“Why don’t you come sit down here…”, Jim patted the area beside him, “… Right beside me…”
“After dealing with those savages…”
Timmy sat down and replied, “Savages? That’s a bit rude…”
“They kidnapped us!”
“Still rude.”
“Not as rude as kidnapping us!”
Timmy laughed, “You’ve got a point there…”
He looked at Jim still shivering, “So, what’s the plan now?”
“I feel like I have to find the river…”
“Why are you so into finding that river?”
“I just do… and didn’t I tell you?”
“You feel thirsty?”
Jim nodded.
“it's night-time now… It has at least been a day since we’ve gotten here and we’re still alright.”, said Timmy.
“I don’t feel alright…”, Jim’s shivering kept on increasing.
“Besides… didn’t we meet for the first time besides the river?”
Timmy nodded and smiled, “It was the best day of my life, you even gave me my name.”
Jim laughed, “What kind of a kid doesn’t have a name…?”
“The one with no parents.”
Jim looked at Timmy with sad eyes, “I’m sorry…”
“It’s fine. I still had you.”, Timmy replied and smiled.
Jim joined him and smiled as well, “I wouldn’t call those the good old days…”, he looked up in the sky with no stars, “… Since it was one of many ways I could cope with my life… but they were good.”
He looked at Timmy, “You still haven’t grown up my childhood friend.”

Timmy looked at Jim’s eyes, “Some people just don’t… when was the last time we talked?”
“It’s been years.” Jim laughed.
“Years… You know, I have a feeling that the river we’ve been looking for is near…”
“You have a feeling?”
“Well… I know…”
“How?”
“You’re omnipotent…”, Timmy laughed and got up, “I’m omniscient.”, and started walking behind where they were sitting.
“Is that your power?”, asked a curious Jim.
Timmy didn’t reply, he kept on walking towards the river which suddenly appeared.
“That wasn’t there…”, Jim was shocked, “Hey! Wait for me… Timmy…”
Timmy didn’t listen, nor did he turn back.
Jim blacked out again but he woke up soon after he found himself near the river. A river that was calling his name.
“I’m thirsty…”, he thought to himself and tried to drink the water.
He kept on drinking it, he didn’t stop but no matter how hard he tried and how much he drank, his thirst was still there with him.
“What’s going on…”, he drank again, “Why can’t…”, he kept on drinking, “Why am I still so thirsty?”, he screamed. He looked up in anguish with the river becoming large.
“What’s going on?”, Jim was scared.
The river suddenly engulfed the entire area including Jim. There was no more sand, only water.
Jim opened his eyes, “Water? I-I can’t breathe…” he tried to scream but he couldn’t.
“Calm down.”, said Timmy.
“You can speak…”, he added as he went near Jim.
“Timmy… What’s going on?”
Timmy let out a somber smile and spoke, “Do you remember what happened before we met?”
“I…”, Jim took a moment to recall everything. “I was coming home… to our… my hometown…”
Glug.
“What?”, Jim added, getting more scared.
Timmy put his hands on Jim’s shoulders, “Then what?”
“Then…”, he looked at Timmy, “A truck hit my… car?”
“Yes, a truck hit your car and you crashed in a river.”
“How do you know that? You weren’t there with me…”
Timmy smiled, “I was always there with you.”
Jim was distraught, he couldn’t bring himself to ask a question. A question that he wanted to ask. A question that he knew he had to ask.
“Am I dead?”, Jim waited for an answer.
Timmy smiled again, “I don’t know Jimmy. After all…”
Sounds of police cars and ambulances fill the scene.
“An accident took place here…” murmured the crowd.
“They pulled out a body…”
“It’s so sad…”
A person pulled Jim through the stretcher and onto the ambulance.
Another person came near Jim, a person that he knew and was close to.
“Will he be alright?”
