Chapter 3: The Forge of Creation

Kabiliti & Viola’s perspective:

As the duo walked in they saw a nearly pitch-black room with lines of white lava.running every which way all linking up to a futuristic forge. The forge itself dwarfed everything around it and was constantly filled by a lava fall impossibly tall, lit up by the lava were what looked to be the remnants of a battle surrounding a legless and long 3x8 black table with 2 ebony black cubes on top. Beside the table stood a large crowd of clearly African gods, all of whom were clearly defined and wore outfits influenced by a plethora of African cultures. They all carried a divine beauty and both Kabiliti & Viola felt the overwhelming urge to bow in reverence. The only reason they could even resist the compulsion was the fact that these gods had abandoned them, their ‘children’, simply because they were bored. It was this anger that prevented them from even shedding a tear at their majesty.

”Wow, not even a bow. They’re Pissed.” a familiar Japanese voice said from one of the corners.

It was the Japanese god, visibly unimpressed. He wore an ornate set of Japanese samurai armour and carried a quiver of arrows on his side as well as a Japanese Katana

Japanese god:” Normally I would point this out as a reason for them to but now, thanks to several assholes, I’m part of this foolish plan”

”What is the plan he's talking about?” Kabiliti & Viola asked in sync completely disregarding the samurai god in the corner of the room

Yemoja: ”You see, we gods use 2 types of power to run and govern our worlds. Recognition Power and Faith.”

Kabiliti:” Recognition Power and Faith?”

Yemoja: ”We gain Faith from worship but Recognition Power from people simply knowing our mythos”

Orunla:” Faith is used to directly and openly affect worlds and people.

Our priests, shamans and other such religious figures can even tap into this power to cast magic. The more fanatical the followers, the more power each mortal can store and the more people worship the god, the faster they recharge”

Apedemak:” But without a magic system to regulate and balance such power. Faith becomes useless.”

Yemoja:” Recognition Power, however. Is infinitely more useful and versatile”

Orunla:” Recognition Power is what we use to create everything including various Universal systems, and laws“

Viola:” Laws ?”

Orunla: “You know, like Physics, Biology and even Oops. I thought you progressed far enough to at least know the name.”

“To be fair, they haven’t tapped into the talent on 2 continents, 6 sub-continents and regions as well as hundreds of islands and isolated regions.” The Japanese god added from the corner he was sulking in

“So we’re not the only fuck ups?” Bastet asked, a sickening amount of hope in her tone.

”That does not excuse your negligence.” Kabiliti & Viola countered sternly, utterly disgusted that the goddess appeared happy at that fact. After rebuking them an unnatural feeling of regent and a forced desire to repent came over the both of them, but it quickly faded.

While grim, it did give a little comfort knowing that Africa wasn’t alone in having childish gods, but “”” their gods””” shouldn’t be happy that more people are suffering around the world due to other gods being as shit as them!

With an awkward cough, Yemoja carried on:” R-Recognition Power is gained by mortals simply knowing a depiction about us…as long as the depiction is specifically about us in some way, shape, or form. We get paid”

Kabiliti:” Wait. Earlier you said the reason you abandoned us-”

Anansi:” I wouldn’t say ‘abandoned’-”

Viola:” Like we were saying, abandoned us because the rules of the system made us so BORING!..”

Again the feeling to beg for forgiveness, to worship came. But this time it was barely recognisable, as it was quickly washed away by the two’s growing hatred of their gods

Kabiliti & Viola paused to let the silence hang, as a way of shaming them, till the Japanese god broke it with a cheeky comment.

Japanese god: “ I think they’ve got your numbers. Not even your divine presence can quell their anger ”

Kabiliti & Viola glared at the god but he simply shrugged, indifferent to their justified rage. Kabiliti & Viola looked back and continued: “...Why didn’t you just change the rules?”

Japanese god:” I can answer that without getting into trouble ”

The Japanese god walked in front of Kabiliti & Viola pulled out a sheet of paper from seemingly nowhere and explained.

