Exploring the Forest for the first time

Exploring the Forest for the first time

After leaving the Guildhall I was hit with a cold breeze. It is still cold outside but I think I can manage as long as I get enough money to stay at a cheap inn. I start walking towards the town gate to the east. There are four town gates on in each cardinal direction. The east gate is on the smaller side because there are less adventurers exploring in that region I’m hoping for more herbs closer to the town hoping that no monsters come out of the forest. I was fast approaching the gate because of how few people were on the way to the eastern gate. The forest to the east was way denser and more dangerous then the northern and southern part. To the west of town were plains for days were only slimes and goblins spawned therefore it was easy hunting grounds for newbie adventurers but the forest to the east is way more dangerous with lots of different monsters and so I found myself standing before the east gate there was a small line of stronger adventurers but they all quickly passed by leaving into the depths of that forest. I stepped before the rather small gate and for the first time in my life I would take a step out of the secure town that was my home for the entire time of my life so far. I showed my adventurers card to the guards and they let me go through without asking any questions though the looks they gave me were pitiful as if I was about to die.

I started to walk towards the forest. While entering it felt like I was about to step into a lions den. There was no path into the forest so I just started searching for medical herbs close to the town. But the edge of the forest where I was hoping to find some didn’t have any herbs only grass and large crooked trees. I searched and found nothing in the end but I can’t give up so I started walking again. I decided I would search a hundred steps deep and so I walked into the forest.

The deeper I got the less light came down through the leaves of the large trees. When I looked west I could barely see the light of the grassy plain between the forest and the city. As soon as I was done counting my steps I started looking around. I could barely see more than thirty steps ahead. I looked around for the red leaves of the medicinal herbs. I go in a half circle around the town always looking out to the edge of the forest so that I don’t lose my way.

Finally amid the trees and the dark green plants I see large red leaves on the forest floor. I try to rip them out right above the roots but they won’t budge. I tried a little higher but they just didn’t get out. At last I gave up they won’t budge this way no matter how hard I try.

I sat down and contemplated my situation I was for better or worse stuck in this forest until I find a way to get these leaves. Then an idea came to my mind I will find a sharp stone to cut these leaves of so I started searching around the area and after a good thirty minutes I found a stone that I thought might do the trick it was white and kind of smooth. It was round and clean on one side and had a sharp edge on the other side it was as large as my hand and fit nicely in the palm of my hand.

I used the sharp side of the stone to cut the leaves of at the stem. It wasn’t exactly butter smooth but the stone was sharp enough that it went fairly easily and I had already collected about nineteenth leaves but as I was about to pick up the twentieth leaf I finally heard what I was afraid of a monster must have sensed me in its territory I quickly put the stone and the last leaf into my already full pouch and started running.

As soon as I looked behind me I saw huge boar known as an Alberkeiler it was huge at least three times as high as me and it had huge horns on his forehead.

I began to run in a zigzag pattern to avoid it rushing me down and spearing me up. Continually I ran towards the exit of the forest avoiding to many straight paths. After about two-hundred steps it finally stopped chasing me but I still ran all the way until I was out of the forest.

There I got onto my knees panting for breath. At last I made it out the I raised my hands in jubilation.

After a few more minutes I wade my way towards the city. The guards asked for id again so I showed my card and they let me through. I made my way towards the adventurers guild. I pushed the doors open and went inside.
