Wake up!

“Wake up…”

A man clenched his hands and opened his eyes frantically searching for something or someone.

“I-Where… Where am I?”, he screamed.

Still not over the shock he looked down. Only to find himself sitting on top of sand.

“Sand…?”

He jolted up, trying to brush off the sand all over his body.

“I felt like I was suffocating…”

“I’m glad you’re alright.”, another man sighed in relief.

“Timmy?”

The other man nodded and replied, “I thought you were a goner Jim.”

Jim smiled and nodded his head, “Aren’t you glad that I’m not…”, he looked around as his smile faded away, “Or else you’d be alone in this… desert?”

Jim looked at Timmy with a worried look, “Where are we?”

“How would I know?”, Timmy screamed.

“It looks like a desert…”

“It certainly does.”

“Maybe because it is.”

“You said it…”

“I’m thirsty…”, replied Jim.

“Well…”, Timmy sighed. “There doesn’t seem to be any water around… us.”

“I- I can’t remember what… we were doing…”, Jim started to shake.

“Calm down Jim.”, replied Timmy.

“You were driving a car… a truck suddenly hit you.”, he added.

“You’re right… You’re right Timmy!”

He looked around excitedly, “WE GOT TRANSPORTED INTO ANOTHER WORLD!” and screamed to the top of his longs.

“Damn… I’m the only one here! You don’t need to scream…”

“Also why are you even so excited… are you some kind of a secret sand enjoyer because that’s all I see. Sand and Sand… Sands in my pockets!”, Timmy added in frustration.

“And you know the best part? This is better than my office job.”, smiled Jim.

Timmy looked at him and sighed, “Please tell me you’re being sarcastic. Please…”, he sighed again, “I would take anything over this… especially a cubicle with an air conditioner…”

Jim scoffed, “Timmy… Timmy, you wouldn’t get it…”, he sighed, “But… I am a bit thirsty… are you not?”

Timmy sighed a no.

“We must find a river…”

“Where will we find a river in the middle of a desert…?”

“There are always rivers… Always…”

“What if there aren’t any rivers in this world…?”

“Are we even sure we’re in another world?”, Jim asked while laughing. “Maybe this is the Sahara.”

“I don’t know…”, Timmy replied.

“It’s fine Timmy…”

“But do you know what I know?”, Jim added.

“Please don’t…”

“We must find a river!”

Timmy sighed again and started to follow Jim who was already on his way in search of a river to fill his thirst.
