Chapter 4: Punitive force to destroy the Goblin city Part 1
Captain Miyuki
Tatsuya had finally left the Kallamore kingdom and was heading to find Miyuki, this journey will become very troublesome for Tatsuya but soon he will be reunited with the only person in the universe he truly cared about.
The Honoka doppelganger twins were busy in the blacksmiths shop hammering away until Devon called them over.
“so what do you think” said the dwarf with pride , he had finished Miyuki’s request.
Nana and Leez looked at each other and agreed it was perfect. They were surprised that the ugly small dwarf had such fashion sense. They were unaware that his tailor friend who sewed together the leather pieces did most of the design, making it look like a slim sexy cat suit. It was black and the mithril gave it a small sine.
All three of them started drooling as they imagined Miyuki wearing it, and walking around town in such a skin tight suit. At that moment Miyuki entered the shop, sighed, she could guess that they were thinking of something perverted because of the twins faces, she had seen this expression on several occasions. Walking towards them she made a cold expression and said “excuse me” the chilly voice knocked them back into reality and quickly handed her the armour

“and I wanted to see her with just the suit on”
“ahhh why god do you torture us”
“*fake crying* the sexy body”
The rooms temperature began to dropp….
You have activated niphilheilm
“were sorry please sto…”
They were about to freeze then Miyuki regained her senses and stopped. It seems even with my psions back I still lose control of my magic sometimes, I need to get stronger thought Miyuki. Even though she is currently ranked amongst the highest level players in the game with stats that would rival a level 300. Things settled down and after a small chat with everyone, Miyuki thanked them for the great equipment and left to go find Hope the merchant.
“that human it scarily strong, ive never met a mage that has such a powerful fighting spirit” Devon said with a devils smile and had secretly decided to support her from now on. He turned back into his private forge and began hammering.
Tatsuya had told Miyuki about a merchant who he sent to the city with some stuff for her. He also said that she is about their age and is very shy for a merchant. She was supposed to arrive yesterday night so today she should be at the city square trading. Looking around Miyuki saw many people buying and selling, shouting for customers but she could tell who Hope was straight away. There was a young girl with a stall up with at least triple the items everyone else had but she was just flustered and standing in the middle accepting money from people buying her items. No one tried to haggle the price down because of her cheap prices, and there was lots of people around her stall. Unlike other merchants she had made all the items data public so everyone knew what they were buying and were happy for the great deal they were making.
Jealous looks form many merchants were attacking her. But all she was doing was accepting the money from the customers, bowing and saying thank you then repeating. Even though she was so shy see wasn’t dumb, a few customers that would try and give her less money or steal would quickly be stopped by a city guard she seemed to have hired for the day. Miyuki watch quietly until all her items were sold and she began to pack up.
“Hello” said miyuki
“ummm hello” a quiet voice that could just about be herd replied
“Im Miyuki, did onii-sama ask you to send me something”
“ah yes” Hope hurriedly started to search through her pocket and got out a letter and a pouch.
“He also said that he should be here within the month because the journey should take that long without a horse”.
Miyuki was happy to hear that and happy to see that the girl doesn’t look like the type that would become attached with Tatsuya, later she will find out how wrong she was. After a while talking in the street it got late and Miyuki invited her to stay together for the night. Miyuki was staying at the same inn she found when she first arrived in this world and it was a room with two beds (one for Tatsuya when he gets here). She accepted and they went to bed. Before they slept Miyuki was so into chatting with Hope she forgot about the items and checked them before going to bed.

A rare item, and Tatsuya had gave him 5000 gold, shocked Miyuki opened the pouch and took out a piece of paper.
Flying type magic circle
Miyuki added the flying type a magic to her automatic skill slot she had open from when she hit advance mana manipulation. The letter that Tatsuya sent just had a general warming about Hopes greediness and that she should spend the money wisely. Miyuki then turned off the oil lamp and fell asleep.
The next morning after meeting up with Nana and leez the four of them saw a massive queue being formed leading to the castle gates. Curious they asked a stranger lining up.
“Excuse me can you tell us what this queue is for?”
“Sure, the King has ordered the destruction of a goblin city that has terrorised small towns in the surrounding area you need to be over level 100 to join but it’s dangerous the goblins are thought to be in the low level 200s.”
