Love at First Theft
12. Steal the Silence

12. Steal the Silence

When we emerged from our ingenious hiding spot that was the broom closet next to true security room, we saw that Mei and Ash were being taken by police along with Rhett and Nick, though the guys were the only ones in handcuffs, on the screens. Because of that, they should be fine. Aaron was the one that suggested that we should leave ASAP, and so we did, but through the back door so less people noticed us. Though I did wipe the footage of tonight so they can't trace anything that happened back to us.

All of us silently went through the emergency exit and sprinted towards our car, which was thankfully a bit of a ways from the building due to the sheer amount of people that came. If it weren't for that, we'd probably be seen by the police in the parking lot and be taken as witnesses. We all hopped into the car and Max asked what we should do next.

"How 'bout you come to our abode and wait for them to call or something?" Blake suggested.

"Fine, we should probably stick together in case something happens," Aaron agreed. With that, we drove off to the RV park where it was situated.

Once we entered, Blake made a little "Mi casa es su casa" speech and anyone could tell that they were surprised.

"It's so... small," remarked Max. "Couldn't you afford, um, a house?"

"Easily, but we already have this and we've been here for what seems like forever,"  Blake replied while sitting onto the couch. "And this is more humble."

As Max and Aaron wondered around the limited space, Aaron commented on the safe in the wall.

"Is this where you keep your stolen stuff?"

"Yeah. People steal banks all the time, but how often have you heard of an RV being broken into?" Explained Blake.

"Ah."

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

We sat in with an awkward atmosphere surrounding us for about a half hour and everyone was doing their own thing on their phone. As soon as Max's ringer broke the silence, we all hopped to where she was.

"Hello?" We could hear a voice at the other end becasue she put it on speaker.

Ash.

"Oh my God. Are you guys okay?" Max  yelled with a worried tone that only a mother figure would have.

"Yeah, we're fine. You probably heard about the stealing at the museum that we were at, but don't worry, we're fine. We're at the police station for being witnesses, so we'll be back soon, ok?" She was acting as if we weren't there, probably so if the police call is being listened into, they'll think that we're family or something that wasn't with them.

"Thank God..." Max responded. "We're not home, so call us when you leave and we'll tell you."

"Okay. Bye!" She then hung up.

We were back to being in awkward silence for about five minutes. Aaron started to play with the safe in the wall and that's when I asked, "Could you not?" When I realized how I sounded, I hastily added, "Please?"

Aaron stepped back, realizing how defensive I was about our stuff.

"You know what? This is killing me," Blake closed his laptop. "Can we please talk? Why it have to be this awkward?"

"I have no idea," Max sat down next to Blake on the couch. Blake started to blush, probably due to the proximity of him to a girl.

"Why don't we get to know each other a bit more?" Blake said, "Um, I'm a Level 128 warlock in Guild of Gods, I like to eat pancakes, I'm single-"

"Blake, you're rambling," I told him.

 "Oh, sorry."

Aaron's face lit up, "You play Guild of Gods?" He went to go sit with him and they went on talking in nerd lingo that I couldn't understand.

"So, what do you like to do?" Max asked as she crossed the RV to where I was.

"Um, I like to draw, I guess. I work part time at that chicken joint near the mall... now I'm rambling. What about you?"

"Nothing much. The crowd that I hang out with consists of these guys and people that are probably being illegal for half of the time that they're awake. They usually have good info on whatever the black market wants, which allows us to steal stuff to sell to them," Max told me, and then she lowered her voice. "And can you tell Blake that if he wants somebody, he did make a point of being single, don't even bother with me. I have already have a girlfriend."
