Normally, washing floors, and cleaning windows for my school under the title “maid” would be the last thing I’d want to spend a Friday afternoon on. But joining the “Maid Squad” school club would be a one-way ticket to getting to know my crush, Sacho Koniwai.
She’s a girl with long, white hair, two strands of which hang down to her breasts, a pair of blue lovely eyes, and she normally has a smile spread across her face.
I’m Niko Itchasawai, a red-headed scholar at Aikawa High School. And now I finally have a chance to get to know one of the prettiest, most graceful students in the district. Today’s my first day on the job; I couldn’t be more excited as I enter the building to meet the rest of the team.
I look around to see who else is on the Maid Squad. As it seems, there are only a few other members in the club.
One maid has two tufts of wavy, blonde hair, and green eyes. The other girl has two black braids and parted bangs, along with blue eyes, that are notably rounder and darker than Sacho’s.
All the maids are girls, so it must be strange for them to see a boy in the club. I mean, it would be weird for a girl in a frilly dress to suddenly join the male-dominated football team, wouldn’t you think?
“So, what job are you doing?” Sacho asks me, wearing a maid uniform and a smile.
I pause. When I signed up for the club, nobody told me which job I would be assigned. One girl takes out a book from her pocket and looks through it. “Our ‘helper’ spot is open…”
“How come you’re that neat, Kanjo?” another girl asks. “Isn’t a maid supposed to spend more time cleaning than reading?
“Hey, what’s wrong with recording things, Megumi? You’re such a mess. It’s laughable! Ever heard of cleanliness? You should try it sometime!”
I could feel the other girl’s blood boiling. Well, at least I learned their names.
“WELL, YOU-”
Suddenly, Sacho jumps in. “I think that Niko would make an amazing helper!” I’m not sure if she was saying it to be honest, or to break up the fight, or both. Anyway, I spend the rest of the afternoon being a “Helper” basically, I hand them the towel to wash windows or bring them another mop from the janitor’s closet.

It’s so much work that we only finish at 8:00 that evening. But just as I’m leaving the building I realise something—my study books! I forgot them in my desk! Quickly, I run back through the glass doors of the school, and run up the flight of stairs all the way to my classroom. I grab the papers and run back out of the school building. But just as I’m leaving, I notice something.
In the moonlight, I see a girl around my age, accompanied by a ragged old hat and big broom. I can’t believe what I’m seeing—none other than a witch. Suddenly, she spots me, and stumbles back through the air. The witch immediately dives down, losing her balance, and falls off her broom. Then, she hits the ground, and gets up right in front of me.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
Finally, I get a glimpse at who it is—and I can’t believe my eyes. They’re wearing an old hat and with a cleaning broom by her side, sits Sacho Koniwai.
“Er…um…lovely day for a stroll?”

“I’m part of the Undercover Human Association, or UHA” Sacho says. We’re sitting by the creek near Aikawa High.
“In the Magic Realm, we’re in desperate need of food in many districts,” she explains.“And since witches and wizards come from the same blood line as humans, they can consume their food.”
“So your world wants both worlds to come together.”
“Something like that, yes. But since sorcery is considered inferior in the human world, we have to do it undercover.”

As it turns out, in the Magic Realm, Sacho isn’t considered as graceful and beautiful as she is on Earth. She has little to no friends, and she is practically an outcast.
When she found out about the UHA, she realized it was her chance to live in a place that accepts her for who she is. Sure enough, she was.

Suddenly, Sacho wraps her legs and arms around me and whispers something in my ear.
“Wait, say that again?”
Before she answers, she looks both ways before whispering into my ear, “Not a word of this to anyone, okay?”
“Not a word.”
Before leaving, she turns back. “Niko?”
“Yes?”
“Thank you.” Then, she disappears into the moonlight.
I smile to myself. This was going better than I thought.

The next day, the other maids, and I meet up back at the school. We’re getting ready to clean out an old cottage in the woods.
“So, what supplies should we bring? Since it’s an old cottage, it might not hold up well to more modern equipment,” exclaims Kanjo, ecstatic to debate.
Unfortunately for her, Sacho has other plans.
“We should just stick to the old-fashioned equipment, just to be safe.”
After we grab our supplies, we push our way out of the doors of Aikawa High and begin the trek into the woods.
It doesn’t take long for us to start the trek on a nice, calm path; it seems like such a nice spot…
My thoughts are immediately interrupted by Megumi’s sweet, gentle voice.
“Are you enjoying yourself?” she asks, with a hint of hope in her voice. “Normally boys want to join the sports club, or the chess club, or…”
I’m not sure what to say. I’m worried I’ll sound weird if I say that I joined to get to know my crush better. But still, I think it’s proper etiquette to tell a girl the answer to a question.
“I mainly joined the club to get to know some girls better,” I quickly answer.
“Ah…” Megumi seems surprised at my answer.
“To be honest I joined the Maid Squad because I was hoping that some of the other girls could give me dating advice,” Megumi says, whispering in my ear.
Woah! Not in a million years would I expect someone to join a club for love advice! I try to hide my surprised emotion in case it hurts her feelings. Stumbling for words, I struggle to make a sentence.
“Er…well, we have something in common! That’s good, isn’t it?”
Megumi doesn’t answer. She just hangs her head, thinking. Finally, she answers. “You joined the club to get to know Sacho better, didn’t you?” she answers with a smile on her face.
“Wait…Hold on… How did you…??”
“Uh huh uh…” she muses, wagging her finger. ”Yesterday, I saw you looking at her with a dreamy expression on your face.”
“Oh…I’m not good at hiding that am I?” I answer. We share a smile.
Suddenly, Kanjo jumps into our conversation, both figuratively and literally, wearing her usual maid outfit and toothy smile.
“What’re you two doing?” She asks, in her usual upbeat tone.
“Oh, nothing…” Megumi says quickly.
“Just a friendly talk," she says; when Kanjo isn’t looking, Megumi glances at me quickly and shoots me a wink. And all I can help but do is shoot one back.
