Chapter 1: The cat is out of the bag

With his question, the atmosphere of the room changed. His posture was no longer as relaxed as at the beginning. His hands, which had been crossed in front of him, now rested on the handle of a quite large knife that he hadn't noticed before. The most intimidating thing of all was his gaze, a hard and cold gaze, as if he were observing a wild animal approaching his home, not completely aggressive but prepared. I remained silent for a while as I pondered all of this, when I realized that I still hadn't answered him, and this silence only became more and more accusing.

-My name is Kadir, I'm not really sure where I am... I was at my aunt's store, and I think some boxes fell on me. I don't remember anything else apart from that.-

This whole situation is very confusing. How did I get here? Where is it here? Why is my skin so tanned? Those and many other questions were floating in my mind, and at the same time, it seemed like someone was talking to me.

-...Kadir? Can you hear me?-

Coming out of the trance I was in, I turned to see how the captain was looking at me with a mix of disbelief and concern.

-Are you okay? You seemed a little absent.-

-Oh, I'm sorry. Everything's fine, I have a lot on my mind at the moment, that's all.-

A few more moments passed in silence while the captain seemed to analyze me before speaking again.

-Well, as I was saying, it's best for you to stay lying down for now. I'll soon send our doctor to check your wounds and change your bandages. I hope you like fish, it's one of the few abundant things on this island.-

Island?! Did I just hear that right?! How is it possible that I'm on an island? Did I have a plane crash on the way to the hospital? Apparently, my state of confusion was very apparent on my face because the captain continued speaking.

-You are on Moga Island, I'm going to send someone to explain the situation to you a bit more and bring you food.-

Captain Osat turned around and proceeded to leave the hut where I was. With each of his words, my confusion only increased. At this moment, I was on an island in who knows where, with extensive wounds on my body and, from what I could see around me, no way to contact my family.

There was nothing left but to lie back down and try to figure out as much as possible about my current situation. Once comfortable and with my gaze fixed on the ceiling, a thought came to mind.

-Why is there a giant fang on the ceiling?-

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Captain Osat

As I left the room, my suspicions only grew. A survivor of a shipwreck on this island? Just as we arrived to check for the presence of poachers. Either he's an excellent actor or he really has no idea what's going on. As I head towards the ship, I look for my first officer. In the distance, I can make out his silhouette on one of the railings.

-Parma! Come down here for a moment!- I shouted from a distance, hoping he would hear me. Immediately, the figure of the small Felyne turned in the direction of my shout. Thanks to his incredible agility, he was soon on solid ground and running towards me.

-Captain, Parma reporting in!-

-At ease, Parma. I just came from talking to our...guest. It seems he's still a bit confused. Stay with him in case he needs anything.-

After finishing the sentence, I move closer to Parma's ears to prevent anyone else from hearing.

-Try to get as much information from him as possible, and if necessary... you know what to do.-

Upon hearing this, Parma straightens up and salutes.

-At your command, Captain!-

With that, Parma begins to move away toward our warehouse, while I have to report all of this.

-The guild is not going to like any of this one bit. Hopefully, they'll only send a receptionist...but when have I ever been lucky?"

Once inside the cabin, I start writing letters and reports at my old desk, the less glamorous side of the guild, bureaucracy.

I don't know when I fell asleep, but by the time I woke up, the day had already ended. The nights were much more beautiful here, that's for sure. I tried to identify some constellations in the sky, something I've liked to do since I was a child, but to my surprise, there wasn't a single one that I could recognize, another concern to add to the list. For now, the most important thing is to get food. My stomach was starting to demand it, and the bodily pain had decreased enough for me to be able to sit on my bed.

Inspecting around, I found a tray with some fish, apparently fried, and a mix of steamed vegetables with a lot of rice, and although it seemed to be lacking some seasonings, I couldn't really complain.

As I let my mind wander, my gaze focused on one of the corners, where a cat was lying down. The noise of me getting up and starting to eat had awakened him, and he was stretching.

-Hello, little friend. I'm sorry for waking you up. Do you want some fish?-

I asked as I started to cut a piece of my fillet to give to the adorable kitty. When I looked up from my plate, I could clearly see that the cat was now standing on two legs, staring at me intently.

-Hello Meowster, it's truly a pleasure to see you better, purrlase dont worry about me.-

Hearing the cat speak was the last straw. My body was paralyzed, but I could perfectly feel something starting to rise in my throat and struggling to come out of my mouth.

-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!-
