I zoned out as we passed through the skies of New hope. The city had been made and built after the 2nd civil war. It was were the head quarters for the heroes associations as well as no less then 5 Merc companies and various powerful criminal syndicates.
Still my mind barely registered my surroundings. I was over stimulated. Tired. And every time I thought things would calm down another jet of flame would leave my body. I had not been burned by the flames but they were new. I don't like new. New meant change and change always made me uncomfortable.
So I sat in the force bubble floating over the skylights and skyscrapers rocking back and forth just trying to keep my calm. I looked up as we neared the Ark. The term given to the heroes association HQ. It had originally been a derogatory term by various church groups. Though whatever that had been meant to mean had been lost to time.
The building was the largest structure in the city. Heroes flew in or walked in through the entrance sometimes carrying villains of just passing through the various landing pads.
The 1,500 feet structure was lighted by spotlights and a stylized fist with the words "de iustitia quaerimus" below it. In the front of the building sat 5 statutes of the current iteration of the united. The united was a team of the strongest heroes in the world and was a joint global operation.
Its members included Florida man in his red, white, and blue spandex outfit rippling with muscles as he carried a high tech looking Gatling gun.
Tide breaker with her watery scales and wings made of ice.
Otoku wearing his signature leather jacket and face mask while a katana was strapped to his side.
While two girls stood side to side. Feme fatale in her leather full body costume accentuated by a pink a face mask and Amazon who's statue was designed to change bodies each day.
Each statue was made using engineer designed 3d printers. Making them seem like they were right there watching and judging you for your every action.
They were the united. The strongest group of heroes in the entire world. They were who you called in when a dictator needed to be disposed of or some power released a kaiju in the city. Last I heard they were Europe dealing with the golem maker disaster.
Even then the impressive sight was one id been acclimated to for years and was not enough to draw me out of my shell. The fire around me certainly wasn't helping me to calm down and process my surroundings.
Eventually sphere floated me and himself through a large hanger bag. An older lady greeted him and they said a few words but I couldn't make out what was being said.
Then we got moving. Taking a left from the hanger bay we entered a large white room. The lights in the room were dimmed, and blinked in what I thought was a calming matter.

Sphere gave me two pairs of thumbs up as he released the bubble he'd trapped me in. The flames letting a violent roar turning green with my confusion.
"This is one of our calming rooms. Feel free to burn up, not even tidebreaker could break this place easily!" He said cheerily before leaving. The door sealing shut behind him as one of my favorite songs immediately started to play.
It didn't occur to me at the time to wonder how they gained access to my playlist and I wasn't in much of a state to care. The room helped me calm down. And after about an hour my emotions calmed down and the flames that jetted out of me began to recede into my body.
At the furthest end of the room, almost an entire football field away an older but still attractive lady with strawberry hair and a kind but stern motion slowly made her approach.
She moved methodically and slowly ensuring that I had time to process her and see every step she took as she came towards me. I wanted to say that this was all way to much and more then a little demeaning.
But that would be a lie. If I didn't have time to get used to her presence I probably would have freaked out or become nervous with another person in the room. It was how both Jullia and Vannessa aprouched me when I was having my days.
This day. This day was like the worst of my bad days taken to their logical extreme. So, I found myself appreciating the women instead.
"Hello, is your name Vanessa?' The women asked once she had stopped about 5 feet in front of me. She waited patiently for me to respond. And I responded in turn. She asked me simple questions like what was my favorite food or my favorite super hero, Florida man was my favorite, while she walked me through a corridor that was colored in simple whites and blacks In easy dercernable patterns.
Eventually we came to an office with a plaque reading "Larria Welch: Head Savant Councilor" and in a very plush room sat my sister who upon my arrival seemed to sag a little. Was she mad? Angry? Maybe I did something wrong. I didn't know what to think and seeing my sister thier almost cuased me to start panicking.
My sister gave me the hand sign for relieved. It was something my sister had come up with when I very young. Since I couldn't read body language very well we had instead used hand signs each sigh representing a different emotion or meaning.
"Vannessa please take a seat" Larria said in a polite tone and I obliged. To my delight I realized the seat was made of puzzle leather. A leather designed by an engineer specifically to adapt to people autism. Able to change anything from it's temperature to even it's texture based on a Nerul scan it took of it's user.
I looked up and noticed that Larria had a small smile on her face. Whether she was amused by my reaction to the seat or was just trying to be polite I didn't know. I didn't care either. Today had been shitty and this chair felt like I was sitting on heaven. I was damn well going to enjoy it!
"Vannessa your sister here already understand the situation. But as is protocol for my department we're going to be keeping you here for the week until you get a handle on your power. We will of course allow your sister and your friends to come visit you."
Larria waited for me to process what she was saying. And to say I wasn't happy would be an understatement. I could feel the fire react to my anger, as it almost burst out but then a felt a slight pain in my arm. Looking down I noticed a small metal circle had been embedded into the skin. It was as of all my emotions had become muted and my fire had been muted in kind.
"I apologize Vannessa but right now you don't have much control over your powers. And yours is the type of power with high potential for danger and destruction to civilians. This is only a temporary measure and you'll be free to leave once you have more control over your power."
With that she pressed a button I hadn't noticed hidden away under her sleeve. My whole world turned to black as I fell asleep.
