Leaping from Dreams to Reality

A man wakes up still cuddling his dakimakura. The air is cold and the sky is dark yet full of stars with 2 moons hanging over the field. Yawning, stretching and rubbing his eyes he slowly starts waking up. A strong gust of wind blows through, pushing his hair and slapping him across his face.

“GAH! Damn wind, how the hell did I end up outside with my pillow?!” Pushing his hair away from his face.

“Hey are you okay?” A young woman calls out to him.

“Huh? Who said that?” Turning around to the voice beside him.

In place of his pillow is a young woman, her platinum blonde hair flowing in the wind, her pale white skin glistening under the 2 moons, and only wrapped in a white silky cloth barely covering her body. The man falls over shocked from seeing her.

“Oh! Are you okay? Did you get hurt somewhere? Or are you sick?” The woman gets up and walks to the man holding her silk cloth with one hand. She sits besides him and holds her hand up to his forehead then checks for any injuries on him. He quietly sits there, the moment her hand touches his head he shivers. His body is now heating up more than ever.

“Oh my goodness! You’re really burning up we should look for a safe place to stay”

“I-I-I uh huh… sur- uhh…” Trying his best to speak he finds his words unable to leave his throat. The woman takes his hand pulling him up and along with her as she leads. Walking across the grassy fields they come to a small dirt path leading through some trees.

“Th-th-thi… Danger…” He’s shivering more, hands getting sweaty as he holds the woman’s hand. She only tightens her grip to keep his hand from slipping out of her’s.

“Don’t worry we’ll be fine, let’s go. I can see a house not too far from here.” Pulling the man along she cautiously checks her surroundings as she walks. But the man could only stare at her completely enamored. Finally reaching an old cabin they invite themselves in after hearing no response from anyone within. The only thing left inside is the musty smell and layers of dust coloring the surfaces. The woman dusts off the wooden couch and sits the man on it.

“You wait here okay? I’ll look for something to help with your overheating and something comfortable to lay on.” Only able to nod yes to her, he sits there patiently. Soaking deeply into his thoughts he fiddles with his fingers looking down at the ground. After a few minutes gone by she returns with a bucket of cold water and a small rag.

“There wasn’t much around here… well I’ll have to work with what I got.” She quickly unwraps her only silk cloth covering her and folds it into a pillow. She sets the silk pillow by the head of the couch and pushes the man to lay down on the wooden couch. Dipping the rag in the cold water and squeezing out the excess she places it on the man’s head. Unperturbed by his gaze she continues to make sure he’s not overheating. Despite her best efforts to take care of him he passes out.

“Good morning, are you feeling a lot better now?” A voice calls out to him.

“Hng… mmm?” He turns over and falls off the couch. “Ahh!”

Getting up rubbing his eyes he sees he's holding his dakimakura again.

“My pillow? Mary! My sweet Mary! Was I dreaming… ?” He thought to himself

“No, Jun. You weren’t doing well so I brought you over to this old cabin, remember?” The same voice speaks to him again.

“Wait. What?! Mary, so you did become real?” Jun sat up on the ground and looked at the picture of Mary on the dakimakura.

“Yes, I did help you get better didn’t I?” Mary’s voice reaches his ears as if she’s right in front of him.

“How? How? How? Where the heck are we and why is my waifu talking to me? I mean I don’t hate it and in fact I’m in heaven for witnessing what I witnessed before I passed out. But… wait this is actually heaven isn’t it?” Jun rambled as he held the pillow.

“Always the chatterbox huh. I’m feeling awfully tired though… I reverted to this form not too long ago.” She sighs, unable to do anything as a pillow.

“Wait. How did you get into my arms if you turned into a pillow could you move at all in this form?” He sits on the couch and sits Mary beside him.

“No, I was in your arms way before that happened.”

“Wha-” Choking on his next word, the thought of him in tight embrace with Mary as she was nude rushed to his head. Before she can utter another word. Jun passes out a second time, his head falling back on the silk pillow.

“Jun!!” She shouts to no avail.
