Liana and Myke rushed to the ladder. They had to escape before the zombies arrive or they will be buried alive by the sheer number of them.
Liana was faster, with a couple of jumps she got out of the elevator shaft in no time. Myke followed her climbing as fast as he could.
As they go out of the store the zombies were already here and attacked right away.
Liana rushed forward cutting a zombie int two in the process, then she made a full revolution with her arms spread out cutting a couple of heads off and jumped six meters to the side making a somersault in the air and landing elegantly on the roof of car wreckage with one knee touching the roof and the arm with the sword up in the air.
Myke looked at the amazing demonstration. Those were some impossible cat-like moves. He has never seen such elegant acrobatic before.
Liana looked at him with an unhappy face.
“Stop messing around and fight, damn it.” She screamed.
This brought him back to reality. The zombies were already just a couple of meters away from him.
He grasped the situation quickly. With the adrenaline pumping wildly through his veins a smile appeared on his face. The time had finally come to test his new magic powers in a real battle.
The zombies were everywhere, and more were coming.
Liana looked troubled. She prepared to jump and screamed.
“Start chanting already, if you wait any longer you won’t have time to cast the spell stupid!”
Myke just smiled at her. He activated the Firebolt spell in his right hand and pointed at the incoming zombies.
He saw his mana was grown to hundred-twenty MP.
“Let’s see how much damage this spell does.” He muttered.
He started rapid firing at the zombies.
Akira was amazing. With the magic knowledge growing he was now able to shoot two shots per second. The mana consumption has also dropped to only two MP per shot.
The three nearest zombies in front of him getting hit by the first shot and were blown to pieces right away. The next shot got through the place where they were half a second ago and hit the zombies behind them.
It was a massacre.
More explosions followed, rotten flesh and blood were flying in all directions.
Myke was pleased. Now it was time for the next experiment.
A second magic circle appeared on his left hand and he pointed it in the opposite direction.
“Time to die rotten monsters!” He grinned and started shooting slowly rotating simultaneously in both directions.
It was Liana's turn to be shocked by the massacre in front of her.
Myke was in the center of an exploding fire inferno disintegrating everything in his vicinity. The zombies were tightly packed, and every shot killed multiple of them. The shockwave packed the rest even more tightly and the firebolts got even more effective.
This wasn’t a battle anymore it looked like war.
But in reality, it was one-sided extermination.
Myke made one full circle and stopped. He checked his MP the bar was half full.
In less than fifteen-second it was over. It took another five seconds for the dust and smoke to clear.

Myke looked around searching for more, but all zombies were dead. They were turned in a smoking pile of burned chunks of rotten meat and bones.
From the explosions near him, his ears hurt, and he could hear only a peep sound, but he didn’t care.
He annihilated all of them in no time. This greatly exceeded his expectations.
Overjoyed he looked at the shocked Liana and gestured to her to move to the buildings on the opposite side of the street. He started also running in this direction.
They had to get out of here. He knew that after these fireworks every zombie in the city was on its way here.
The experiments went perfectly, and he didn’t want to waste more mana.
Liana snapped out of the shock and followed after him.
Before they reached the other side, a loud quarrel came from the left. In the next moment, multiple zombies flew in the air. Something heavy was running in their direction smashing the zombies on its way.
They both looked at it and at this moment the big thing jumped over the pile of corpses and landed around ten meters away from them.
Myke looked with disgust at the hideous thing that stood before them. It was over four meters big staying on his two feet. Its long thick arms ended in big fists and reached down to the ground giving it more support for the big body, just like a gorilla would stand.
It was an undead monster made of the corpses of many zombies fused together.
Countless eyes from all over its body looked at them.
It didn’t have a separate head or neck, but just a triangular extension from its shoulders with only one big hole for a mouth with bones as teeth.
Multiple extremities were sticking out here and there from its body moving randomly making the sight even more terrifying.
Liana was slowly moving backward away from the monster.
“Myke, we have to run!” She said it with a low trembling voice keeping her eyes on the monster. “This is a damn zogre the ultimate zombie abomination.”
Myke raised his arms and shoot two firebolts at the zogre.
The two firebolts hit the zogre simultaneously at the same place on its chest and exploded.
The zogre was unharmed.
It raised its arms and a loud furious roar came out of its mouth. It then hit the ground with its fists and started storming at them.
“Run!” Liana shouted at him and started running to the nearest building.
Without hesitation, Myke followed her.