As the young man explained they all secretly decided to join up and they entered the queue. Despite her looks hope was a level 170 merchant and she achieved it by running through various battlefields in the kallamore kingdom picking up loot. Because she was so shy and scared she learned a new skill that allows her to only see the terrain and loot when she had her eyes closed and a stealth skill that allows her to be ignored by monsters if there is a bigger threat within 100 meters. This had been a common sight in the monster sieges in the kallamore kingdom a young girl running and screaming through the battlefield picking up japtem, her eyes would be closed and she often bumped into monsters. She had died a couple of times but for a merchant she had gained a large amount of Dex and Vit form doing this alongside with a fighting spirit that ensured she wouldn’t be attacked by monsters while traveling.
The long wait in the queue was boring and when they got to the front a knight wearing full body armour asked for their names level and class.
“Nana level 117 warrior”
“leez level 116 warrior”
“uuumm…Hope level 170 merchant”
“Shiba Miyuki level 216 Mage”
The twins levels were low and he didn’t want to let a merchant join but it would be worth it if a high level mage could join. The amounts of mages over level 150 were very few so he accepted them and moved on.
“We meet up in the fields outside the castle in 4 days at 0500. Don’t be late or we will leave you behind! Next”

Level 100 or more
Royal Knight Liam lets you join

10 silver a day
5 silver per kill

This is one of the first C ranked quests commissioned, Miyuki read the quest carefully and thought if killing 5000 goblins is a c ranked quest how will she be able to deal with an A ranked. This thought was quickly forgotten, Nana and leez headed back to the blacksmiths to get ready. Meanwhile Miyuki and Hope went to a nearby dungeon to train. Hope didn't want to come but if Miyuki was anything like Tatsuya she wanted to see her fight so they went. Miyuki wanted to train with her new armour and sword so they only went to a nearby thief’s dungeon who used swords and daggers and were fast moving.
After 4 days the players commissioned into the punitive force and the army tasked for the subjugation of the goblins were all waiting in the newby grass field outside the city walls. 900 NPC gaurds lvl200-250and 1600 players between level 100-230, But only Miyuki and 10 other players were over level 200. This was a big chance for upcoming guilds to show their force and get new members along with contribution with the kingdom which was difficult to do. There was a royal knight placed in charge of the punitive force because no player had amassed enough reputation to be commissioned such a quest yet.
“Ok listen up people, you have been assigned into a platoon with a captain, you will follow the captains orders to the letter. This is no joke they have over 4500 goblins in an urban environment it will not be easy” the royal night addressed all the soldiers then looked over to the players and said “Assign captains between you and the 16 captains will come to my tent tonight. We have a day’s march and to set up camp”
He smirked then said “I don’t care how you choose the captains but make sure no one dies….ah also if the captain you choose is an idiot you will serve under an idiot no questions asked”
The statement made a big fuss between the players and within the commotion the guilds quickly took control. It looked like the guilds were going to fight with each other until they ill decided to have a small tournament when they get to the camp site. Anyone who wants to join will write their names max of 2 players per guild also any randomer could join. This sounded fair for everyone so no one complained. A lot of players didn’t want to be captains so they didn’t bother with the mess Miyuki’s party included but Hope had different ideas and signed up Miyuki to the tournament.
After a long day of marching they reached a field just 15 miles round a steep cliff from the goblin city. This place was chosen for camp because goblin patrols avoided it. It had a strong smell of flowers. They set up camp and had 5 hours before they captains had to be chosen. Out of the 1600 players there were 80 that wanted to be captains so they were split into 16 groups of 5 and would have an all against all fight between each group. Almost all the players had made a big circle to watch these duels.
It was interesting to see the duels, some were even funny. Miyuki’s party sat around a camp fire and ate while enjoying the atmosphere.
It was the last duel and the self-proclaimed announcer began calling out the contestants….
