It was a good ten minutes before I couldn’t hear the groggy footsteps of Savros, the wet sound of his pants disappeared as I also sensed his presence fade from the cave. I sat up in the water, listening to the sound of excess water pouring off me and back into the pool. Now it felt lonely, it was quiet and… I can’t feel cold but I am in a way.
Looking down into the pool I saw my reflection; I was still me, but I had silver eyes and beautiful blue lips with glitter twinkling. My hair was brighter and glowing, it has this extra soft look to it as if every time I moved it would wisp to the side as if there was a tiny bit of wind. Hesitating, I pulled my lips up showing what I feared; two sets of two sharp teeth. One smaller than the other but they were both pearl white while the rest of my teeth were snow white.
Closing my eyes I breathed in the air around me, still smelling the flower infused water even stronger now, Savros and a group of other vampires down the hall of the cave. I feared them; they had more knowledge of who they are and how to use what ever power they have. I was still a…
“Fledgling,” I heard the dark, sexy voice of the Lunar Goddess sliding into reality and out of my head. “Only you can see me Sanity. Open your eyes.”
I opened one silver eye to look around. Once I spotted her, she seemed heavenly; Glowed a soft white, her skin pale but not the extreme pale of her children, and she too had white hair and silver eyes. Her appearance reflected mine but her face was less heart-shaped than mine.
“Can you at least give me a name what to call you?” I whispered, “I’m not trying to be rude or anything –”
“Destiny,” She quickly replied, “Just call me Destiny. Seems a bit ironic but it should be something that fits right?”
Destiny walked – more like floated – her way to me. She looked down the hallway and gave a soft smile, “So conflicted, it is so amusing to watch.”
I frowned, she was talking about Savros and I.
“I’m sure it will fade,” I had opened my other eye to hide them and watch the flower petals sway in the water every bit I moved. “I think he just doesn’t want to anger you; I think his attraction is more for you than me.”

Her laugh was like bells, it echoed the walls but only for me. “He doesn’t want o anger me, that is correct, my Reflection, but he is still is and always has been attracted to you, Sanity. We may be the same being but we are different goddesses. Both of us are the Goddesses of Death, the Moon and the Soul, but you are just the current version of me. I have been freed since the vial has been opened; that was my victory against the vicious Guardian. I finally had my avatar live to the point of this moment. Now you must kill him in order to be free yourself.”
“So your war is now mine?” I glared at her, I felt her shiver.
She nodded slowly, carefully it seemed. “Yes, but you are stronger than I am since my soul is powered by the moon. Your’s was born on Earth and then Moon. I am you, your mother and your ancestor, not the Lunar Priestess.”
She spat out “Lunar Priestess” as if it had sickened her. To be fair, my… The High Priestess did trap her here for eons.
“That is another lesson to be taught later,” She turned and looked at the moon with such lust and hope it hurt my chest. “I need to tend to those that died tonight.” With a heavy sigh, she turned her head so I only saw half her face and the frown, then tears slid down her face like wishing stars, “I am sorry for your loss in such a short time. Kill him, I shall empower you and help you, just save this world from him.”
Her anger was felt in the water as it started to boil and heat up, the air filled with mist as it met the cool air.
“I have my promise to keep since you kept yours, but if you need me,” She pointed to the moon, “Just pray for me.”
I watched her walk to the moon and as she passed the border of space and this realm, I felt the relief and freedom that Destiny did. My life was now more confusing, but some answers were answered.
I am the new Lunar Goddess, of Death, the Moon and the Soul. There is two of us, one taking the Earth and one the Moon.
I am stronger than the older one, it seems she plans on me taking over. What do gods become once they die? Would she be a star?
Savros likes me, but what am I going to do with this new information? It was such a small amount, but it was revealing a lot. I was just a human adult not too long ago and now I’m stuck in a cave for a tiny bit of time before I must kill someone to save the world (kind of cliché). And what does Destiny mean that she was sorry for my loss? I put my hands over my eyes and dunk my body into the water and will the pool to be deeper.
It did so suddenly I breathed in water. I was screaming and swimming franticly to get to the top so I could get air and then realized before I hit the crest of the water… I can breathe in the water. I smiled at myself, I was so silly. I felt alive as I swam back deeper into the pool.
I know all too well that I would have to discover the worst part of the recent past soon but I needed to straighten out my emotions first. I felt like I was going through puberty twice. A new rollercoaster and this one is deadlier than before.
