Yuki Fujiwara. She is a high school girl. She was seventeen years old and could be said to be in the second grade of high school.
Raised in a simple family, Yuki is a normal girl. Or so it should be.
The incident when she was in middle school completely changed her life. It was a rumor that Yuki was a bad girl. Yuki endured the middle school years without being able to dodge.
However, it doesn't stop there, the rumors still haunt Yuki even in her high school days. Yuki who was once a normal school girl has now become a quiet and anti-social schoolgirl.
Due to that pressure, Yuki ran away. Escape to the next town and try to find a cheap place to live so she can support herself for a longer time. She tries to be an independent girl, even if it means she has to make money on her own.
Unfortunately, that's what Yuki planned before the apocalypse finally came.
"... Tomorrow I will make a soup. I can only make stew because my only cooking utensil is this pot. Hehe,"
said a Yuki who was about to part with a Tanaka. The two of them were at the door of their respective rooms.
"Okay, can't wait for tomorrow!"
replied the man. He looked like a twenty-six year old man, but was actually twenty-six years old.
Tanaka's words ended their conversation that night. A night filled with stars and zombies.
The girl entered the room. She let out a long breath.
"Fortunately he is a good person!"
[That's what a girl who stole someone else's food said,]
"S-Shut up, it's also because of you that I secretly hid some of his food. If I had known that he was such a nice guy, I would have preferred a polite way of asking!"
[You must be jealous isn't the fact that he has special powers!]
"Indeed, I am feel envious. However, I don't have bad intentions like you!"
[But you still want to take advantage of that guy right? You can't lie to yourself!]
The other cornered her. Yuki is silent for a moment.
"That is none of your business!"
~~~
In a certain room, or rather in room number six on the second floor of a certain boarding house, there was a man who took off his clothes.
"Demn, I'm not sweating at all!"
said the man. He checked his body parts to see if anything normal remained.
"Ah, don't care!"
Tanaka as the man finally gave up and turned to lie down on the bed. He looked at the ceiling of the room.
"Alright, tomorrow the plan is..."
The hikikomori man made plans for tomorrow.
"First, collect more materials. Second, collect more items. Third, gather more food. Also, the additional agenda is to train Yuki to become more skilled,"
said Tanaka after he finished writing it down on a piece of paper.
Plans that are arguably still very rough or abstract. However, Tanaka still needs it because he often forgets if there is nothing to remind him.
"... Ah, and maybe I'll add it to build the foundation of the wall!"
Say it in addition. He had already gathered some of the materials needed to make the foundation and framework. What is needed besides that is more cement, bricks and sand.
The shirtless man stuck his paper in the new fridge which made the room even more cramped.
"Ugh, tomorrow I'll just move it downstairs!"
Tanaka said somewhat annoyed. He had just sensed that the fridge he had brought upstairs made the room even more uncomfortable.
Tanaka was done with the planning activities he had to write down. Now he has nothing else to do even though his body was not at all tired or sleepy.
"... Watch some of 'that', maybe!"
Said Tanaka decided to fill his time with activities that were honestly pathetic for a man his age.
......
...
"Again?"
Tanaka looked at his phone. He is astonished at something that happened with a fairly similar premise.
The light outside the window that entered his room was the light of a street lamp. Darkness is still the dominant thing in the room. Also, the clock on the screen shows 04:03 AM which means it's still early morning.
"I only need about three hours of sleep, again!"
Tanaka exclaimed in astonishment. Previously, on the seventh of June, Tanaka worked quite hard. Even if his body didn't feel tired, at least he needed more rest.
"I can't go back to sleep either... My eyes aren't sleepy at all... My stomach feels empty too..."
Because of that, Tanaka took some fruit from the fridge to eat. Tanaka is confused about what else to do to fill his time.
"Oh, that's right!"
As he closed the fridge, Tanaka looked at the notes stuck to the door. The notepad contained the activities he had to do for today, the eighth of June.
"I also promise to try Yuki's cooking later. So, I guess I'll go out for a bit first,"
...
"This is a very powerful ability!"
Praise Tanaka for his abilities. Besides being able to become stronger and not being detected by zombies, he also felt fit even after working hard and sleeping only three hours per day.
Tanaka changed into his clothes and prepared to leave. He remembered again what his short-term goals for now.
First, get stronger. Unknown threats like criminals and mutants still exist. Criminals are wary of Tanaka because they might use firearms or turn out to be a blessed. Mutants are also wary of because it's clear they're still a mystery to Tanaka.
Second, build a fort around the boarding house. This was something that Tanaka needed to resolve for the safety of the Fire-Nebula Camp. The current headquarters is still quite open at the front.
