Chapter 6: Trouble In The Forest 2

Chapter 6: Trouble In The Forest 2

Authors Note: I had hard time writing this chapter. I was originally planning to write in 3rd point of view but was unable to due to my lack of knowledge. Hopefully, the 1st point of view I wrote in compensates for it. If there are any mistakes, and inconsistencies please let me know!

Not sure how much time have passed, but I have not stopped yet. I kept on going. Stopping here would surely mean death. However, my chance of survival is already low. I felt dizzy, nauseous and cold. I’m almost at my limit and about to collapse any second now.

I stopped walking to take a breather and recollect my thoughts. Currently, I know they are following me from the sides. The forest did not any insects that cried out at night times. Basically the forest was dead silent and you can only hear two things. My breathing, and small walking sounds that is combined with mine. I am being followed by the creatures. Do I just stop and fight them? Or Do I keep walking forward until I can’t stop. My body is screaming in pain and it’s letting me know I don’t have much time before I collapse. So, I have decided. I will fight here rather than walking further.

I took out the phone again and flashed it around. There it was. You can see the bright yellow eyes reflecting the light that I was flashing it on. Growling. There was something different this time though. You can hear multiple growls. I looked around the creature and this time there wasn’t only one rather there was three. There was the one that got injured from the bullet I shot and two others that came with the injured one. Seems like they are here to secure the kill. But, I have no intention of going down that easily. I took my handgun out and tried to aim at it. I was still feeling dizzy so I wasn’t too sure if it was going to hit. As I was about to pull my trigger, the two that weren’t injured jumped straight at me, well, aren’t you impatient? I shot the gun twice, and then rolled to the side with my remaining strength to avoid being clawed.

Bang! Bang!

You can hear the sound of the gun and the scream of the creature echo throughout the forest. You can see the one that got shot fall in the air to the ground. I’m wasn’t sure if it was dead or not. It was too dark for me to know its condition so tried to walk up to it quickly to confirm.

While I was paying attention to the one I shot, the third one attacked me from my blind side and gave a deep cut on my right arm with its sharp claws.

“Fuck!”

The pain that I received from the attack made me drop my gun and lose balance. This made me fall backwards. As I fell, the one that was waiting from the side after its initial attack failed, quickly jumped at me without any hesitation. I couldn’t get up in time. My body was at its limit and I had no strength to get up.

Ah… It’s all over for me now, huh… Is what I thought until I saw a huge fireball blast away the creature that jumped to attack me.

(Fireball!)(???)

(Hey, Are you alright?)(???)

In the forest you can see a group of three adventurers hunting down the demon wolves. There was a group of demon wolves that tried to fight back desperately but they were all easily killed. One by one, the group of demon wolves that fought back were annihilated.

“Sir, I have finished subjugating the demon wolves that were in this area but few managed to get away. Should I go after them?” (Jude)

“No, the sun is going to set soon. It will be dangerous to chase them during night time because there might be some other monsters out there. Instead, why don’t you go start making a campfire and set up the tent? We can pursue the rest tomorrow.” (Aaron)

“Roger that~” (Jude)

“Alright, I’m going to go look around the area to see if there are any more monsters left. While I do that, Sera, Could you set up a barrier around this area? (Aaron)

“Sure! Leave it to me!” (Sera)

I left them with tasks and headed into the forest to check the surroundings. This was to prevent ourselves from getting attacked by a group of monsters during night time. Even though we have Sera’s barrier, one can never be too lax. The wolves that were able to escape might come back to attack us in a bigger group. Of course, this is only possible if there are more of them left in this part of the forest. The subjugation request have mentioned that there are thirty of them but like I said one must never be too careless.

Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

I checked the area and the surroundings thoroughly. There were no monsters left, so I decided to head back to the camp. While I was on my way, I heard a loud noise from the direction where we were planning to rest at.

Pi-yoong

What the heck was that sound? Why did it come from the direction we were planning to rest at? Are the guys okay? With worries springing up in my mind I quickly headed to the rest site.

“Jude! Sera!” (Aaron)

“Sir?” (Jude, Sera)

“Are you guys okay? What was that noise?” (Aaron)

“I’m fine sir, but I don’t know what the noise is about. I’ve never heard anything like it.” (Jude)

“I don’t know anything about it either… But it did come from the north side direction. Should we go check up on it?” (Sera)

When Sera asked me if we should check up on it, I wasn’t too sure. I’ve never heard of this unique sound and wasn’t sure what the cause of it was from. Was it a new monster? Was the sound from a new spell? It is likely that it was a spell but why was it used in middle of the forest? Monsters?

That’s when it clicked to me that the chance of it being spell was higher than a monster. The probability of the monsters that we were not able to subjugate attacking was higher than a high ranked monster roaming in this forest.

“Yeah, let’s check up on it. The noise might be from an adventurer fighting group of monsters by himself. Leave your belongings here and grab your weapons, and a torch only. It’s going to be a hassle to carry these with us, and it’s going to be a burden to us if we do engage in a fight.” (Aaron)

Jude and Sera followed my instructions and quickly got ready. then we headed toward the direction that the noise echoed from.

Because the sun had set, it got really dark inside the forest. For a quick moment we lost our sense of direction but we heard the sound once again.

Pi-yoon

This time it was louder than before. I can tell that we were lot closer than before. I ran in hurry leaving Jude and Sera behind.

………………………

When we arrived at the source of the sound, we saw something that we did not expect. A boy who was on the floor and was surrounded by 3 demon wolves. The boy tried his best to stand up but he was unable to. He seemed to be injured quiet badly. I can see from here that his left arm was torn apart by the wolves. It seems like he lost lot of blood from the wound. He was barely alive at this point. As Jude and Sera caught up to me, one of the wolf attacked the boy who was defenseless. So then I have chanted my magic at the demon wolf to save him.

“Fireball!” (Aaron)

A huge fireball was created front of me and was launched at the demon wolf. The fire engulfed it and soon, reduced it to ashes.

“Jude! Sera! Quick go help the boy!” (Aaron)

Upon my instruction Jude and Sera quickly ran toward the boy.

“Hey, are you alright?”(Sera)

Sera used her healing skill to treat the boy’s wounds and Jude quickly cut downed the 2nd demon wolf that was near him. The third one tried to run away quickly as possible, but Sera have noticed it.

“Not so fast! Wind Cutter!” (Sera)

A quick, strong bursts of wind was shot from Sera’s hand. The wind cutter that was fired hit the demon wolf and cut its body into two pieces.

Thank god these guys are capable. Now, I wonder what this boy was doing in the forest this late by himself. We took him and his belongings that was dropped on the floor and took him to our campfire.
