Chapter 10

I walked for what seemed like hours of suffering as time went by, my body regained a little energy, I had almost lost consciousness and the lack of energy had inhibited all sensation, but once I passed I regained my senses, but one clear thing pierced my brain: pain.

I felt like my nerves had been through a shredder several times, raw and bloody, which prevented me from concentrating. I had never tasted the circulation of energy in motion, fearing that this would happen.

But it was not time to recover, I had to get to the grandma I took several deep breaths, trying to focus, but I found it difficult as more and more random bursts of pain echoed in my head.

Drawing on my previous life training, I took slow, deep breaths while doing my best to ignore the jolts of agony echoing in my skull.

To the rendezvous point. A faint sound caused my gaze to shift to the right. I could have sworn I saw something at the very edge of my vision, but when I focused on it, there was nothing.

I quickly shook my head to clear my thoughts before they began to fill with nightmare scenarios later and resumed my slow, methodical march. When I arrived I saw Grandma on the ground with Dalos at her side clutching our luggage while she had some injuries. It wasn't hard to figure out what had happened.

I would deal with them later, I would help anyone I could but I would make anyone who screwed me pay. But now was not the time.

I arrived next to my grandma and I saw her still unconscious, she had lost a lot of blood and I didn't think she would wake up soon.

I approached Dalos, while I picked up the suitcase with the medicines. His condition seemed to be fine apart from some bruises and pains that he would have the next day. I took out everything I needed to treat the grandma and after an arduous process, I was able to remove the arrow in her stomach.

It was a piece of rusty metal that could hardly be called an arrow. Still, it would be dangerous if it caused infection to the wound, so I had to take more time disinfecting and applying natural antibiotics that Grandma prepared. The biggest risk had passed, the only remaining problem was that I needed to replenish it. But feeding an unconscious person is a problem that I now have no means to solve. I could only hope that it wouldn't last for days like this.

....

“come on kid, you should calm down, let's discuss this calmly, you are not a murderer” Lorda came out from among the group as someone who was always known for her interactions and strong character, but she was always good at talking.

It hadn't taken me long to find the others, they were still a few miles away from the general location, I wasn't here just for revenge, I used to be patient however, they had taken most of our supplies and most importantly our map.

I shook my head to calm my impulses. “Oh, I'm more than willing to do it, but I'll still take it easy,” I replied.

Lark with an annoyed face and a branch in his hands stood in front of the bags “What, what are you doing running away from a brat, Let's teach this brat some manners”.

“Stupid bastards” Those were my only words, but not of annoyance, this time I felt very grateful, they had given a reason.

My body pushed forward with what little energy I had, channeling what little energy I had left all over my body. I slid between Lark's legs as I hit his knee and moved to stand behind him, one blow to his back and he was the first to fall. I adopted a combat stance waiting for what the other two would do, though I hoped they wouldn't coordinate.

I rushed forward, hoping to catch one of them off guard. However, before I had barely taken two steps, I saw movement and a blow pushed me to the ground.

With a grunt, I raised my head as voices swirled around me. I blinked several times as I stared at the surface of whatever it was I was lying on as my vision struggled to function. I tried to focus on something, but my head hurt. Through the pain, I remembered I was in a fight.

My blood boiled as I forced myself to my knees, and as I braced my hands on the ground to propel myself upward. Slowly, fighting the inner rage that wanted me to move forward, the energy built up in my body and irresistibly I felt it coursing wildly through it. I listened for the sounds the men made as they began to advance towards me.

There was little they could do against the wave that formed from my body, like an explosion that propelled us all forward. The pain was almost wrenching, I felt my canals shattering and my head about to explode.

Once the pain subsided, I removed my hands from my head, although when I put them back down, my fingers brushed against something on my chest. When I stood up, I knew what I had to do, this was not a children's fight, these were not stupid kids who were not responsible for their thoughts. These were adults who had decided to betray and had to pay a price for it.

“Dirhaël they are also guilty of what happened to the old woman, none of them offered to help her, they didn't even turn to look at her when they left her behind. They are as guilty as I am, please friend forgive me.”

Ignoring his pleas I crushed his knee. I kept my foot on it as I listened to her screams and whimpers.

“aghhhhhhhhh!!!!” Tears were Lark's only reaction.

“Cheer up everyone, I was able to save my grandma, you won't die today because of it” I said to the others as I relieved some of my annoyance with them.

The Sheep were sometimes as guilty as the shepherd himself, but I didn't want blood on my hands, human lives would be precious to me.

I picked up a portion of what I needed and the map, as I passed through the others, I was done with these people, they would make it with the others to the valley if they could manage to get more food on the way.

“Hey, where are you going, it's not a good idea to separate us” shouted Lorda while ‘Please, we're sorry for what happened, it wasn't our intention’.

“shut up, have some dignity” Her husband was the one who got tired of looking at his wife and grabbed her arm preventing her arm from grabbing me.

“dignity what are you talking about, without him, we could die, we should all try to convince him” she insisted as she let go of his grip.

“So what, you will go ask him for forgiveness, go alone because I won't risk suffering the same as them” No one uttered anything after that, I didn't listen anymore either, I was done with my charity work.

“We have to decide what to do with them” were the words of someone in the group, as they looked at the trio of men on the ground.

“We must leave them” John was the first to respond, his words surprised everyone.

“What, we can't leave them” protested someone among them, he felt he couldn't handle the guilt of abandoning another person.

“So what, you'll take him, you'll take it upon yourself to carry him and help him until he can escape?”

“No, I'm not saying I will, it just seems cruel, we can carry him together, we still have time and they won't follow us, there's still a long way to go before the sun sets.”

“you could have helped her too, you're no less to blame than me!”

“calm down everyone, this is not the time to find the culprit, we should leave it to a vote, raise your hand to whoever agrees to take him”.

Only one hand was raised among the whole group.

...

“Hey, where is everyone?” her sobbing cries weighed on everyone's mind,

“Please don't leave me, please, my legs hurt so much. Please my legs hurt so much.”

everyone continued on their way even despite hearing the cries, all the way without a word.

“He did it with this intention” sounded a voice after a few hours interrupting a heavy silence that had ensued.

“What are you talking about?”

“They wanted them to suffer the same as their grandma or worse, he knew we would leave them behind.”

A heavy silence was felt after that, as the terrible idea spread through the group.

“I always knew he was a monster.”

I arrived next to my grandma, where I saw her still unconscious, With Dalos at her side, where I had left him, he was a man who had been loyal, so I wfill make sure he survived this.

My plans must change, I can't risk taking on an army, a weak dozen goblins left my mana reserves depleted and I had to use terrain, distraction, and different tactics to get out of there unscathed, out in the open and against orcs in conditions I'm dead.