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Third, collect a lot of food and other items to support the camp in order to survive. Food and drink are the main staples followed by weapons, medical, communication tools and fuel.
Or so Tanaka thought. This was a plan that Tanaka had made even before the apocalypse happened.
"Forget about the stop post. It's more effective to kill the zombies around since I have this ability!"
Tanaka reassured himself. He scrapped the plan about the layoffs and a few others. The thing that must be prioritized is the efficiency of a job.
"Yuki already knows my abilities after all,"
added Tanaka. One of the strong reasons why Tanaka made a stop post is to keep a secret that he is being ignored by zombies. However, since the only other member in the camp, Yuki, already knew about it, doing such a thing felt pointless.
Wearing a regular shirt with black pants. Tanaka who only has sandals going out in gear doesn't characterize an apocalypse survivor at all. After all, Tanaka was ignored by the zombies.
Before leaving, Tanaka moved the things in the truck first. He had no time to move those things yesterday and he can just do it now.
After he finished, Tanaka went straight to where he had picked up the building materials yesterday. Departs when the sun still hasn't arrived and the zombies are wandering around quite aggressively. Some of them are resting.
Basically, zombies still inherit the needs of ordinary people. Rest, eat and drink.
Yuki was currently still sleeping in her room which was locked with a rope wrapped around it. The original door lock was broken during an incident where local criminals entered the boarding room one by one.
Something came in through the vent. It was something like a shadow moving on the surface of a solid object. Something moved towards the bottom of the bed.
"Ummmm..."
Yuki was still giggling. She dreams of bad things about her past in middle school.
It is early morning at 04:50 AM, Yuki wake up with sweat all over her body.
"Hah~ hah~"
Yuki took a pretty heavy breath. The girl tried to calm herself down.
"Just a dream, huh,"
Yuki said in response to what she saw earlier. All of that was a dream.
Yuki then went to the kitchen with a glass. Shee turned on the faucet to fetch water for her to drink.
This is Yuki's habit in order to save the cost of necessities. The source of drinking water for her is tap water.
"Taste of water as usual, a bit strange,"
Yuki's impression of the water she drank.
The water Yuki drank should have been heated first because it still contained some microbes. Luckily the microbes that enter are not harmful to the body. It's just that it changes the taste of the water.
Yuki who was only wearing a short shirt and panties is about to go take a shower. It was Yuki's habit to wear rather skimpy clothes while sleeping. She couldn't stand the hot and humid temperatures at night.
Or that's how Yuki's body felt.
...
In no more than ten minutes, Yuki had finished bathing and getting dressed. She now wears a sports shirt and pants which she rarely wears. To her, the pants felt too short.
However, those were the only pants left in the closet. So Yuki was forced to use it or choose to not wear anything.
"Ugh, I'm a bit embarrassed to use this!"
Yuki's impression of her appearance. She acted a bit like she was covering up her body.
[What are you ashamed of. There's not even anyone else in this room besides you!"]
"Uhm, I promised Tanaka to cook him some food. However, I forgot to take the salt downstairs!"
Yuki responded to the preparation of the ingredients which had indeed lost salt. The girl forgot to take it from the storage shed below.
"I want to go out, but it's still evening,"
Yuki was confused. She looked at the window and the clock on her phone. It was still dawn when the sun is still below the horizon.
"Miaw~ miaw~"
A little cat's voice suddenly sounded. Yuki remembered Pushi who was hiding in the mattress under her bed.
"Ahh, miaw~ you're hungry... Just a minute, I'll make you some more milk!"
Yuki said as she looked under her bed. Now she prepares formula for animals especially cats that she gets from the warehouse below. The place where Tanaka kept things related to food and drink.
It didn't take too long, Yuki put the small plastic bowl filled with milk under the mattress.
"You like hiding in there, Pushi. Don't you want to come out?"
Yuki asked a creature who clearly didn't know the meaning of her words.
Yuki could see the little Pushi drinking the milk quite clearly. Half of his body was swallowed up in a dark area while the other half appeared.
Yuki cradled with a small smile looking at the cat. Some time passed until Yuki finally decided to leave.
"Yosh, I have to get out!"
Yuki decided. Decided to get out of the room and go downstairs to get some groceries.
Yuki came out quietly. She was very careful about the sound so that she didn't lure zombies. Actually, the zombies nearby had been killed by Tanaka before, but she didn't know about it yet.
Yuki went down the stairs while looking at the fence in front of the boarding house. It is an area that Yuki afraid of because the place is so open. The place is only given an iron fence that has a cavity of about ten centimeters for each rib.
"I really have to close it!"
Yuki spoke in response to the wide cavity of the fence. She really wanted to make the boarding area safe and not transparent so that zombies couldn't easily enter the area.
