Chapter 2 - First Achievement

After thoroughly checking my surroundings, I moved on to the next tab. Clicking on it, I saw the shopping screen. Inside this tab, there was another tab leading to the player's market. These marketplaces are familiar to me because of playing the game, but there was only a market for players to trade with each other. Now, there was also a market for buying weapons, armors, pets, etc., provided by the system.

Moving on, I clicked on the next tab. This time I saw a chatting room named '#World 109731' which had a green dot on its side indicating my server/world.

[Guest81783: I have grilled pork if anyone wants to trade!

Guest64810: I offer ten stones for trade.

Guest74615: I offer five granites.

Guest81783: PM ME!!]

Over the chat, I could see people communicating for trade and help. Some people seemed unfamiliar with the game and were begging for help, while some people got used to it quickly, collecting resources and hunting. I was also one of them, thanks to the multiplier system giving me hope.

The next tab inside the world chat tab was the PM (Personal Message) section. This tab is used for speaking discreetly and planning strategies with allies or trade partners. Right now, I had zero PM awaiting an answer :')

The fourth tab was the Guild Section. Players in this tab can create their own guilds after reaching level 5, and from the tab, they can check on their members and such. Each guild starts from the first level to the tenth level. From the first level to the last, each level adds +10 guild member capacity. First level 10/10... Tenth level 100/100, etc..

The last tab was the most important one: the Achievements tab. In this tab, players can claim rewards after successfully achieving milestones or research breakthroughs. Inventing the first firearm, successfully collecting thousands of stones, etc. Each achievement reward had its specific effects, bonuses, and titles, which are important in changing the tides of the game.

Now, after closing the system screen, I turned my attention back to the location I was. My backside was completely safe because of being at the edge of the map, but Ravagers were a big problem. Nonetheless, I thought about a solution against them. I would use the terrain to my advantage. Even though it seemed like a difficult spot for the early stage, I was at an advantage because of the multiplier.

Hundreds of superhumans were enough to block incoming waves. Just in case, I would still build traps and defensive fortifications. To do that, of course, I needed an abundant amount of resources. Hopefully, the multiplier system would also multiply the gathered resources.

After spending a few meaningless hours, the sun set, and my people returned from their missions. My resource collecting group had returned with 20 wood, 12 stone, and 5 hunted deer. Just as I hoped, the system reacted quickly and multiplied.

*Ding! Host has collected resources, multiplying in progress..* *Success..* *Congratulations, you have received; 200 Wood, 120 Stone, 50 Deer.*

Good, now with that amount of resources, I can build ten houses to accommodate everyone here. Thankfully, the construction process is fast. After using the system and choosing construction, I simply put the houses across my hut on the hill that leads the way downward. My reconnaissance team scanned around, and apparently, there is only one way to go down and climb up. That also makes defending easier.

After half an hour later, ten houses were built. Five on the right side of the entrance way while the other five on the other side. This way, if someone tries to attack my base, they first have to get past the corridor created by the houses my soldiers will be sleeping in.

Satisfied with that, then I upgraded my hut using 20 units of wood and 15 units of stone. After confirming the upgrade, bright light swallowed my shabby-looking hut for a few seconds before dying down.

After the light, what I saw in front of me was a two-story house which had the look of medieval period buildings. Walking inside, the first floor had two rooms and a staircase leading upstairs. One of the rooms was the kitchen while the other had a long table with four chairs around it.

Moving upstairs, I saw a bathroom and a bedroom right next to each other, which made me relieved because I could take a shower after getting enough water from the river.

Then I moved to the bedroom and threw myself on my new comfortable king-size bed. Today was crazy, and I still hope that it's all a dream, but everything is so realistic to be a dream. While I was lost in my thoughts, I slowly slept through the night.

When I woke up the next morning, I ordered my men to proceed with the same missions given yesterday. After they left, I opened the building menu and built a research center. 20 units of wood and stone were the required resources.

After placing it on the ground, I waited for half an hour, as it was the time every building's construction took. Even if you build a Laser Tower, it still takes half an hour. It's said that developers did that to ensure balance using construction time.

After half an hour later, the construction had finished. It was a three-story building. The first floor was something like a guest floor, the second floor was a canteen for researchers, while the last floor is the research room. It was a simple yet efficient building.

Moving to the top floor, I looked around as my researchers flocked inside to see their new workplace. Every one of them had lights in their eyes. After they moved inside, I quickly escaped, not wanting to be inside the crowd.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

When I moved outside, I opened the research menu on my system and browsed through it to see if there is anything different from the game. There wasn't any new tech to research, but they had added a new feature. In the game, you could advance through research once you completed the one before the tech you wanted to research, but now you had to open up tiers. Like on the first tier, there are researches like collecting resources with a 15% speed boost and mining speed boost, as well as hunting and researching speed. Apart from effects, there are buildings like a tower for archers, warehouse, cookhouse, barn, and such. In the military section, there are various effect boosts to be applied once researched, like attack damage boost, armor boost, and mana points recovery speed bonus, and such.

If not decided carefully, researching something you don't need at that time is a literal death sentence for players. Contrary to building speed, the research time is different depending on the intelligence and wisdom the assigned researchers have and the research speed boost provided by race effects.

Then I clicked on one of the research that was available and it showed how much time it would take to complete.

================

Wooden Wall

Durability: 1500/1500

DEF: 100

Building Resources: 10 units of wood

RESEARCH TIME: 1 DAY (24 HOURS) RESOURCES: 10 units of wood, 10 units of stone.

================

1 day just for a simple wooden wall, huh.' I thought while checking on other available researches. Even though there aren't anyone stupid enough to attack me, taking defensive measurements is always good. But I decided to wait until my resource collecting group comes back.

Keeping the research in my mind, I opened my building menu and started the construction of 2 barracks. There was something I wanted to see if it happens. So far, my people, which is given to me, always got multiplied. So, what happens if I build barracks and receive the ten troops at the start? Though I had enough superhumans for me to defend this place, barracks had something better.

Superhumans which will be summoned using the barracks will have corresponding skills to assist in combat. That's to say, when my construction finishes and I get the first troops, which I hope that they will be multiplied, they all will have the skills for combat purposes only.

After half an hour later, the construction finished, and my two barracks stood there.

*Ding! Host has received 10 Superhuman Troops.* *Multiplying ten times...* *Success..* *Congratulations, host has received 100 Superhuman Troops.*

*Ding! Host has received 10 Superhuman Troops.* *Multiplying ten times...* *Success..* *Congratulations, host has received 100 Superhuman Troops.*

Now I had a total of 200 Superhuman troops! Including the other superhumans, my empire's population reached 300!

[Congratulations, Guest99831 you have successfully earned an achievement!]

[The Bigger We Are! = As your country's population reached 300, you have received their blessings.]

[Guest99831, do you want to stay anonymous or do you want to announce your kingdom's/empire's name to all the players. (Announcement requires a name for your country.)]

This announcement thing was also something new, something I never heard when playing the game. It seems like announcing my achievement and country's name doesn't provide me additional rewards so doing something like that would probably put a target on my head.
