As the days flew by, September rolled into October, and soon enough, it was January of the new year.
Surprisingly, his birthday was January 1rst. Perhaps, Just like his name, fate played a part in it.
Shin could hardly contain his excitement, as things started to pick up their pace.
Not only had he turned five, a small party attended by only his parents, as well as the neighbors, a nice, "deer-themed" family, product of their quirk.
The interesting part, was while everyone had deer antlers, the father of the family had more moose like antlers. maybe that's why the guy was built like a literal bulky giant.
Oh the things to think about in such a world.
Another thing that was interesting and annoying, was that he was also supposedly starting kindergarten.
He had heard his parents talk about it often.
how he would make friends, learn new things, and give them the chance to work again, as both of them were feeling a bit restless staying at home most of the time.
And so, the morning of his first day there, had finally arrived.
The air was filled with a chill that signaled continuation of winter for a month or two more.
As Shin stood at the gate of the kindergarten, he felt a mix of excitement and nervousness fluttering in his stomach. He looked up at the brightly colored building, its playground bustling with kids.
“Are you ready champ?” Ryo asked, kneeling beside him with a reassuring smile.
“I guess.” Shin said, but his voice had a tinge of annoyance.
No part of him wanted anything to do with annoying, snotty brats, but it is what it is, as he didn't want to disappoint his parents.
He glanced back at his mom, Claire, who stood a few steps behind, her smile warm but slightly teary-eyed.
“This is a big day, sweetheart.” she said softly, brushing a thumb across his cheek, looking in his silver eyes, gained from his grandfather, apparently.
“Just be yourself, and you’ll do great.”
Shin nodded, tightening his grip on his backpack straps. His backpack was bright blue, decorated with stickers of superheroes. And as expected, Mr. All Might was dead center in the design.
“You'll be back, right?” he asked, a bit scared that his new source of comfort, would vanish, like the first life of his.
Claire knelt down, meeting his worried gaze, and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. “Of course, sweetheart. We’re just a phone call away, and we’ll be back right here to pick you up as soon as school’s over.” she assured him, her voice soft but full of warmth, as she planted a kiss on his forehead.
Ryo, sensing his son’s nerves, crouched beside them, his voice steady and kind. “Hey, Shin. Remember, we’re not going anywhere. Your mom and I will be right here waiting at the end of the day.” Ryo spoke. “And, I bet you’ll have so much fun, you might not even want to leave.” he said, giving him a wink.
Claire laughed softly, wiping a stray tear from her cheek. “He’s right, you know.” she added. “But we’ll be back, no matter what. You can count on that.”
Shin looked at them both, feeling his worry ease just a little. He took a deep breath and nodded, a small smile creeping onto his face. “Okay. But you better be here when I get back.” he said, trying to sound as serious as a five year old could.

“We promise champ.” Ryo replied, giving him a final squeeze on the shoulder.
As they walked through the gate, a wave of children’s laughter washed over him. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad.
He saw his parents wave at him as he stepped into the classroom, which was filled with colorful decorations and an inviting atmosphere. A cheerful teacher greeted him, her voice warm and welcoming. “Hello, there little one! I’m Ms. Sato, and I’m so excited to meet all of you!” she spoke, looking at shin who entered, and then the other kids.
As Shin settled into a small circle of kids, he looked around. Some were already talking and laughing, while others were shyly holding back.
Ms. Sato clapped her hands to gather the kids’ attention, a bright smile lighting up her face. "Alright, everyone! Let’s take turns introducing ourselves. Just tell us your name and something you like!” She gestured to the first child, who stood up shyly, and the introductions began.
When it was Shin’s turn, he got to his feet confidently and gave a small nod to Ms. Sato. “My name is Shin, and I like training my quirk, and learning about heroes.” he said, his tone calm, albeit a bit nervous, almost too mature for his age. The teacher raised her eyebrows, amused by his composed demeanor but brushed it off with a chuckle.
“Well Shin, I can tell you’ll have a great time here! We have lots of games and even some books about heroes!” she said, encouragingly. Shin sat down, glancing around the circle as the other kids introduced themselves with various interests: some liked drawing, some enjoyed playing with blocks, and one kid talked about his dad’s cool motorbike.
One of them even went on a small rant about her own quirk, as it had made her into some kind of fairy, with small wings and such, her imagination blowing everything out of proportion.
Later, during lunch, Shin sat by himself at first, content with watching the other kids run around and chat loudly. It was kinda amusing to watch the little kids make a mess, knowing he didn't have to clean it up thankfully. But before he could get too lost in thought, a boy with black, smooth hair and a big grin plopped down next to him.
“Hey! I like your shirt!” the boy said, pointing to the All Might emblem on Shin’s chest. “I like All Might too! He’s my favorite hero!” His eyes sparkled with genuine excitement.
Shin looked at him, surprised and a little amused. “Thanks.” he replied, a small smile breaking through. “Yeah, he’s pretty cool. I'm Shin. What’s your name?”
“Haruto!” the boy replied, scooting closer. “Do you wanna play hero games after lunch? We can pretend to be All Might and… uh… Endeavor!” He raised his fists enthusiastically, already acting out a hero pose.
Shin chuckled, nodding. “Alright, Alright. But I’m gonna be All Might.”
"No way! i'm gonna be All Might!" The boy argued, his small face full with emotion.
"Fine, Fine." Shin said. I guess some playing around would be a good way to pass the time.
The rest of the day flew by in a blur of laughter, Mostly from Haruto. The kid was practically sunshine incarnate, unlike Shin's more composed demeanor. Some learning About stuff he already knew, and games.
Ms. Sato led them in activities, and Shin found himself immersed in painting, and a little bit of running during recess. As expected, He was the fastest kid around, as his quirk was literally all about speed, much to the dismay of the other kids.
He even made another friend, by the name of Miyu, who apparently liked how fast he was, and said she would be faster than him.
Oh how simple things were for kids.
As the day came to a close, Ryo and Claire were waiting at the gate, grinning widely.
“How was it, champ?” Ryo asked, crouching down to meet Shin’s eyes.
“It was fine. I two friends though.” Shin exclaimed, his face lighting up.
“Really? That's my boy!” Claire spoke, beaming at him.
The walk home consisted of Shin talking about the day, much to the interest of his parents. How Haruto's Quirk was called sticky fingers, making him able to stick anything on his fingers. How Miyu was competitive as all hell. How they looked. Everything really, as his parent's didn't let a single detail go unspoken.
