Chapter 8 - Kitten

In general, a camp is a group of survivors who live in one place. Based on that alone, a small camp could be called a camp.

However, it is different when talking about recognized camps. They need something other than the basic definition of camp. It is recognition, expertise and territory.

Survivor League. This is a form of union of many camps from the same area. This association usually determines whether the camp is recognized or not. The biggest survivor league is in Russia and is often called the central league.

If a camp was recognized, then they could earn quite a bit of profit. It's a camp community which means they can help each other out. Help each other in economic and physical assistance.

Talking about helping each other, the thing Tanaka was thinking about right now was weapons. Ammunition and weapons.

"Weapons, huh,"

Tanaka muttered as he pushed the cart. He was currently heading to the convenience store where he usually bought things.

The reason why Tanaka chose the convenience stores over other food stores was because the place was still clean. Compared to the convenience store where Tanaka usually went, other stores are already disheveled and filled with blood and other dirt.

Of course for packaged foods such things can be removed easily. However, Tanaka prefers cleaner packaging and it's clearly available at convenience stores.

"Hmmmm..."

Tanaka stopped in front of a power pole. He thought of something.

"Why did I forget to take the truck?"

Tanaka realized that picking up food by truck would be more efficient than using a cart. However, it was already too late and Tanaka preferred to continue.

Tanaka arrives at the convenience store. He started taking things that were still tightly wrapped and had not expired.

Tanaka also took the supplies that were in the warehouse. Fresh supply which is still stored in the convenience stores cooler. Some of them are beef and chicken.

"Should I bring this bread... or not?"

Tanaka considered bringing the bread that was in the package. The reason why he was considering that was because the breads were past their expiration date and some of them were moldy.

In the end Tanaka didn't take the thing with him and preferred fresh supplies. This was because Tanaka had just gotten a refrigerator that needed to be filled and fresh stuffing was a major item for him.

"Ah yes, that girl..."

As Tanaka was moving boxes to the cart, he was reminded of the high school girl he didn't get to help. Tanaka again felt a bit uneasy about the incident.

"I guess all I can do is end her suffering being a zombie,"

said Tanaka. He decided to find the girl's corpse later so he could make her really die and then bury her.

It was a form of respect and at the same time penance for Tanaka. He didn't want the girl to wander into a zombie.

After Tanaka had loaded the goods into the cart, he went to the back of the convenience stores. Head to the place where the girl became a zombie.

"Hopefully she hasn't wandered far."

Tanaka hoped.

It's been about four days. If only the girl had gone far, Tanaka couldn't do anything about his guilt.

Just before Tanaka arrived at the other side of the road, he realized something. Something went wrong.

It was seen that there were scattered body parts at the end of the alley. It wasn't something that had been there before.

When Tanaka reached the end of the alley, a pretty gore scene appeared. There were countless body parts strewn around.

"Zombies don't kill other zombies. That means there are creatures around here!"

Tanaka realized that.

There aren't any zombies around. However, instead of feeling calm, Tanaka felt restless.

If indeed the culprit is a human, then something like this can only be done by certain types. A normal human would obviously not be able or even willing to do such an act. There is also the possibility of this from a monster or animal.

First, it was possible that he was an ordinary survivor with good killing skills. He didn't kill any other survivors and wasn't interested.

Second, it is possible that he is a survivor who has skills and has an interest in killing other survivors. This was a possibility that Tanaka was afraid of.

Third, it is possible that this is the work of a mutant. The mutants sometimes attack fellow mutants or zombies. That's what Tanaka saw from a certain blog.

That's what came to Tanaka's mind about the possible culprit. For him, the second and third possibilities were the worst. They were a threat that Tanaka wasn't sure he could handle.

Tanaka continues his search for the high school girl's zombie. Even though it was in the form of a corpse, it didn't matter to him.

...

Time has passed. Tanaka couldn't find anything that matched the high school girl's characteristics.

"Maybe, she had gone far,"

thought Tanaka. He can now only let his feelings dissolve without any effort from himself.

Regret.

Tanaka approached the cart. He is now walking back to the boarding house.

The hikikomori man thought that the return trip would be the same as the onward journey. However, he didn't expect that the zombies would actually be attracted by the sound of cart wheels which had not happened before.

"Shit... Could it be because it's too heavy?"

Tanaka tries to find out the reason why the zombies keep coming. If the problem is due to overload, the weight of the previous load when carrying the fridge can be said to be slightly heavier than the current weight.

Tanaka thought hard about the reason why the wheelbarrow rattled louder. After all, the only thing that can be assumed is the distribution of the load. It was possible that Tanaka was distributing the load unequally.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

Tanaka beats to death the zombies who try to attack the cart wheel. Several times he had to stop to deal with the zombies.

