Chapter 1 – The 33rd Case – Part 1
Wednesday, August 3rd, Year 9989, Balien Calendar.
10:30 PM, Lawrence, Kansas, United states.
Five police cars could be seen speeding along the highway, before stopping in an alleyway near the banks of river Kansas. Inspector Johnson gets down from one of the cars, and moves towards an old house nearby.
No. 413, House of Miss. Emily Jordan.
The house was in complete disorder. One could see signs of intense struggle inside. If one looked closely one could even see signs of someone desperately searching for something. It was unknown if the thing they were searching had been found or not.
In the middle of this chaos, you could see a middle-aged woman lying on the ground. There were no signs of life on her body; she was lying there as if she was in eternal sleep.
Inspector Johnson enters the house, and starts to investigate his surroundings. First thing he notices is, none of wounds on Emily’s body were bleeding, clearly there was not even a drop blood left in Emily’s body. From her neighbors’ statements, it was sure that Emily had been alive a couple of hours back. Therefore, there was no possibility that all her blood was lost naturally. The only other alternative could be that whoever killed her took all of her blood with him/her. Second, he notices bite wound on Emily’s neck, probably from where all her blood was extracted. Third, clearly Emily was serving tea to somebody, because there were two teacups on the ground, even though they were shattered right now, from the residual tea in the cups, he could still make out that there were two cups served. This meant that, she clearly knew her assailant.
At this time, Sergeant Matt comes into the house after checking for clues outside the house. Noticing Matt coming in, Johnson asks, “Did you find anything?”
Matt sees inspector Johnson observing the bite wound, and says, “No Sir, and there’s nothing to look at, it’s the same as the other four, we have a gluttonous blood sucking vampire in town!”
Clearly similar crimes have already occurred in Lawrence before. Four to be exact!
“Yes, Sargent, this does seem like it’s done by the same person!” says Johnson. Thinking of the previous four murders, he tries to remember as much as possible about them so that he can find some connection between them.
First murder, Mr. Adam Walsh, a successful Entrepreneur, he was killed outside his own firm in the Northern parts of Lawrence.

Second, Mr. Lawson, Unemployed, was found dead in an alleyway in Southeast Lawrence.
Third, Miss. Ivory Simson, Student, studies class X in Central Junior High, was found dead right next to Highway 40, west of Lawrence.
Fourth, Mr. Charles, Lawyer, Found dead in his house in the southwestern part of Lawrence.
Now, this was fifth, Miss. Emily, Owner of a shopping mart near Central Junior High, found dead in her own house, northeastern Lawrence.
Other covering the entire Lawrence, there are two things in common among these murders he can think of, first being that, all victims lost entirety of their blood, not even a single drop was spared. Second, except for Mr. Lawson, all others had some connection with Central Junior High!
All these murders started after Mr. Adam visited the junior high as judge for some science festival. Miss. Ivory was a student there, Mr. Charles saved couple of students who were caught for an accident case and Miss. Emily owned a shopping mart near that same high school.
Obviously, this fact has not avoided Johnson’s keen eyes. They had even tested everyone from Central Junior High to find out if any vampire was hiding in there; however, this effort was also in vain. After that, they even made investigations to find if any other type of super human entity was present in or close to the school, such as mages, beasts, etc. but nothing worked out and now they seem to have hit a dead end.
Unable to find anything useful, Johnson gets up and walks out of the house. Then, he lets out a long sigh, and says, “We cannot solve this case! These supernatural beings are out our comprehension. We have to report it to the higher ups and let them send some expert who has experience in dealing with these.”
Matt stares at Inspector Johnson’s helplessness and sighs. He has worked with this Inspector for more than five years now, and he has never seen he superior asking for assistance from anyone!
However, he keeps his thoughts to himself, and says, “Yes, Sir.”
..
Next Morning, Police Station.
“Sir, I have already sent all the information from our investigations on the five murders to the head office. We will be getting a replay shortly,” reports Matt.
“Ok,” was the only response from Johnson.
As they were conversing, ‘Beep!’ sounds from Matt’s computer. Matt, who was sipping his morning coffee, goes to his computer to check the message; however, after reading the message the cup in his hand falls down, with Matt staring at his computer screen in utter shock!
There was only two lines to this message. It read,
“Mr. X has accepted the case.”
“He will be boarding flight this weekend, and will be in Lawrence by Monday, August 8.”
Who doesn’t know Mr. X? He is a Wind elemental Archmage and the most famous detective in the entire world. An Archmage! There are only a handful of them in the entire world! He has taken up 32 cases until now, and not one of them was left unresolved. In addition, he himself would approach the police department for the cases he is interested in, and no one knows how he gets the case info or where he lives or how he looks; not even what his real name is! The most important thing is, in all these cases the culprits would be found in different states, some would be dead where as some wound have lost limbs, it’s like he personally administered justice upon them. Some would call him a demon, some say he is a hero of justice; however, the government does not care about any of it, not if they are getting support of an Archmage, and as for the states of these criminals are concerned, they could not care less about it. The only thing that no one can refute is that this Mr. X is a true Genius!
