23. Druids Wrath

23. Druids Wrath

The set up of the camp was the same as before. The Elites were slightly more packed in at the moment compared to what I faced in the past.

That wouldn't be an issue now that I had a team with me. One that was far more competent than I had been expecting for my first run.

Of course, now that came with the fact that they would use me to get past the eighth floor. I felt it was a worthy trade. As long as we slowed down the run quite a bit by the time we got to the sixth floor and below, we would be just fine.

The creatures were much weaker to physical attacks. They were quite impressive, so I would be taking even more of a backseat beyond the fifth floor. It simply wouldn't be necessary for many of the enemies.

For now, I could prove my worth by taking on the Shaman.

The plan was simple, I would engage with the Shaman and not allow it to use any of its tribal spells to increase the Brutes' ability. From that point on, the Silver bees would be working. As usual, they would be able to rip through the Elites. The Brutes would only be a little more complicated.

I was to lead the attack.

With a nod from Leader, I began.

Instead of targeting the Elites and taking them out of the fight immediately. I charged forward, catching the attention of all the enemies in the camp, sending out some weak bolts to knock them back slightly, catching them by surprise. I then engaged with the Shaman, who in that time had already prepared its ultimate move.

The last time I had faced the Shaman, it had been more interested in giving strength to the Brutes allowing me to strike it down with relative ease. However, this time, it decided to break out the spell that made having a mage on your team on these levels convenient.

With a roar from behind me, the others from the team engaged with the less magically inclined beasts. The Shaman, meanwhile, had sent out a bolt of his own. A ball of shining green and black light struck me.

I wasn't too worried. While near-lethal for any person without magic, the ability was basically useless to someone with even a little bit of magical power. The spell's sole purpose was paralysis, which made facing this boss a near-death sentence for anyone without any magical ability who decided to take on the boss alone.

I shrugged off the bolt with ease as I returned a salvo of my own, each bolt ripping through the body of the Shaman, falling back it tried to raise its staff once again. It had no other documented abilities, so I wasn't too scared of what he might do.

Not that it would have the chance to do anything in the first place as another few bolts ripped through its head, returning the caster to the firmament. Now I would see how the others had been faring in their fights. Of course, I had kept awareness of my surroundings so that none of the other beasts had the chance to attack me while I was distracted.

I hadn't been keeping aware of how the fight had been going for the Silver Bee members. I trusted in their competence.

I was soon proven right as I turned to all but one Brute left alive. They had dealt with the rest of the group with incredible efficiency. The other Brute soon followed to the grave. Without the boost from the Shaman, they stood no chance in front of the group.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

With that, the small chest began to rise from the ground. This time, the boss's loot was a little better than what I had received for whatever reason.

Near double the coins I had received on my solo run along with a wooden sword similar to the ones the Satyrs wielded.

"Everyone ready to take on the next level?"

With a nod from the group, we continued down. I was excited this would be the first time I would be adventuring down to the fifth floor.

"Since it is apparently both of your first times on this floor, I will run you through what to expect."

Leader had decided to remind us of what we should both have already known.

"As we know, the makeup of the next floor will be completely different for one we will be facing two bosses. Neither of which I believe we have to worry about with a Mage on our team. We shall proceed quickly and quietly, but we must take out every patrol before attempting the boss. Doing anything else would spell our death."

She then glared at both Yerin and I until we nodded.

"Now remember the Satyrs are a lot smarter on this level now that they have a Shaman backing them up, so proceed with caution."

With the lecture done, she decided it was good enough for us to head down.

The fifth floor looked exactly like the drawings, instead of the past few floors' winding caves.

This floor appeared as a small village of Satyrs within a forest. The forest path would be where we meet most of the patrols, the ones to worry about were those closer to the village as they could alert the boss at any time if we weren't quiet.

There was also the matter of the new enemies we would face in the forest. There were two routes possible at the start of the floor. One lead to the woods around the Chieftains Camp, the other led to the Druids Grove. Both of which we would be fighting.

It was a surprise that the first floor with two bosses was so early on. It was also something that wouldn't be repeated often, and it would more likely than not be random. The next one wouldn't be until the eighteenth floor.

It was through the Chieftains layer the stairs to the sixth floor. Still, dungeon etiquette was that you took on the Druids Grove first for many reasons but mainly that completing the Chieftains Camp took longer than most other bosses.

It was only a safe fight at our level when we had taken out all the patrols. Thus we had to make sure the team in front of you could finish without you causing any issues.

We went down to the left towards the lone Satyr waiting for us a few minutes walk away. An old goat, the fur had long since gone gray, a long beard draped down to its hooves, the Druid sat on one of the large roots coming off the trunk of the tree. Naked apart from its staff that was loosely clutched in its hands.

He climbed to his hooves as we came into the clearing.

Without a word, a root shot out from the ground towards Striker, who had led the charge. She dodged the first easily. The second struck her in the chest, sending her stumbling back. It failed to do any damage, which surprised me; it looked like the silver bees armor was a lot higher quality than I had assumed. I wouldn't be able to walk away from the root so easily if I was hit.

That was when Scout decided to move. He had somehow managed to get right beside the Druid, leaping forward to cut out its throat. The Druid managed to dodge at the last second, moving faster than seemed possible with its old frame.

A green sheen surrounding the beast as he used the power of nature to increase his strength. Natures wrath. Signifying the change to the second phase. He changed from his first phase quickly.

The only magical ability he would use now would be to heal himself every minute or so. Now we would just have to whittle down the health of the nature goat that was now assaulting us.

My mana bolts struck the old goat surprisingly hard. Its nature's wrath ability significantly increased all his physical skills and resistances at the expense of his magical powers. Making him a ripe target for my assault. His health was truly titanic in this mode, and he was more than capable of sending any of the combatants flying.

Yerin surprised once again as he was more than capable of taking on the goat blow for blow. His strength was far higher than he had let on. The goat could only attack him in vain, which allowed all three of the Silver Bees to rip into him from the side.

It was a slash from Yerin that had taken him out in the end.

With his death, the forest around us let out a mourning cry. Even knowing it would happen didn't take away from the drama of the moment.

From the tree rose a chest. I wonder what we would receive.
