows what would happen if they try to kill each other… right?
Commander Kal motioned for the knight in front of him to step aside before walking down the step of stairs. His face was filled with indescribable coldness as they straight into Eugene’s eyes. But no one knew except him that his back was ridden with cold sweat. That an instinctive blaring horn was ringing in his body, warning him that the girl in front of him would pose a serious threat to him in the future. That he mustn’t leave this dangerous child room to grow.
He hated the child in front of him but also truly liked her. If he could, he would have made her a pupil. It was a real pity...
His laughter filled the room, “Child, I would have loved to raise you.”
‘Heck no.’ Eugene frowned with disgust.
Aernest was nervously staring at Commander Kal coming their way. He quickly pulled Eugene’s sleeves and dragged her to stand up and hide behind him. Yet it didn’t take a second for Eugene to push him back to stand behind her instead.
“Si, sister!” His voice was ridden with anxiety as he attempted to pull Eugene back.
“But… I have to kill you.” Commander Kal’s eyes contained sadness as he looked at Eugene.
Eugene scoffed sarcastically, “Are you not afraid of Promissums’s retribution?” It was obvious that Commander Kal was someone ambitious. Was he someone who was willing to die if he could kill her? The answer was no.
Commander Kal’s nonchalant and confident attitude gave Eugene many doubts and bad feelings. There was something else she didn’t know wasn’t there?
Her bad premonition came true with Commander Kal’s next words. With his head tilted to one side, he confidently answered her question, “Of course I am afraid. That is... If I was someone from this continent that is…” He smirked.
“How do you think I was able to inflict pain to your siblings and teachers otherwise?”
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“!!”
‘What....’ Eugene's eyes turned to one of speechlessness. ‘He wasn’t from this continent?’ as that question repeated in her mind, goosebumps began appearing on the back of her neck. She felt her heart drop to the pit of her stomach as she watched the man walk closer and closer to her.
She was too into her emotions that she overlooked the most important thing. If she had been clear-headed, she would have realized this fact a long time ago. Promissum wouldn’t allow Commander Kal to inflict pain onto Louis. Hypnotism might’ve been fine, but the nightmare song was something that would hurt someone. If Commander was truly a person from Liasel, he would’ve exploded the moment he caused someone from Xenperia to be hurt.
‘How did I overlook this detail?’ Eugene’s palms started sweating from nerves. Did Duke Marleigh and Duke Rodriguez overlook this too? Because Commander Kal’s actions were so natural, they might not have realized this fatal mistake as well! Or was it that because there was Promissum, everyone’s guards were down from the very start. Because Promissum will protect them, they do not have to worry even if their memories get wiped out. Because there was Promissum, they wouldn’t die.
‘Curses!’ Eugene wanted to punch herself in the face so badly. She gripped onto Aernest’s hands tightly as she condemned herself. ‘What should I do?!’
Commander Kal stopped less than a meter in front of her and laughed at her face that turned green.
His laugh snapped Eugene out of her thoughts. The warm palms in her own cleared her head a little. ‘Don’t panic! Think! If you’re gone, his next target will be Aernest! Think of something Eugene! Don’t be dumb when the moment counts! Aren’t you always praised as smart?! Then why are you so dumb right now!’
As Commander Kal’s sword pointed to her, she stepped back and glared at him. ‘Think! Don’t just stand still! Find a backdoor! Startle him! Anything!” With the sword pointing so close to her, her heart rate sped up and was beating loudly.
“Sister!!!!”Aernest tried to pull Eugene back but couldn't because of their height and weight differences. Yet though she was taller and heavier than him, he knew the difference was not significant! The only reason she was so heavy at the moment was that she was protecting him. Her desire to protect him held her rooted in her position.
“Are you willing to quietly die?” Commander Kal raised a brow at her bravery.
“Not. Willing!” Eugene said with her teeth gritted!
“Sister!! PLEASE STAND BACK!!” Aernest begged frantically through his heartbreaking shout!
Commander Kal shifted his focus from Eugene to Aernest, “You’re first then.” Not a second after, Commander Kal shifted his sword and thrust behind Eugene, towards Aernest’s position.
“!” Aernest’s eyes widened tremendously. His shock wasn’t for Commander Kal who suddenly charged at him but at the red liquid flying in front of him. His hand reached for his face that was splattered in some red liquid as he stared at the sword that stopped in front of him in horror!
Not a split second after Commander Kal thrust his blade, Eugene released her hold on Aernest’s hands and reached for Commander Kal’s sword with her bare hand! With the strength from her thighs, she used her everything to stop the sword!
‘Who do you think you’re pointing your sword at?’ Her red eyes glared dagger at Commander Kal as blood spilled out of her palms! With one look at the amount of blood, one could tell that the cut was very deep.
Aernest pushed his headphone down to his neck in shock! “SISTER!!!!” He screamed as he reached for Eugene’s hands that were still tightly clutching onto the sword.
“No! No! Let it go!!” He shouted madly as he gripped Eugene’s wrist.
However, Eugene remained still. Without a trace of pain, she stared straight into Commander Kal’s widened eyes.
“NOT. WILLING. FOR. HIM. TOO!”
Before Commander Kal could react, Eugene kicked Aernest out of the way before sliding the hand holding the sword down to the sword handle. Very quickly after, Eugene released her grip on the sword and surprised Commander Kal by spraying her huge amount of blood all over his face and eyes!
“ARGHHH!” Commander Kal’s hands instinctively reached for his face!
“NOW AERNEST!” Eugene shouted! Before Aernest could react, she dragged him to the two most powerful people in the room!
Duke Marleigh and Duke Rodriguez!
“WAKE UP DUKE!!! WAKE UPP!!!!” Eugene squatted down as she shook Duke Rodriguez violently! Wasn’t she praised as smart?! Of course the smart decision would be to rely on someone powerful!
Aernest’s hands reached for his ears because of Eugene’s loud voice! But, forgetting the pressure in his ears, he copied Eugene, “WAKE UP! WAKE UP!!!” Aernest shouted as he shook Duke Marleigh!
Behind Aernest and Eugene, Commander Kal was clutching onto his head as he was screaming as well, “ARGHH!!!! IT HURTS! IT HURTS!!!”
Eugene wanted to look back and see why Commander Kal was overreacting when she saw Commander Kal’s knight rushing to them from the corner of her eyes. Very quickly, she focused all her attention on waking up Duke Rodriguez again!
“Wake up! I said WAKE THE HELL UP! It’s sunny, outside! Why are you sleeping!!!” She screamed as she began to pound on Duke Rodriguez’s chest! She pounded frantically, like a mad man! Her frantic action made Aernest doubt if the person was actually his sister or not!
Eugene roared at the innocent Aernest who jumped in fright! “AERNEST! WAKE DUKE MARLEIGH QUICKLY! I DON’T CARE HOW YOU DO IT! WAKE HIM UP OR WE WILL DIE!!!”
Her brows jumped up and her face brightened immediately after roaring at Aernest! “Aernest! I know! I KNOW! PAIN! Pain will get rid of this hypnotism!” After saying this, she jumped to her feet and began slamming and kicking at Duke Rodriguez's face!
“WAKE! UP!” She shouted through her gritted teeth, as she kicked the Duke’s face mercilessly.
Aernest face was filled with horror!
“Sis.. Sister…” He muttered... cowardly.
Eugene paid no heed to save her face and was acting like a lunatic! With her eyebrows furrowed together from the unmoving Duke Rodriguez, she thought, ‘Where do men feel the most pain again?’