"...I'll finish you off later!"

Tanaka gave up. He now wanted to move quickly while avoiding obstacles on the road. After all, the zombies couldn't match his speed.

Tanaka was at such a high speed that he suddenly stopped when he heard something. It voice was like that of a kitten.

“Miaw~ miaw-”

“Graaaaaaa!”

The voice was clearer now. There were zombies groaning and heading towards the bushes. It was the bush where Tanaka had seen the corpse of a mother cat with her dying cub.

It's most likely a surviving kitten, thought Tanaka.

Tanaka immediately headed towards the two zombies that were approaching the direction of the bush. He hit the jaw from under one of the zombies. A blow that makes the zombie float as far as three meters from the ground.

After that, Tanaka kicked the one remaining zombie. A kick which makes the zombie bounce up to six meters. Thanks to that, the zombie's body became bent in many parts.

Tanaka remembered that just yesterday the kitten had been dying. Tanaka never thought something like this would happen.

Knowing that the kitten is still alive, Tanaka's desire to take care of him is now rekindled.

“Push push, miaw. Hello, I'm here, I will take care of you from now on."

Tanaka took the kitten.

Tanaka tried to carry her while calming her down. The kitten was only the size of a fist. That's a size which is still very baby.

Tanaka realized something. In the cat's mouth, there is a white, slightly transparent water mark. It is milk.

Tanaka who knew this immediately checked the mother. It is true that the mother secretes a few drops of breast milk.

After that, Tanaka buried the mother. The hikikomori had previously been reluctant to bury them because the kitten was still alive. However, since only the mother had died, Tanaka had no reason to not bury her.

Tanaka put the kitten into the cart on the open cardboard. The cardboard is filled with several corks which are made to warm the little cat.

However, before Tanaka put it down, he wanted to name the cat he would raise.

Like when naming camps, Tanaka's sense of naming is a bit odd.

"I'll name you Pushi!"

The gray black cat's name from now on is Pushi. Tanaka's given name.

Tanaka continued his return journey faster because he was too lazy to deal with the zombies that came because of Pushi's meowing sound.

......

...

11:21 PM, Tanaka has now arrived in front of the boarding house.

Tanaka should have been faster. However, since the zombies knew that there was the voice of a living being other than Tanaka, they dared to confront the hikikomori.

Therefore Tanaka has to deal with zombies even though he refuses to do so.

"Ta-Tanaka-san?"

Yuki was in front of the stairs. She was surprised when she saw the condition of Tanaka who had just arrived.

"Well, you know, the streets are full of hardcore fans,"

said Tanaka in response to Yuki who was looking at Tanaka. Yuki who was looking at a man with a shirt full of blood.

Yuki stopped her gaze towards Tanaka when she realized that the man felt bad to be looked at. Yuki tried to look at the object Tanaka was carrying that was in the cart.

"I'll go take a shower after this!"

Tanaka exclaimed so Yuki wouldn't worry. However, at that time Yuki was concentrating on looking at the things Tanaka was carrying. At a glance, Yuki saw the figure of a small cat and a soft meow.

"W-well, by the way Tanaka-san... Is that a cat?"

Cat. Animals that probably everyone knows. It was Yuki's favorite animal since she was little.

Even though the girl had never kept one, she still liked them.

"Yes, you're right. I found it by the river. Since the mother died, I chose to bring it here. You're not allergic to cats, are you?"

Tanaka explained which ended with a question for confirmation.

"No, I actually like them. I didn't expect that there were still cats surviving around this town!"

Yuki explained. Since the zombies appeared, cats and other pets became a source of food for the zombies. It was very difficult for them to be able to fight off hordes of zombies.

Yuki tried to take the kitten. Tanaka just watched the girl in her casual clothes holding the little cat.

However, Tanaka couldn't focus on the kitten since it was between Yuki's two big oppai.

"It name is Pushi!"

Tanaka spoke to tell Yuki. Yuki who heard it put on a 'what' face which questioned Tanaka's sanity.

Yuki misheard the word 'Pushi' for 'pussy'.

Tanaka who noticed Yuki's response reiterated his words.

"Her name is Pu'shi'!"

Yuki let out a sigh of relief. She thought that Tanaka's naming sense was of the impolite type. However, it turned out to be just a weird naming sense.

"Then I'll go upstairs first. I need to clean this body,"

Tanaka explained towards Yuki. He was currently stroking the kitten who was in his arms.

"Fine, I'll take care of this kitten. Take your time, Tanaka!"

Yuki said which was the end of their conversation. Tanaka immediately went to his room and then headed to the bathroom which had no door.

Tanaka didn't want to move the luggage on the cart in such a dirty and very unsterile condition. He is now starting to shower and clean himself.

