17. Preparations

17. Preparations

The preparations took some time.

The simple traps they could bring out, were actually quite impressive.

They were quick and efficient, even the weakest of the troop had a few ideas. The education was truly top notch in the top sects, which was no surprise.

They had several innovative ideas creating traps around the tower, as well as setting up a very defensible makeshift camp a few minutes walk away from the tower.

Bin ji had been quite efficient in her team makeup, every person was able to bring a little bit of value.

Still nothing compared to the traps Yurt and I were cooking up.

His specialty was building, and he was the main force behind our new temporary base of operations. That didn't stop him setting up some impressive traps. His ability to manipulate earth was far and away the best in the team.

Allowing him to make many pitfalls around the tower.

Now we were just playing a waiting game. We had a good amount of supplies.

Bin ji and I were going to be slowly taking out the construct over a period of a few weeks.

So we had a working plan for the next few weeks to lie low and scout out around us. Confirming the maps the Sect leaders of the War had given us. From there we could slowly build up merits.

Everyone seemed pretty happy with that plan.

As we made our makeshift cave, Yurt quickly pulled me to the side.

"What's your plan with all this, you could easily stay in the sect and reach golden core within a year or two of cultivation. Why are you here?"

I stared at him for quite some time but he was serious in his questioning. Not removing his gaze.

"I want to build my own power base in the sect. My own prestige, not just as someone who emerged from his master as a Golden Core. That's no path to power and respect."

Yurt was unconvinced, I had to give him credit, he was far smarter than he portrayed. Making him quite dangerous, still at the level he was at, I could take him out whenever I wanted, of that much I was very confident.

"I don't believe you."

"I don't need you to believe me, one of us is the chief disciple of a grand elder, the other is a weak Foundation Building cultivator without any backing."

He nodded at that. He was in agreement at least for now. He walked off to continue his building of the fortifications for the outpost.

The others finally had a reason to be a bit proud of themselves, so they were in a better mood than they probably should have been.

Bin ji joined me, nodding at Yurt.

"What was that all about? I've never seen him with an actual expression on his face."

" A disagreement is all, I want to be a bit more aggressive with our tactics, while Yurt was trying to talk me out of such a course."

Bin Ji nodded, her face expressionless.

"Well for once I agree with Yurt, we do need to have a general strategy meeting soon, otherwise there might be some issues."

I just nodded and left the rest of the troop to their work.

Walking up to the Tower, I could feel the connection that was still present between me and the construct, my energy slowly bleeding it of all existence.

I knew that when I finished off this construct, the crystal left behind would be more than enough to get me up to Core formation.

Still there wasn't any point in rushing it. There was no need to get in contact with the Prime while he was still recovering from the soul damage. At his level it is not so easy to recover from soul damage.

Still, It would be worth getting a lay of the land.

Moving around the construct wasn't difficult, moving at my full speed, the creature couldn't even come close to getting me.

Walking up the stairs, I laid traps of my own here as well. I wasn't sure what the result of the planning meeting would be, but still I would like to be prepared for all eventualities.

Reaching the peak, the floor above the one we teleported to, I was greeted with a fantastic view.

I could see the dip in the plains that spread out before, where the others were setting up camp. Apart from that dip however all around us the floating plains looked very similar to each other.

There was a small mortal town about thirty kilometres away.

Its tiny walls being adequate protection from any of the surrounding beasts.

It was a peaceful place, it was soon going to be ruined however.

I planned to make this into one of the major battle grounds of the War. It would just take a few weeks to set everything up.

A relief team for the members of the Demon Hair sect would be coming. I had seen enough communication talismans and warning arrays that once linked to other places for me to think otherwise.

So we would be ready. Turn this into one of the greatest battlegrounds.

My energy could do more than just kill the construct. It could also change the runic script in its makeup, to make it follow my commands.

With my expertise in formations and arrays mixed with it, I would soon have a peak Core formation Construct under my control.

Once that was done and I got it so it could begin moving around within a larger radius around the tower. Then we could properly begin having some fun.

Still that would take quite some time. I didn't want to cultivate and risk growing too quickly. I had time to plan a bit, and let the prime recover properly.

Moving back through the tower, I dissolved all the dead bodys as I went. The rooms were probably cleaner than they had ever been, the yellow energy had become its own liquid, moving around the tower at its own whim, by the time we had gotten to the bottom floor, it had become its own wave of energy.

Jumping with relish onto the construct, it soaked in quickly, with the new force applied, the time for me to be able to control it was fast approaching.

So began my walk back to the camp, to see what progress had been made.