“Alex the warrior…….Heim the Ranger……Horos the assassin…..Prina the Paladin and lastly Miyuki the Mage”
Miyuki surprised was suddenly pushed in to the field of people by Nana and Leez
“good luck”
“im rooting for you”
“do your best”
The crowds eyes were focused on Miyuki she was beautiful, even though she was wearing a robe you could still make out her fine curves. But they didn't have high hopes all the Mages and priests who signed up got killed quickly because of their weak defences. They all complained saying strength doesn’t mean they have bad leadership but no one paid attention. Miyuki’s mood had turned sour, she is being forced to fight for a position she isn’t interested in.
The moment the fight started both the paladin and the warrior sprinted towards Miyuki thinking it was an easy kill and the ranger and assassin started to fire arrows and crossbow bolts at each other. The paladin tried to chop Miyuki’s feet while the warrior went for her torso, they swung their swords in sync thinking she was as good as dead and were only paying attention to each other. Almost all the mages died like this before they could do anything.
But Miyuki was different she stepped into their attack making their swords swing to far and hitting each other, then used acceleration magic on her fist punching the warrior in the face causing a small sonic boom. The warrior flew across the field knocked out; Miyuki paid no attention to him and twisted her body raising her leg and kicked the paladin away. The paladin was in shock but she quickly regained her senses and raised her shield blocking the kick.
You have been stunned for 4 seconds
Durability of shield has dropped slightly
All stats reduced by 30% for 1 mins
The kick had sent her flying and she was stunned on the floor. The ranger and assassin had quickly switched targets and headed towards Miyuki but were stopped in their tracks as she fired small lasers from her fingertips destroying their armour and weapons from a distance. Now unable to fight they were forced to withdraw from the match. Once phonon masor reached intermediate stage she was able to adjust the length of time the laser was active size of the laser and its power.

By now only the paladin was left, she began casting holy magic to buff herself and slowly moved towards Miyuki. Miyuki kept firing small laser to make her give up but they were all stopped or deflected by her shield. Small sparks flew and Prina was knocked her back a little after every hit. Seeing as she wouldn’t give up Miyuki got into a battle stance with her bone tree staff in her right hand and her sword with a reverse grip on her left hand. At the same time they both dashed into each other. Prina attacked with a shield bash but it was stopped by the staff and a little help from acceleration magic. Miuki swooped underneath her shield and tried to stab her leg but it was parried by Prinas sword.
Miyuki could have finished her off with magic but decided not to because sparring this person would be very good combat training, she activated magical reinforcement instead. After a while, both of them were not able to land a finishing hit Prina was forced to surrender because her health was too low and she was about to die. Even though they were even in close-combat Miyuki had a higher defence and more health than Prina. To become a paladin you needed to be at least level 200 and distribute your stats in Str, Vit, and Faith also a little in wisdom and int for buffs and holy spells. This however could not overcome the differences in stats Miyuki had from her class and equipment. They shook hand smiled and said “good fight”, priests then healed them. Prina and Miyuki agreed to meet up later and became friends, but first she had to meet the royal knight.
The crowd was amazed, never had they seen a mage who was so capable in combat and could force a paladin to their knees by outmatching it in hand to hand combat. Not mentioning she can shoot lasers, I mean there freaking lasers. None of the other mages had seen magic like that and a lot of them were very eager to meet Miyuki. There were also many guild interested in recruiting her after the match she was surrounded by a crowed.
“hey, can you teach me that spell?”
“hello, im a magician…errm how can I fight like you?”
“we are one of the strongest guilds in the kingdom, join us and we can help each other lot”
“don’t make me laugh, join our gild the Lions Pride, only the best and Brightest people in the continent can join. So how about it?”
This situation reminded Miyuki of how it was when she first started high school, as she began to reminisce she became lonely and a sad expression went on her face just for a moment.. This was enough to make the crowd calm down. They did not know the reason but such a cute girl to give such a sad expression, even for a mere moment pained them. The crowd quieted down and Miyuki met up with the others and then headed towards the royal nights tent. She was the last to arrive.
