" I'm into- girls " she said with a warm smile
" Wh-what"
What
Wait, wait, wait...
What did she just say? Did she just-
Did Sora just tell that boy that she liked girls?
My mind instantly went blank, as I didn't know how to react to this recent development.
I had always thought Sora to be interested in boys, as she was the stereotypical "beloved" and "popular" princess kind of character. But was my perception of her completely off?
I could feel for the boy, considering his confession was met with such a sudden rejection.
It must have been painful to find out the girl you like isn't even interested in guys in the first place.
I felt kind of sad for him, especially since he was clearly very passionate about his confession and really believed that he had a chance with Sora.
" sorry-" she said still smiling
The boy hopelessly was going to leave the scene when Sora called him back
" I'm sorry! But could you please keep it a secret! " She showed him puppy eyes
" ... anything for you! -"
" Even if I don't have any chance with you to start with- I won't stop supporting you!"
I was surprised by how kindly Sora treated that boy after he had received such a crushing rejection.
Despite the fact that his confession was turned down, his spirit had not been dampened one bit.
I had to admire him for not letting his emotions take over, and for wishing Sora nothing but the best regardless of the outcome of his confession.
I also had to admit I was a bit jealous of his attitude, as I couldn't help but compare myself to him when I heard Sora's rejection.
The way Sora kindly smiled at him in return and asked him to keep her preference a secret was also a nice gesture.
She didn't seem like the type of person who wants to openly reveal her sexuality to the school, and I respected her decision to keep it a quiet affair.
I also had to appreciate how she didn't want to hurt the boy's feelings by outright rejecting his support after he offered to continue being her fan.
The boy then went on and agreed to everything she asked of him, even giving her one last "Anything for you, my beloved princess!" before leaving.
Even though his confession had failed, the girl had no bad blood with him whatsoever, and she had actually managed to end it on a positive note.
Sora sat back down after the boy's departure, looking relieved after that awkward interaction with her obsessive fan.
She picked up her lunch, taking out a sandwich from the tray as she began eating it.
I was still processing the unexpected development I had just witnessed between Sora and her overly attached fan.
But I couldn't just stand there silently while she ate her lunch, so I decided to join her.
I quietly sat down next to her, letting her continue eating as I waited for her to talk first.
Sora finished her sandwich and proceeded to take a sip from her drink. She then turned to look at me, a warm smile on her face, as if nothing had happened earlier between her and the boy.
"So, how was your class?" She finally asked, looking right at me with a genuine looking smile.
For some reason I felt awkward talking to her after witnessing her whole confession incident. I was still processing everything I had heard, and I felt sort of strange talking to her right after she had such a close encounter with romance.
"Um... yeah, my classes were good. Nothing much happened, other than some boring lectures as usual" I responded, looking back at her with an equally genuine looking smile as I responded.
I was trying to keep the conversation light, not really wanting to go beyond surface level discussion due to the recent developments with her and that boy.
Sora asked about what I think about her being voted to be a part of the student council
"Well, I think that's great news. Considering your status as the school's popular girl, I think it was inevitable for people to vote you in so quickly as student council member." I replied, not wanting to be overly direct or offensive in my answer.
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
In reality, it had been no surprise to me that she had been instantly voted in to be a student council member, but I didn't feel like this was the right moment to mention my honest thoughts.
Luckily for me, Sora didn't push the conversation further after my response. She seemed content with what I said, and was now simply eating, silently enjoying her meal.
The silence began to feel a little bit awkward to me, as the conversation I had just had with her regarding being voted in had been relatively shallow, and I wasn't sure what to say next.
Thankfully, Sora had anticipated my awkward silence, and she broke it by asking me what my favorite subjects were.
"Oh um... well, I would have to say science, especially biology. I like understanding the way living things work from an internal point of view." I replied, trying to give as detailed answer as I could so she wouldn't think I was being bland or boring.
"Well, that's pretty interesting" she responded back to me with a bright smile.
Sora had clearly taken my reply with genuine interest, which was a relief to me. Having her enjoy my answers was a nice bonus, and I was glad she wanted to keep the conversation going.
Sora continued smiling at me, her look of fascination on her face as she kept listening to my responses.
I could feel myself starting to get a little more relaxed around her, but I still couldn't shake the weird feeling of awkwardness that I was having after witnessing her confession earlier.
I asked her about what happened with ai and matsuki her friends before since they been starring at her a lot for talking to me that one time
"Oh, that? Well, Ai and Matsuki just have their own thoughts about whether or not I should be hanging out with a guy like you." Sora replied with a light shrug, clearly dismissing the whole situation as if it was nothing.
