You know, during the years where depression was controlling me (or at least it felt like it) I've come to realize something:
We look up to the people that thrive.
At least in my case, for a while suicide seemed the only way to escape, the only way to make the pain stop. There were a couple of close calls and someone close to me ended their life, but now being in a stable and much happier place, I realized I never looked to the people who committed suicide. I looked to those who went through hell and back and survived, who lived to tell the tale.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
Life sucks and we all fall down, but that's not the important part. The important part is that they got back up and kept going. I think this is why people (or at least myself) look up to the ones that succeed, it gives us courage to keep going and a hope that we'll be alright. And we will. We just have to get back up and keep walking.
You've got this. If you're in a rough patch, know that even if you feel utterly alone, I believe in you. You're strong enough, the only person who doesn't know that is you.