“ok good now that everyone's here let’s begin, Firstly I am Sir Liam a royal night nice to meet you”
The large tent was warm with a long table and a map in the middle, around the table was the 16 player captains along with 9 NPC captains. At the head of the table sat the Royal night and opposite him was Miyuki. All the players slowly introduced themselves beginning with the NPC captains then round to the players. (ok ok I give up I have no naming sense so I'm going to cheat) I am Yoric the leader of the grave diggers guild, Miyuki a mage, Jarven the leader of damancia, swain the leader of noxsus, Bard rey form the herms guild……ect
“The way I see things they have double our numbers and on average they are slightly higher level than us so an all-out war would quickly lead to our defeat. Also the goblins have built walls around their city slowly making it into a fort so we have to act quickly”
“This is the plan, we the kingdoms of heavens army will flank round to the north set up camp outside the goblins scouting parimeter and wait a week, you 16 captins will have your platoons of 100 ambush and take kill as many goblin patrol as you can in this week.”
“But sir goblin patrols are between 100-300 well armed goblins wouldn't that be difficult with only 100 per platoon” He was interrupted by Jarven
“it’s a risk were going to have to take,, you also have to kill the goblin patrols quickly and retreat. Should you encounter a large amount of goblins do not engage, our goal is to use goblins low intelligence and make them concentrate all their forces onto the south. After a week will pass all of your platoons will join forces to lure out all the goblins from the city. Once there out engage them in combat but concentrate on holding the line while retreating. Meanwhile we will attack the north and kill all goblins within the city and then flank them. Once we arrive you will stop the slow retreat and begin a full offence.” Sir Liam explained with a displeased look. As a knight he hated using such cowardly tactics but there are too many goblins and the levels of the punitive force was too low for an all-out war.
Miyuki and the other captains seemed to agree with the plan, it had a good chance of succeeding and they were all excited, this was going to be the first large war in which players would be involved in. Miyuki wasn’t as much excited as she was worried about the platoon she was going to be in charge of. Once they left the tent they all got a notification.

They all went to sleep and the next morning all the captains set up small stalls for people to sign up to join a platoon. The guild members all joined their respective leader’s immediately, Nana Leez, and hope singed up with Miyuki. As it got later into the day all the players had signed up with a Captain. Miyuki’s platoon was the most unbalanced. She had 34 mages (at least 20 more than any other platoon) 12 priests, 1 paladin (with her 5 warrior’s fan club), 1 merchant, 2 blacksmiths, 17 archers, 13 rouges and 25 knights/warriors. The average level of her platoon was also slightly lower than the others about 150 because there are not many high level mages. But because she was the only female captain most of her platoon squad was filled with girls so there was a small amount of jealousy to the males that got in.
The plan would start in two days and Miyuki was worried how she would fair. So she rounded up her platoon a day early and headed to a nearby dungeon in an attempt to train her platoon a bit. The dungeon had mobs about level 140 and was inhabited by a race of monsters called mandrell, they were similar size to goblins but blue and used poison tipped swords so not many people train there without a priest or cleric. The dungeon had wide tunnels and had lots of winding paths but not large enough for the hole platoon to be in formation. So Miyuki set up 4 groups of 25, each group with around 6-7 knight/warriors with 3 rogues as the vanguard, behind them was the 8 mages alongside 4 archers. They were all supported by buffs and heals from for priests at the back. Half the mages were assigned to use large area of effect slow spells and the other would only use target spells to deal high damage only to one target. Rangers would focus arrows only on the front line. All this will be done while the front line troops hold off the mobs by using their shield more than their swords. The rogues scout for any
traps/ monsters and take out any enemies capable of long ranged attacks.
The formation seemed to work well after the first groups progress was satisfactory Miyuki let Prina lead another group in and leez and Nana the other two. The mages cycled between slow spells and target spells so they gained a lot of skill mastery. The rangers also focused on hitting the shoulders and face disabling the monsters with critical hits making them useless against the front lines shield bashes and slices. Also every so often a rogue would dash through the monsters stabbing and slashing, retreating when their health was low. They would target any mages or shamans mid spells or archers. This was possible because none of the spells and arrows were focused onto the centre reducing the chance of friendly fire. Priests also have their hands full because of the constant healing and poison purifications.
Eventually the paths the 4 groups took met up at the boss room, Everyone there had gained over 5-6 levels apart from Miyuki and Prina who were over level 200 so the mobs don’t give much experience. The boss was unexpectedly a large skeleton mage. Staying in formation the 4 groups surrounded the large mage and kept bombarding it, mages and priests held the skeleton in place with a constant barrage of holy and ice spells while the warriors were aiming for the joints. The archers and rouges were taking care of any stray monsters than came from behind.