Yuki who was in the boarding house stroking the cat in his arms. The cat was between Yuki's two 'big mountains'.

"Pushi, huh..."

Yuki muttered. She still found it a bit odd with Tanaka's sense of naming.

"Weird name,"

Yuki continued muttering.

Right now, Yuki is sitting on the stairs leading to the second floor. It was the same position Yuki was in when Tanaka returned. Actually, at that time Yuki was contemplating something until suddenly Tanaka appeared.

However, unlike before, she is currently relaxing while stroking the kitten. Her favorite animal.

On the sidelines of Yuki's caress, the little cat meowed quite loudly. It awoke from its slumber and meowed with the sound of a baby cat.

"Yosh, yosh, calm down. Mama is here~"

Yuki tried to calm her down while petting it. However, the little cat kept meowing as if asking for something.

"Graaaa!"

Yuki was shocked and froze for a moment. She heard zombies around.

The high school girl ran to the second floor. When she looked back, several zombies appeared from the north. Yuki immediately went to Tanaka's room to ask for help.

On the other hand, Tanaka was currently soaping his feet. He was startled when he heard a knock on the door.

"Oh, I think something happened."

said Tanaka as he washed the part he had just soaped.

"Tanaka-san... Tanaka-san... Sorry to interrupt your time, but-- hiaa!"

Yuki cut her off in surprise. He looked to the right and saw Tanaka who is still naked.

Yuki tried to close her eyes while peeking a little. The virgin girl could still see something in Tanaka's crotch which was above average size. Or that's what Yuki knew about the average size of the thing.

"Shhh, have you locked the door?"

Tanaka asked. Yuki who was currently nervous and curious answered with 'closed' eyes.

"Y-yes, I did!"

Tanaka immediately took his towel. He wears a towel as clothes and takes a knife in his kitchen section for a weapon.

Tanaka who was about to go out now turned back to Yuki.

"Yuki, you go to the corner of the room. Take whatever you can use as a weapon just in case... ah yes, except the laptop!"

Said Tanaka just in case of an unwanted possibility. Yuki's intention was actually just to tell Tanaka about the zombies that had appeared.

However, she didn't expect Tanaka to act like this. Yuki was about to stop him, but she didn't have the strength to say anything.

Yuki opened her eyes fully. He was determined to try to help Tanaka.

Tanaka who noticed that said something before Yuki could speak.

"Relax, I'll be fine. You just take care of yourself, okay!"

Those words made Yuki somewhat relaxed and worried at the same time. She wasn't sure about leaving everything to Tanaka, but she tried to trust the man.

Yuki nodded. In the end, she chose to follow Tanaka's words.

"Good, on the count of three I will open the door. After that you must close it immediately, okay!"

"I can't-"

Before Yuki could say 'I can't do it' in full, Tanaka had finished counting and immediately opened the door.

"... Three!"

Tanaka who was in front of the room was now dealing with two zombies in front of him. He kicked them both down.

Two zombies fall.

Tanaka headed straight for the stairs. At first it looks like there are two zombies going up, but it turns out there is another one which was covered by an iron shelf.

Tanaka headed to the zombie that was covered in the vault. He pierced the zombie's ear, straight into his brain.

Three zombies fell.

From below, there were two zombies trying to climb up to Tanaka's position. They had absolutely no intention of attacking Tanaka, but still their presence disturbing the other members of the Fire-Nebula Camp.

Tanaka kicked the male zombie that was approaching towards his feet. Right behind him was a female zombie which fell along with the zombie that Tanaka kicked.

Immediately, Tanaka threw the knife down to kill one of the fallen zombies. The knife hit right between the female zombie's eyes.

Tanaka then jumps up targeting the head of the fallen male zombie as a landing point. Tanaka got right there and the zombie's head was crushed under the pressure of the sixty kilogram man.

It was an extreme move for someone who was barefoot. However, luckily Tanaka wasn't injured as he has super toned skin.

Five zombies fell.

Tanaka took the knife stuck in the female zombie's head. He continued his massacre combo. Slaughter the zombies.

Yuki who came out to see Tanaka's condition was amazed at how Tanaka was moving.

However, there is one thing that makes her unable to see the incident in full. To her, the sight was too cruel, human killing 'humans'.

Tanaka hits the zombies that are moving towards him. The zombie fell and still hasn't dead.

Tanaka then stuck the knife into the ear of another zombie beside him. The zombie that was hit by the knife immediately fell. Tanaka continued to stomp on the head of the zombie that wasn't dead yet.

Seven zombies fell.

The man who was in the yard near the gate still heard the zombies' voices. The voice came from the other side of the boarding house.

Immediately, Tanaka finished off the four zombies outside the boarding area using more or less the same moves as before.

Eleven zombies fell.
