Learning is a pain

Learning is a pain

It has been 2 days since I last played the guitar and since then tons of kids are asking me to teach them how to play.

At first i was quite happy and quickly taught the kids however things does not turn how they're planned. As I started the lessons I discovered that the kids don't know anything basic like reading and writing which is quite important.

When I inquired one of the adults why they said to me that "Only nobles and rich commoners have the right to learn you know?" I was quite perturbed at the fact that most of the people here does not even know how to read and write thats why with the consent of the villagers I established a little school to teach those kids and adults who want to learn reading and writing.

At first they were quite weary that i may charge them astronomical amounts for the teaching service but I assured them that i will only charge them with foods and the likes I even told them that "I also accept bread and fruits as payments so please don't worry about it"

And with that my little school was built which was quite fast actually. Before i teach those kids about music I thought them how to read, write, and calculate first. Many children asked me why I'm not teaching them music first. Then I answered them "Before you can learn music you must learn how to read and write first. If you dont know the basics how can you even learn something complicated and besides reading, writing, and calculating can help you in life immensely you know? For example you need not ask for someone to read for you. You need not ask someone to write for you and that you dont need someone to calculate for you which will immensely decrease the chances of you being tricked or scammed of your money!"

When the kids heard it they quickly understood even the adults had made a face of agreement. Day's turned to weeks I kept teaching the students about the basics from reading to calculating simple math.

Fortunately the language here is the same as my old worlds American English while the math is also still the same which made things much more convenient.

By the thirr week  a bit of a commotion happened. It seems like a merchant caravan has arrived bringing with them exotic wares and spices. With that i ended the class a bit early to let the adults and kids in my class do what they wanna do.

In mu free time I took the guitar and played a piece for a bit cause i was quite bored at thr moment. I suddenly remembered to check the library when i checked the libraries contents it was still the same... All guitar pieces. When can i play other instruments i wonder? While i was skimming the pieces in the library i saw a perculiar piece.

Its title was Le festin by Michael Giacchino. It was a simple guitar version of the song and while reading it i had the urge to play it. Even id my voice does not aound that good i'll try to sing it.

I stopped checking the library and tried to play it when i suddenly heard a grumble. It looks like my stomach was empty and by the looks of it it was already lunch time and so i went out and went to the square to get a grub.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

I went to some stalls set up by the merchants to try some of their meal and honestly it was quite delicious even though that spices is quite a luxury here it seems that with a bit of the cooks creativity he made some good flavored food that is still cheap for the masses.

While i was eating my meal one of the merchants came to me. He was modestly dressed and quite handsome to. While thinking of such thoughts he suddenly introduced himself to me "Hello young lad may I ask what is that thing behind your back? I was quite intrigued by its shaped and oddity so please forgive me for my curiosity... Ah! Where are my manners i forgot to introduce myself im Fernando Daklam the head of the merchant convoy" . With the sudden conversation I was lost for a moment then i remembered his greetings so i replied back with the same courtesy and I also told him about the guitar.

At first he was quite confuse on what i was talking about like whats music, whats it purpose and such when one of the kids that i was teaching suddenly told me to just play the guitar so that the man can understand and with the kids request the other also requested for me to play even the adults.

The merchant group was quite curious though so they juat followed the villagers instruction and waited for me to play. With that i took the guitar out, tuned it and made sure it was in good condition.

I decided to play Le festin just for fun. Even if the people here does not know french ill just sing it and worry later. When i started playinh the dirst notes Fernando was quite startles as the other travelling merchants while the villagers and kids was quite ecstatic. Then I started to sing the song....

Jamais on ne me dira

And with that the lost note ended. Even though they did not understand the language the people was quite captures by the music that they still kept their silence even though the song is already done.

The first to wake up from the stupor was the kids. They were clapping their hands and saying to me a lot of thanks and compliments. With the kids leading the adults also woke up from their stupor. The adults were quite appreciative and told me the muaic was good but they also inquired me on what the lurics meant so for them I wrote the english version of the song.

The last one to wake up from the stupor was the metchants and when they woke up the flooded me with tons of questions and some even offered to by my guitar for a good price. They thought that just by owning the guitar thy can make the so called music but i burst their bubbles.

I told them that the guitar is just an instrument and that humans are needed to make a good music. That its humans whos providing the emotion to provide a good music and that just having an instrument without having the skill is just the same as having a pile of trash. When the merchants heard it some were greatly dissappointed and immediately stopped their harrassment while some kept on disturbing me.

Fernando was one of them of course he kept on pestering me on how to play and so under the conditions of him staying here for a few months i will teach him how to play the guitar with my all of my students.
