Another chapter today. But this time, I want to try the story from the first person point of view.
*****
Occasionally as we walked, I shot the lone goblin I saw here and there. And as we grew closer to the castle the goblins grew bigger and stronger.
We didn't see the scouts very often anymore. And I had to shoot some goblins more than once. Sometimes I missed but more often they had armor. It was very annoying.
If we were closer I wouldn't have the problem. But by the time I was close enough for a sure hit. Jorge often cast his fireball. My arrows kept being destroyed..
However without my saying anything, Jorge noticed that my arrows were being destroyed. "Dude. Why didn't you tell me? If I knew about it, I'd have killed the other goblins!"
From then on, he didn't attack the goblins that I attacked. So while they did tend to get a little closer to us, I got more kills in. And best of all, I no longer lost so many arrows.
We often had to stop and rest as Jorge kept telling me to slow down and wait. Something about too many fireballs.
I didn't mind however. We were very close to the castle, and the goblins often attacked us as I waited. Killing them was something to do.
I had lots of arrows at this time. Before I had been making arrows whenever I had the chance. Though I didn't have anything to put on the end of them so most of them were wood.
I tried to get my arrows back whenever I could, But sometimes I couldn't find them.
We made it to the castle entrance. There was a lot of trash and broken wood things in the entrance, So we would have to climb over it.
So I got myself a good idea. "We could burn it. Then we won't have to climb over it"
Jorge looked at me. "Nice idea Watt, But it would take ages for it to burn and then you have to wait for the ground to cool down"
Oh.
So we climbed over the junk. I didn't have much trouble with it. Whenever it shifted, it was very fun trying to stand upright.
Jorge however kept complaining because his robe caught on everything. He also tripped and had to crawl most of the time.
I saw a goblin climbing towards us. But it was closer to Jorge, so I waited for him to kill it.
But he shook his head. "We are standing on burnable things. If I kill him. Its going to catch on fire"
So I killed it for him.
We got past the top of the garbage pile and crawled to the bottom of the pile behind a table which lay on its side. When we looked over it, there was a LOT of goblins.
It was scary. We never saw this many before.
Like what Jorge said. "Wow. There's got to be a hundred of them. I wonder which one is the leader?"
They hadn't noticed us yet. But Jorge tripped and accidentally pushed the table over.
It was very noisy.
So obviously the closest goblins noticed us.
They roared "Humans! Humans at the gate!" and started running towards us.
The other goblins noticed and started running towards us as well.
Jorge yelled in return "Kill them aaaall!"
So we started fighting.
Jorge showed me a new spell which created a wall of fire. But it couldn't cover a large area, and if he brought it too close to us. It would catch the garbage we was standing on- on fire.
The wall of fire also wasn't very high. So whenever I saw a goblin I shot them. It was pretty easy as most of them didn't wear armour on their faces.
Some of the goblins tried to go through the fire. But they died very fast as they couldn't see my arrows.
So most of them went around the sides. I was almost out of arrows by the time they stopped coming.
When I saw why, I kind of wanted the smaller goblins to return.
One of the large goblins with a red name had come to fight. The other goblins were standing out of his way.
His name said "Commander Brlock" and it was red.
Jorge said "Oh crap. Is he the leader?"
The goblin was huge. I mean it was bigger than me.
It had leather gear with plates of iron attached, and held a small round shield and a sword in the other hand.
Its face was covered by a iron helmet, and the chest had iron protecting it but the arms had only leather and the hands had no protection.
Not a great target, but I could probably shoot its hands.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
At the very least, it might drop the stuff and surrender.
Jorge is obviously powerful, and fire is painful.
It roared and jumped straight through the fire.
Jorge yelled "Shit!" as it pounded towards us.
I tried shooting its hands, but it was using the shield to protect itself.
So I shot at its feet with one of my stone tipped arrows.
I had only three left after that.
The arrow managed to penetrate the leather boots, and when Brlock stumbled with the pain, I quickly fired two more arrows at its hands.
I managed to hit the hand holding the shield, and as I hoped. It dropped the shield.
But it was still holding the sword.
I quickly dodged to the side to escape it. But Jorge was left scrambling to get out of the way and Brlock was about to hit him.
So I kicked Brlock's left foot and he stumbled and missed Jorge.
Jorge ran to a empty corner and surrounded himself with walls of fire to drive the other goblins away as I ran away.
When I looked behind, Brlock was following me and starting to pick up speed. I couldn't do much as if I tried to shoot it I would get caught.
I came on a corner and went around. But there was a goblin in the way.
I frog leaped over it before it realised what was happening.
It fell down, and Brlock didn't see it in time and tripped. So I used that chance to send my last stone arrow into his sword shoulder.
He snarled and started to get up. Jorge yelled to me "Bring him to the top of the garbage pile!"
After a series of dodging and jumping and generally staying out of its way.
We started climbing the pile.
Brlock wasn't having a fun time. He was way too heavy and couldn't balance on it like me.
When I was standing on the top of the pile, he was wobbling and eyeing the ground between us.
"Get off it Watt!" Jorge yelled.
Brlock choose that moment to leap at me, which was particularly scary because I lost my balance.
I slid all the way to the bottom, and from my position I saw a MASSIVE fireball fly over my head.
"Get away from there!" Jorge then screamed.
None of the goblins attacked me as I crawled away.
I saw the reason as most of them had been killed by his fireballs while I had been running.
The ones that were still alive were cowering and trying to hide.
There was a large semi-explosion behind me. When I looked back, the entire garbage pile was on fire and I couldn't see Brlock.
Jorge ran to me and excitedly yelled "We killed him! That was epic!"
Sitting up, I caught my breath. The chase had been really exciting.
We spent the next few hours collecting what arrows I could, and killing the goblins we could find.
After killing a goblin we found in a tower. We received a message.
*Tring*
> Castle of Trisbine has been cleared.
> Fame +50
Jorge grinned at me and gave me a high-five.
We ate and rested for a while as Jorge reassured me that nothing would attack us now.
When we came down the tower to the entrance, the pile of garbage was now just a large smudge of smoke and ashes. There was also a iron shield lying on the ground which was glowing slightly red.
I had gotten most of the loot from the other goblins, so I pointed at it and said "That's yours"
Jorge asked me "You sure?"
I nodded. Its not like I would be using it.
He smiled. "Awesome". He looked it over and didn't seem to mind the heat, then he put it in his inventory. The ground was still very hot, but Jorge didn't have much problems with it, and he showed me the areas that were cool enough for me to walk through the entrance to exit the castle.
For the entire castle, most of the goblins were killed by me. Jorge didn't mind however. As he said. "You fire arrows far too fast dude. What's really scary is that you don't miss"
The goblins were also easier to kill after that. I had gotten used to fighting them.
Jorge asked me if I wanted to stick around with him.
I nodded. He was a great guy to be with.
He also asked me if I wanted to be friends with him.
"Yes" I smiled. My second friend in this game.