The monster was very fast and agile for its size. It got to the place where they were just a moment ago in no time and turned in their direction to follow them. Because of the inertia, it continued for a while in his original direction sliding on the ground and then immediately started sprinting toward them.
Because of all the gore, the ground was slippery, and it couldn’t get a good grip at first, but then it hit the ground with its fists, and using its arm as additional support it accelerated fast.
They reached the building and entered through the broken door.
The zogre was too big for the door but with a high velocity, it just blasted the whole wall and entered after them.
Liana and Myke rushed through the building to the other side and the zorge followed them forcing his way through the walls.
Rushing out on the other side they came to a parking space between the surrounding buildings full of car wreckages.
“How can we stop this thing?”
“It hates all living things. It won’t stop until it kills us and assimilates our flesh and mana.”
“So, we have to kill it first?”
“Yes, but it won’t be easy. The bastard has multiple brains and lots of mana. It is very tough to kill.”
“So basically, we have to blow it into pieces and make sure all the brains are dead?”
“That is one way to kill it.”
Myke looked at Liana. She had around twenty-five MP left. Her cat-like acrobatics were powered by magic after all.
He had around sixty MP left. Shooting low energy firebolts doesn’t work, so they needed a new plan.
“Can you cast more powerful spells then firebolt?”
“I can overcharge the firebolts and shoot two at the same time. I have enough magic left for one such shot.”
Liana nodded. “This can work! Even if it is not enough to kill the bastard the damage should be enough for me to finish it before it regenerates.”
“Overcharging needs some time and I can’t stop the shot after I start charging the magic circle. You have to keep it confined at one place while I charge the spell and shoot.”
“Leave it to me.” Liana sounded pretty confident
The sounds of crashing walls got louder and at the next moment, the zogre flew out through the wall.
The eyes on his body looked at all directions and as soon as some found them the rest of them looked also in their direction.
It faced them and raised its arms. A loud roar came from its mouth it hit the ground with its fists and charged at them.
The zogre ran in a straight-line busting through the car wreckages as if they weren’t there.
This time Liana also ran at it.
When she was a couple of meters away she jumped, rotated in the air, and sliced at the zogre. She landed thereafter elegantly on her feet.
The zogre continued for couple more meters before it managed to stop, turned around facing Liana roared, and hit the ground with its fists again. It then immediately started charging at her.
Myke was relieved. It took the bait and ignored him.
Now everything was up to Liana.
Liana rushed again toward the zogre, jumped, and slashed landing elegantly again on her feet.
This scene repeated itself a couple more times. The zogre got more and more furious. It forgot completely about Myke and turned its whole attention to Liana.
Myke was amazed. Even though the zogre was created from zombies it was much more intelligent. Was this because of the amount of mana it had?
Liana ran to a relatively undamaged building and jumped ten meters vertically on a balcony on the fourth floor.
The zogre followed her to the building and tried to jump after her. It reached only the balcony on the second floor though and grabbed it.
The balcony couldn’t handle the extra weight and broke down to the ground.
The zogre fell on its back with the remains of the balcony on top of it. Without hesitation, it pushed the balcony remains to the side and started climbing the wall.
It just thrust its big fists through the wall making holes for support.
Now it was slow enough. Liana stood on the fourth floor as bait without moving.
This was Myke’s chance.
He started charging the magic circles and Akira calculated the perfect target position and started tracking it in the HUD.
The circles accelerated their rotation and started buzzing, but this time they were more stable as before.
A moment later the magic circles transformed into burning spheres of fire and shoot with high velocity toward their target. The accuracy was 93% this time.
With just one MP left Myke fell to his knees and put his hands on the ground for support.
The overpowered firebolts hit their target and exploded. A moment later a rain of gore covered the area.
The zogre was hit at the back and its torso exploded leaving a big hole in the building. Its arms flew in opposite directions and all it was left were the legs still attached to the hips. Without any other support, the remains of the zogre fell to the ground.
Myke was relived for a second, but then the big arms of the zogre started moving. They had some extremities sticking out of them and now instead of random movements, they coordinated to craw in the direction of the torso and the legs.
This was just like a scene from a horror movie, but Myke was too tired to be afraid. Depleting almost all of his mana he was very tired and everything around him felt distant and slow.
Good that Liana was prepared for this situation. She jumped from the fourth floor and massacred the remaining zogre parts.
She came then to Myke and helped him to stand up.
“Come, big guy, put one hand over my shoulder and I’ll help you walk.”
She hugged him with one arm and together like this they went into the nearest building.
They started climbing the stairs and as they reached the third floor Myke saw in the radar multiple red dots entering the parking space.