Japanese god:” We are what you would call ‘the first set’ of what are basically ‘National managers’ in terms of godhood. We normally have many gods under us but we are not the ones on top. We still have to pay taxes and such-”

Viola” You pay taxes?”

the god glared up from his paper, then continued reading “Anyway… This universe was our first and our test for gaining the ranks we currently have. But as a test, we had to follow strict and limiting rules which caused many to fail for one reason or another. We then, (after specific milestones were achieved and we each or collectively earned enough Recognition Power) could use your universe as a template in our universes and for creating new gods. You humans are what are called ‘inheritors’ and are gifted with unique souls that mutate the longer you live. This is also why you can get to an age where you will actively want to die. With each generation and level of progression, your will to live will grow until you become the next set. This does not make you special as you can still fail and become extinct and you are also not the only inheritors of your Precursor Set. They are others. Please take that last part in consideration of all the information given.” He then put his script away.

Japanese god: “From what I can tell your gods genuinely want to fix their mistake but also don’t think they can do it, right.”

In perfect harmony, Kabiliti & Viola asked ”We still don’t get it.”

The Japanese god stepped away, clearly spooked at such un-naturally perfect coordination but the duo simply ignored him and looked to their guilty gods

Kabiliti & Viola asked,” Do you really think isekai-ing us will fix what you’ve done?”

As one, all the African gods said ”We want you to become our demigods.”

The two looked stunned. “Demigods?” they thought.

Mami Wata: “We plan to make an entire universe just for our children, like you. A place where you can have a second shot before you get truly judged. But first, we’re going to need some new demigods to supervise.”

Orunla: “We’ll need the best and brightest for such a job.”

Kabiliti & Viola asked,” Why us?”

Orunla: “You're simply the first. But as the first. You must go through a trial or the others will not accept you”

Apedemak: ”You will go to one of our best and newest universes and live on one of our…’ meh’ worlds and you will be the first of a new powerful race.”

Mami Wata: “Then at the end of your life you will be judged by your soon-to-be peers ”

Yemoja: ”If you succeed you can help us with re-introducing us to humanity, help with the African universe with the title ‘The First’ or, depending on how well you do, decide a new fate for yourself.”

Kabiliti & Viola were dumbstruck by all this information, this opportunity and the chance at living again. But this time she would know better, she could do more! And she could also help everyone back home- Forget home, She could unfuck the entire continent by helping these gods AND make it so everyone gets to live twice. Honestly, neither of them trusted their gods, but the choice was death or rebirth.

Pretending to be deeply enraptured by their plan Kabiliti & Viola loudly announced “YES, WE WANT THIS!”

all the African gods” THEN STEP FORWARD AND TOUCH THE CUB-”

Japanese god: *cough* *cough* “Paying for most of this” *cough* *cough*

Anansi:” Oh yeah, we also borrowed half of all of ’s Recognition Power in his savings so if you could also start worship on the world you sent to, that would help clear up the debt we started, that’d be great”

Kabiliti:” But we don’t even know your name”

Viola:” We literally heard ‘Japanese god’ in a robotic tone in place of your name”

”Oh don’t worry about that,” the Japanese god helpfully added ”it’s mainly intention that matters. We don’t use the same names for different worlds. It would get confusing otherwise.”

Viola:” I’m going to call you Steve”

Steve:” Please don’t call me Steve, I’m

Viola:” Too late, system auto-corrected to Steve.”

Steve turned to Kabiliti

Steve:” Viola Please-”

Kabiliti: “I’m Kabiliti now and I quite like Steve.”

Steve groaned in annoyance,

Kabiliti & Viola stepped forward towards the 2 ebony cubes

Kabiliti & Viola:” So we just touch them right”

Yemoja: “Yes but first. I must say on behalf of the gods here; We are truly sorry we were such terrible gods and even worse parents, we hope you can truly forgive us eventually”

Kabiliti & Viola refused to respond and touched the cubes.

They soon found themselves leaving their stick bodies; they both found themselves covered in darkness and a synthetic voice greeted them.

Steve:” Just so you know. They truly are sorry. And I’m sure they’ll try to help you in your new lives. Just. understand We’re not as perfect as Myths make us out to be. Also please call me anything other than St-”
