(AN: To get more in-depth with Jacob’s ability/magic, it's like a type of dimensional magic that you see. His ability consists of controlling all three dimensions of space. Shit like vectors, portals, erasing space, and etc. I know its kinda complicated because that is also the reason why Jacob hasn’t even unlocked his first spell ;))
“Why does Jacob try so hard?” The little girl asked.
The man rubbed his chin. “Well, Natylee was a good friend of his that he developed feelings for. You probably wouldn’t understand why.”
“Did Jacob go to the academy?”
“Well, of course, he did. Everybody goes to the academy at some point.”

Of course, Jacob was on his way to the academy. He lived in Staten Island and had to take the bus all the way to Manhattan. ‘I wish I had a car dammit!’ Jacob thought as he walked onto the bus. He walked towards the back of the bus and swiped a seat. Jacob looked outside the window as the bus began to take its tour throughout the bustling city. Jacob watched as the small buildings in Staten Island turned in the vast ocean that separated Manhattan and Staten Island. The ocean then turned into the high-rise cityscape that was Manhattan. ‘This sight never gets old,’ Jacob thought to himself.
After a while, the bus eventually stopped at the place Jacob needed to go to, the academy. The academy was a big building, mostly because it was an academy. Jacob walked up to the gate. This is where the student IDs were scanned and checked. Jacob walked up to the gate and scanned his ID, allowing himself to enter the school grounds.

The first class of every day was homeroom. Jacob was excited to see who his homeroom teacher was, practically shaking in excitement. Jacob entered the school through the huge double doors in the front of the school; he walked down the white marble laced hallways towards the room he had been assigned for homeroom.
Jacob opened the door and saw many familiar faces. After all, the same students always stayed together throughout the years. Jacob saw his friend Collin and sat down next to him.
“What did you do over the summer, Jacob?” Collin asked Jacob as he sat down.
“I’m still working on my spell,” Jacob responded.
“Ya know,” Collin said, “You should just try something else if you keep failing”
“Yes, Collin, I know. That’s why I signed up for gunslinging.”
“‘Kay man, you didn’t have to get all antsy on me.”
The bell signifying the start of class rang; the students immediately sat down and got quiet. The door to the classroom opened and a man walked into the room. He was wearing a black two-piece suit with a black button-down and a white tie. He was also wearing a black fedora with a white ribbon lacing it just above the brim. The man took off the fedora revealing his slicked back, long black hair. “Alright, class!!” The man yelled. It was less of a yell and more of a bellow due to the fact he had a deep voice. “My name is Logan Gardener, and I am your homeroom teacher.”

As Mr. Gardener sat down, Jacob caught a glimpse of a gun from inside his coat, hanging around his belt. It was a .44 automag handgun.
“As your homeroom teacher,” Mr. Gardener said as he leaned back in his chair, “I need to basically orientate you for your sophomore year at this academy.”
Jacob noticed that Mr. Gardener didn’t seem that interested in being a teacher, almost like he had another thing he needed to do. The rest of the class was Mr. Gardener talking about what to expect this school year with our classes and how to prepare. The conversation ended with the ring of the school bell and all of the students got up to their next class. For Jacob, it was gunslinging.

Jacob walked through the hall of the school once again to his second and final class of the day, gunslinging. To Jacob, gunslinging wasn’t just a skill, it was an art. Jacob had watched old pre-war westerns growing up and fell in love. Something about the way the gunfights looked made Jacob want to be that cool.
Jacob practically skipped to his next class, opening the door with a smile on his face, but the smile faded away. It was HER. Natylee. She was sitting in the corner of the room, surrounded by her “friends”. Jacob nearly exploded but kept his cool. He stole a seat in the middle left of the room, towards the window, and watched as the other students flooded into the class. Then, the teacher arrived; it was Mr. Gardener. Gardener stood next to the chair and grabbed his handgun from his hip, placing it on his desk. “A .44 Automag handgun. I’m sure you guys never even knew what this was.” All of the students looked in amazement at the large handgun. “The .44 Automag is a handgun that fires .44 AMP, a bullet closely resembling .44 Magnum.” The student all looked at the gun in awe. “But we won’t be shooting it today, we will be using A Colt Delta Elite. It’s a single-action Semi-Automatic handgun. To the range!” Mr. Gardener led the students out of the class to the gun range that was reserved for gunslingers. The students spent the rest of the class shooting guns and getting used to them.
Jacob went to the two other classes he had that day, Enchanting and Gunsmithing. They were required for gunslingers because making your own bullets was very important. Imbuing them with magic was also a necessity.
Jacob only had those four classes a week, so he had the entire week to figure out how to do everything. He took the bus to Staten Island, where he lived, and walked home. It was going to be the same cycle every week. Go to school and apply whatever he learned into his arsenal. Jacob thought about joining a guild so that he could hunt monsters and work with his own magic but didn’t want to take the time away from his own research and magic.

Jacob arrived at his home and opened the front door to the smell of his mother’s cooking.
“Hey, Mom!” Jacob yelled as he set down his bags.
“Hey, honey! How was school?”
“It was alright.”
“Just alright?” Jacob’s mom asked.
“Yeah, I was learning a few new things. It was a good learning experience.”
“Well, that’s good!”
Jacob walked into the kitchen, “What's for dinner Mom?”
“I’m making my alfredo.”
“Sounds good Mom.” Jacob walked to his room and sat at his desk. He grabbed a notebook from under the desk and opened it. It was a notebook to keep all of his ideas about his new magic. The whole idea of this magic was to take control of the physical attributes of an object. This included: controlling vectors, ripping holes in space, and anything that had to do with force and physics. His motivation for this was to impress Natylee; Jacob thought that it might not work but wanted to try anyway.
“Jacob, dinner is ready!” Jacob’s mom yelled from the kitchen. Jacob walked out of his room and went to eat his mom’s alfredo.

After Jacob ate dinner, he took his nightly walk. He does this every night so that he could clear his mind. In the midst of his walk, Jacob heard a strange sound coming from an alleyway. He walked towards the sound and his eyes widened. He saw a man pointing a gun at another. A loud bang rang throughout the alley as the man with the gunshot the other man. the man turned around, revealing who it was. It was Mr. Gardener, and He noticed Jacob at the entrance of the alley.
(AN: The reason it’s “Mr. Gardener” and not “Logan” is that the man on the bench, the one telling the story, recognizes him as Mr. Gardener.)