Yuki arrived at the door of the room that is used as a food warehouse. The place wasn't locked so Yuki could easily open it.
Inside there are lots of cardboard boxes filled with food ingredients. There are also two drink coolers which are filled with meat ingredients as well.
Yuki took a bag of salt and a bottle of energy drink from the refrigerator.
[Thief!]
"Noisy! Tanaka-san has allowed me to be allowed to use the ingredients here for my consumption. I'm not a thief! I have permission!"
Yuki left the room. Now she saw a large field. Boarding yard.
"I can use this place to make a hydroponic place,"
muttered the girl who used to study hydroponics. She and her mother used to make things like that to save the cost of buying groceries every day.
This apocalypse period will later enter a time where there is no more food that can be looted outside. Therefore, Yuki thought of using her knowledge of hydroponics to make her own food source.
What Yuki needs are building materials such as pipes, some used plastic, plenty of water and plant seeds suitable for hydroponics. With that, Yuki can make simple hydroponics through her abilities.
She then returned to the room to prepare the food she had promised to make.
......
...
"Tanaka-san!"
Yuki knocked on Tanaka's door. However, from within the room, there was absolutely no answer.
"This is weird. Tanaka-san, I'm coming in!"
Yuki announced through the door rather softly. She then went into Tanaka's room where no one was actually inside.
"Tanaka-san, the food is ready... Tanaka-san..."
Yuki searched every corner of the room for the only guy the girl knew around here. However, she did not find it.
A curious Yuki tries to turn on Tanaka's laptop. It turns on and has absolutely no password set.
Yuki and Tanaka were the same. They don't care about passwords since they decide to live alone.
"Ah, isn't she is..."
Yuki spoke softly as soon as she saw the laptop wallpaper which is someone she knew.
"She's 'Kuroha Kami', right?"
Yuki realized the identity of the woman on Tanaka's laptop wallpaper. She is Yuki's favorite adult artist, Kuroha Kami.
It just so happens that Tanaka and Yuki have the same favorite adult artist. They have something in common in adult themes.
"Wow, what a coincidence!"
Yuki, who is also a follower of this artist, is very relieved to meet people who have the same passion.
After a while, Yuki finally decided to come out. She just realized that the box truck that was inside last night had now disappeared.
"He must have been out again. I couldn't believe he was the type to wake up so early!"
Yuki said responding to Tanaka's absence around the boarding house.
~~~
06:05 AM in the morning. Tanaka is driving in a box truck and had arrived in front of the boarding house. He saw Yuki leaning against one of the pillars on the second floor.
"She's awake, apparently. This girl is really diligent!"
Said Tanaka who woke up earlier than Yuki. However, based on Tanaka's habits, he was the type who should wake up at nine in the morning or maybe noon.
Tanaka entered the boarding house in his truck. As he got out of the truck, Yuki was greeted with something to say.
"Breakfast is ready, Tanaka-san!"
Tanaka nodded towards Yuki.
"Uhm, Yuki, this is delicious!"
He said praising the person who made the dish. Yuki as the creator of the dish was both embarrassed and happy to hear Tanaka's words.
It was Tanaka's first time tasting someone else's cooking in a long time. Since he lives independently, he always makes his own food.
Yuki fell silent after the pleasure of being praised. She remembered that in the past the person who often complimented Yuki's cooking was her father. On the other hand, her mother must always comment on what her child's cooking lacks.
Tanaka looked at Yuki who suddenly fell silent.
"Are you okay, Yuki?"
Tanaka asked for sure. Yuki who was in front of him was surprised and shook her head slightly indicating she was not okay.
"No, I'm fine!"
Yuki said which was a bit of a contrast to her body language. This caught Tanaka's attention for a while until he finally returned to his food.
A soup with bread and tea as a complement. The breakfast which is quite strange for a person from that country, but still edible.
The food ran out quickly since Tanaka was the type to eat quickly. Even the food that Yuki made as much as one medium pot could be finished quickly.
For some reason, Tanaka was still hungry and his stomach growled. Yuki then made him cup noodles.
They continued to relax for a while after enjoying their meal.
"It would be great if we had rice here!"
Said Tanaka. He imagined how the rice tasted after so long he hadn't tasted it.
"Humu, you're right. I also want to eat rice for some reason!"
Yuki replied.
"Well, then I'll take it later!"
Tanaka accepted the order and added rice to the list of items he had to pick up.
After breakfast, the two then returned to their respective activities. Tanaka moved building materials to the yard and Yuki cleaned each room in the boarding house so that it could be used as an additional space.
This is what Yuki and Tanaka's routine will be. Yuki who takes care of the headquarters or boarding house. Tanaka is on duty outside and collecting items.