"Don't worry, they mean well, they're only being cautious" she quickly added, trying to reassure me that it would not affect anything between us.
"Yeah, I guess so" I responded back to her, deciding to let it go for now as well.
"But don't worry, I'm sure they'll come around eventually and they won't give you any trouble about it" Sora responded back with another confident smile and a wave of reassuring attitude.
I was relieved to see that Sora didn't seem bothered by her friend's reactions towards her interaction with me.
In fact: to my amazement, she seemed to not pay them any mind at all, being much more focused on keeping our conversation going and not letting anything get in our way.
The two of us continued eating our meals and talking for a while, the conversation becoming increasingly relaxed and casual as we continued.
I was starting to feel more at ease around her, now that the initial awkwardness and discomfort had subsided a bit.
{ New skill have been added!}
Suddenly, a purple text box appeared in front of me, with a notification saying "Skill added".
What kind of skill? I had no clue, and I had no idea what to expect from this new discovery.
Should I proceed with unlocking the skill? Or should I ignore it for now?
I was about to click on the text box when Sora spoke up again, breaking the silence of the moment.
"So what do you think about going to an amusement park?" She suddenly asked.
For some reason, a random idea came to mind for where we could go together on another date.
"I think... an amusement park would be pretty fun for a date, since it would give us more opportunity to interact and... you know..."
Sora looked away slightly as she said that last part, but she had definitely caught my attention with her suggestion for another date.
I looked back at her, feeling more surprised by every word she said.
She wanted to go to an amusement park on a date...? Why did she want to go specifically to an amusement park? But more importantly, why did she want to do it with me?
I felt my heart start to race as everything Sora had been saying clicked in my mind, and I began to piece together what she really meant with her invitation.
{ New unique skill have added!}
I didn't have the time to take a look at the new text box because Sora had kept talking by this point.
"Do you like amusement parks? Do you think you could have fun there?"
She was asking me more questions now, and she seemed pretty excited at the idea of going to an amusement park.
"Um, well, I guess... I don't really know what to expect from an amusement park, but I wouldn't mind trying it out."
"Well, we should go! My treat! I'll pay for us both to have a fun day in the amusement park!" Sora said excitedly, a clear sparkle in her eyes and a genuine smile on her face.
For some reason, it felt like it would be fun to go on such a date together, and even if Sora didn't have any romantic intentions, a day out together was sure to be something memorable for me.
I didn't have to hesitate for a moment when she suggested going on a date to the amusement park, as I immediately accepted.
"Yes! I would love to go on a date with you" I replied back quickly, feeling my heart beat faster with excitement and anticipation at the thought of spending the day out with her.
"You sure you don't mind paying for both of us?" I added, just to make sure she was okay with covering the expenses of the amusement park.
"Yeah, it's no problem" Sora replied with a nonchalant attitude, brushing off my concern as if it was nothing.
It was a bit surprising to see her be so relaxed about something that would normally be a big deal for most other girls.
Most girls I knew would demand that I paid for myself if we were going out together in a date-like setting, but Sora just seemed chill with everything.
" so, what about tomorrow after school?"
"Tomorrow after school? Yeah!"
I was getting more and more excited as she confirmed our little date for the next day.
Tomorrow was going to be a pretty big day for me, and I couldn't wait to finally get to spend time with her in a more relaxing and informal setting besides school.
Our conversation was interrupted as the lunch break ended.
I guess Sora had no more time to spend with me now that it was time to go back to class.
Before she stood up to leave, she gave me one last smile.
"See you tomorrow after school!"
Our short conversation came to an end, and Sora stood up to leave.
She gave me one last smile as she said goodbye, a happy looking expression that brought me comfort for tomorrow's upcoming date.
{ New Quest have been added!}
Something kept disrupting my train of thought, and that something was the purple text box that had been appearing in front of me over and over again.
It was kind of odd that it kept popping up so often, making me think that it may be some sort of a notification of some kind.
But what could it mean? I had no clue as I stared at the text box for about 10 seconds before I finally decided to click on it.
Upon clicking the text box, I was surprised to see a quest-like window appear with a new set of objectives.
"Objective 1: Wait until Sora arrives at the amusement park tomorrow."
"Objective 2: Meet up with Sora at the amusement park and have fun together."
I was a bit stunned by these objectives, as they seemed pretty straightforward for a quest to follow on my date with Sora the next day.
"objective 3 : protect your potential party member from any harm"
What does this mean? Sora chan is going to be hurt?
But who would - be willing to harm her?
