Chapter 12 - Arrogant Servant Disciple

The square-faced child hesitated for a moment, looked up at the servant disciple, and asked, "Senior Brother, didn't you say each person would get three bottles of Foundation Pills, totaling thirty pills? I... I only have twenty-seven here."

"What do you mean twenty-seven? I packed all the pills myself, there's no way I made a mistake!" the servant disciple declared confidently.

"But there really are only twenty-seven here, you can count them if you don't believe me!" the square-faced child whispered.

"Count? Can't you see I'm busy? Do you want them or not? If not, hand them over and get lost!" The servant disciple glared, slammed his palm on the table with a bang, and shouted loudly.

The noise made the square-faced child shiver. Looking at the tall servant disciple in front of him, he hesitated for a moment, then lowered his head sullenly without saying another word.

The other children, seeing this, also shrank their necks, their smiles frozen on their faces.

Soon after, another square-faced child received three bottles of pills.

Moving to the side, this child quickly checked his pills. Upon seeing them, his face turned ashen.

But glancing at the servant disciple, the child silently put the pills back into the bottle without a word.

Su Shi'er stood at the back of the crowd, observing everything.

He clearly saw that the square-faced child's bottle contained only twenty-five pills. Among them, two were discarded pills, and the rest were dull-colored low-grade spirit pills.

Su Shi'er frowned slightly but said nothing. However, this behavior reminded him of when people came to the village to collect grain, always mixing good grain with bad and skimping, just like Er Gou's father.

Soon, all six children received their pills.

However, after checking, all six had mournful expressions, heads down, looking like they were angry but didn't dare to speak.

The worst off among them only received twenty Foundation Pills, three of which were discarded pills.

Then it was Zhu Hanwei's turn, second to last.

The servant disciple glanced at Zhu Hanwei's identity token and casually grabbed three bottles of pills.

"Senior Brother, I'm Zhu Hanwei, the son of the mayor of Dragon Return Town. Thank you for your hard work distributing the pills, here's a small token of appreciation." Before the servant disciple could hand over the bottles, Zhu Hanwei swiftly pulled out a silver ingot from his pocket and placed it on the table with a smile.

The silver ingot was the size of a baby's fist, looking quite hefty, weighing a full fifty taels.

Seeing the silver, the servant disciple's eyes gleamed.

Squinting, he skillfully slipped the ingot into his sleeve with a wave of his hand.

As a servant disciple with no hope of cultivation, all he could do was gather some wealth to enjoy a life of luxury when he returned home.

Looking at Zhu Hanwei again, the servant disciple smiled warmly, his attitude suddenly becoming friendly.

"Junior Brother, no need to be so polite. The Peak Lord entrusted me with this important task, and I won't let him down."

"You're quite promising. Keep working hard, and you'll achieve great things in the future."

With a few words of encouragement, the servant disciple pulled out three porcelain bottles from his pocket and handed them to Zhu Hanwei.

"Don't worry, Senior Brother. If I achieve anything, I won't forget you." Zhu Hanwei nodded eagerly.

With that, he took the bottles and quickly checked them aside.

His bottles contained Foundation Pills, two of which were smooth and round, high-grade pills. The rest were bright mid-grade pills, totaling exactly thirty, not one more, not one less.

This scene left the other disciples wide-eyed with envy, their eyes turning red with jealousy.

Su Shi'er glanced over but wasn't envious. The Foundation Pills refined by the mysterious Pill Furnace were all top-grade, far more precious than these.

However, even a small amount is still valuable. These pills were distributed by the sect and belonged to him.

By all rights, he had no reason not to claim them.

Holding his identity token, Su Shi'er also approached the servant disciple.

At this moment, the servant disciple had returned to his impatient demeanor, quickly scanning the identity token. He glanced at Su Shi'er with disdain and muttered under his breath.

"Su Shi'er? The kid taking over Chen Xi's job guarding the Discarded Pill Room?"

"You sure are lucky to survive in a place like that for so long! Here, these are your pills." With a roll of his eyes, he grabbed three bottles from the corner of the table and roughly tossed them to Su Shi'er.

Su Shi'er frowned, feeling a bit displeased, but he wasn't there to cause trouble, so he didn't react.

Taking the bottles, he hesitated for a moment and decided to open them for a look.

What he saw made his anger flare up.

The three bottles contained only fifteen Foundation Pills in total.

And the most infuriating part was that these fifteen pills were all black and foul-smelling.

These weren't spirit pills; they were clearly discarded pills.

In the courtyard, the others were preparing to leave, but upon seeing the pills Su Shi'er received, they all wore schadenfreude smiles.

Initially, they were a bit envious of Zhu Hanwei. But now, seeing someone worse off than them, their discomfort eased considerably.

"Senior Brother, what is the meaning of this?" Su Shi'er stared at the servant disciple, slamming the discarded pills onto the table.

He had the mysterious Pill Furnace and didn't care if they were discarded pills.

But he couldn't swallow this insult.

If there were only one or two discarded pills, missing two or three, he might have let it slide.

But now, half the pills were missing, and the rest were all discarded.

He had the mysterious Pill Furnace now, but what if he didn't? These pills could very well have ended his path to immortality!

"What do you mean? Kid, why are you bringing these discarded pills to me?" the servant disciple snorted, crossing his arms and retorting.

"Aren't these discarded pills the ones you gave me?" Su Shi'er frowned, coldly questioning.

"What do you mean I gave them to you? Kid, are you crazy? This is the Pill Pavilion, not the Discarded Pill Room! Trying to slander me? This isn't a place for you to cause trouble," the servant disciple said with a malicious look, even starting to threaten.

He didn't dare to shortchange other disciples too much, but he didn't care about Su Shi'er, a nobody guarding the Discarded Pill Room.

He just didn't expect Su Shi'er to dare to resist and question him!

And he had just handed these discarded pills to Su Shi'er, now directly denying it.

This maneuver left Su Shi'er stunned.

Wasn't this just being shameless?

"Cause trouble? Since you put it that way, I'll have to take this to the Peak Lord!" Su Shi'er said coldly.

"Take it to the Peak Lord? Do you think the Peak Lord has time for you?" the servant disciple sneered, confident that he had Su Shi'er cornered.

"The Peak Lord may not have time, but I think Senior Sister Xiao Yue might," Su Shi'er replied calmly, not backing down.

He didn't want to waste too much time here; having Xiao Yue handle this was undoubtedly the simplest and most convenient solution.