Everything was going well Miyuki didn’t feel the need to interfere; the mage was constantly harassed and didn’t have time to cast any large spells. But then as the mage was about to die a black fog surrounded it and its bones turned into obsidian black. Its eyes shone yellow and he casted a large poison spell on everyone and a gravity field forcing all the groups to their knees. This gave it enough time to cast a spell.
“All Mandrells who have fallen in battle heed my words and come forth to battle to slaughter my enemies. Undead rise”
Hearing the words that Miyuki could remember from a book she had read about necromancy. But a welcoming window popped up to inform Miyuki of some vital information as the situation seemed to be at its worse.
Triing
Bone tree staffs unrivaled power over bones affects the activated necromancy spell.
All undead are weakened by 30%
Once killed the undead cannot be re-summoned
As the undead began to rise, the gravitation spell was lifted and Miyuki quickly took control of the situation, there was still a chance they could win. The boss had low health and the undead couldn’t be re-summoned, but her platoon was weakened by the long dungeon hunt and was slowly losing health to the poison.
“get out of the boss room now!” Miyuki shouted as she activated the flight magic that Tatsuya gave her, and then she used convergence type magic to collect most of the poison away from the platoon; she followed up by freezing the poison gas into an ice ball.
Meanwhile the platoon had retreated to the entrance of the boss room and the priests were busy curing all the poison. Miyuki was the first to be purified. The skeleton mage was around 4 meters tall and lifted up its staff and began chanting more spells. Miyuki able to see the flow of mana could see that it was a target spell and the target was her. She was about to activate Nephilim to kill everything but suddenly the skeleton kings spell failed, Prina had casted holy bolt on it. She and her fan club joined and the reaming warriors with a decent amount
of health charged into the undead.
Seeing this the other platoon members joined in after they were cured. They all seemed to have kept the formation up. Because of Miyuki’s
tactics to concentrate on the front lines the undeads numbers were quickly lowered and they were advancing towards the boss. Happy to see their progress Miyuki saw a massive amount of mana building up around the skeleton mage again.
“not going to let you do that!” she said as she flew around dodging arrows, she went behind the skeleton mage and fired 16 small phonon
masons at its spine. The skeleton mage arched forward now with its spine in pieces cancelling the spell. She didn’t stop there Miyuki jumped off the ceiling while cancelling flight magic. She accelerated herself downwards piercing the skeleton mages skull with both her bone staff and sword. The platoon members had finished off the remaining undead and were relieved to see the message
You have cleared the Mandrell hideout
+100 fame
You have defeated the Giant skeleton Mage
+40 fame
You have levelled up
You have levelled up
Miyuki had levelled up twice for finishing off the boss monster.
As they were about to rest a bright light filled the whole dungeon. All the bones from the fight faded into small light particles and flew into
Miyuki’s staff.
Bone tree staff has absorbed Giant skeleton mages bones
Bone tree staff has absorbed a lot of Mendrall bones
Bone tree staff has absorbed undead bones
+4 to all stats
+10 intelagince
+10 wisdom
+5 strenth
+5 defence
+20% poison resist
+5% dark magic resist
Everyone was captivated by Miyuki’s amazing combat ability while fighting the boss and in the tournament but also the beautiful light than now was covering the dungeon instead of ugly bones this revitalised everyone’s spirit. She explained to her platoon that her staff absorbed bones to get stronger and they all accepted it but on the journey back to the camp all of the wizards were questioning her about the flight spell. Miyuki tried to teach them but they all had magic mastery not mana manipulation mastery so she couldn’t help them much but several
of the wizards learned a basic wind magic by accident from continually trying to activate flight magic.
As they reached the camp everyone either fell asleep instantly or logged off, they were all at least 15 levels higher (Nana and Leez had reached 150 gaining over 30 levels) and slightly richer because all the loot was sold directly to Hope. Hope and Miyuki made a deal, Miyuki would hold all the loot in her pouch and Hope would give her 10% once all the loot had been sold. Miyuki was willing to do it for free but Hope insisted. She was scared of what Tatsuya would do if she would take advantage of his little sister.
