Nice. I thought to myself, reading the summary of the latest, biggest modpack released for my favorite game.
"The Forgotten Codex" billed itself to be a gritty but uniquely balanced pack based somewhat around Requiem combined with Oordinator - with all of the importance of each perk point of the former, but with each perk doing wildly more and interesting things such as in the latter. With several other unique mechanics thrown in along with the Forgotten Codex's own series of Forgotten mods and then all the requisite other mods and other things used and thrown in by a lot of other major packs and so forth.
I'll be honest, I didn't really read through all of them. I was kind of impatient to try out what they called the unique balance (and how and why it would be different from any other requiem pack xyz) plus it's not like it seems to be including too much other stuff I haven't already seen before from other packs...
Graphical updates, tweaks and changes to weather and lighting, audio overhauls, creature additions and variations, tons of living and reacting world mods like OBIS and CWO and such. Seem to have thrown in a new kinda kingdom building mod as well, I wonder how that works.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
The less to be said about the more... adult mods the better, but they were present on the list as well and had their place for immersion; sometimes.
I clicked download and install in Wabbajack and away to the races I went.
No, quite literally - even with my premium membership is was gonna take awhile, 280 gigs worth of mods is quite a long download and install but what can you do. So I went out for a bit and have some fun while I was waiting.
I figured it was a good thing I was out of work for this coming weekend. Should be a good amount of time to binge play this and form an opinion or three on it.
Imagine my joy when I got home Friday afternoon to find the install process complete. I took some time to de-stress from work, showering and stuffing my face in preparation for a long gaming session - loaded myself up with snacks and a drink and sat down to press play.
Imagine my surprise when instead of the game launching and hearing the standard opening or something custom, everything went black.
And now imagine my shock when I woke up - yes, not saw on a screen or imagined or some shit but literally woke up - in a jail cell exactly reminiscent of Live Another Life's opening.
"..... Well, Shit."
