Anna's POV:

  As I was mesmerized by Lord Edward's genuine smile, a commotion was to be heard outside the room. Due to our curiosity, we stopped our conversation and shook our heads towards the door to listen. But because of the closed door, the words became muffled to the point that it seemed incomprehensible. Unexpectedly, the commotion stopped for a moment. Then,

  KNOCK!!! A strong force slammed the door that it made a loud noise.

   This made the three of us inside the room became shocked and anxious. Because of my growing curiosity, I immediately stood up and went to the door. As I slightly opened the door, I heard their conversation.

  "Get out of my way!! I want to get inside!!" A woman said angrily.

  "Sorry, ma'am but they're having a meeting inside," Axe said with his deep voice.

   "I don't care! I want to talk to my husband. My daughter hasn't come home, I've been trying to find her everywhere." The woman argued.

  "You mean Anna?" Cleave tried to guess.

  "Yes! But wait... How do you know her name?"

  "Well, you see-"

  I opened the door and interrupted Axe, "Mama!"

  Mama looked in my direction. Ironically, her eyes were burning with rage and veins were popping on her head. Her presence was oozing with malice that she almost seemed scarier than Axe and Cleave.

  She moved towards my direction slowly and intimidatingly that it even made Axe and Cleave stayed out of her way. Upon arriving near me, her presence became way scarier that it made me looked like a pitiful kitten in the presence of a vile beast.

  The beast spoke, "Young lady, where have you been? Do you know how long I've been looking for you? What excuse might you make up right now, I wonder." Due to her kind voice contradicting her unfathomable presence. She changed from beast to psychopathic killer about to go on a killing spree.

  Although I have a reasonable excuse, I wasn't able to say it or even thought of it, as FEAR had already consumed my very being. The only glimmer of hope I had was Axe and Cleave, I immediately stared at them in a gesture as if begging for help. But those two buffoons immediately shook their heads away, feigning ignorance while smiling menacingly as if they were satisfied with this dangerous situation. Traitors!!!

  All hope was lost, punishment was inevitable. My legs were trembling and cold sweat was pouring relentlessly while the crackling noises of Mama's fist had veins popping out. With tears almost bursting out from my eyes, I said in a stutter, "Ï-I-I-I-I'm s-s-sorry!!"

  POW!! POW!! POW!!

  When Mama's fist came in contact with my head, it felt like a piece of iron was thrown from the skies and landed on my head. When the deed was done, three huge hills came popping out of my head. The stinging pain it left, made me cry a river. For a few moments, I sob and sob.

  To my surprise, Mama hugged me tightly, her face extremely worried while she was holding her tears from coming out. We were hugging for some time, her hug felt like sitting next to the fireplace in the cold winter — it was quite warm and comfortable.

  "Don't ever worry me like this," Mama said worriedly.

  I nodded.

  "When I heard about the Noble who came here, I thought you already left me."

  I was dead silent, feeling quite guilty inside.

  If the situation wasn't like this, I wouldn't want to go. But alas, it's not.

  Right now at this very moment, I wished for time to stop. So I could stay here for a little longer, being held tightly on my Mama's warm bosom.

  As I and my Mama are having our moment, Axe and Cleave stared awkwardly at us like we were doing a play in a drama, it was quite embarrassing.

  The door to the workplace suddenly opened, the person who came out was Lord Edward. He's probably worried why it took me long to get inside.

  Unexpectedly, mama immediately walked towards Lord Edward without a hint of hesitation. When she arrived a few meters away from Lord Edward she stopped and stared at him as if investigating. And then...

  SLAP!!!

  Mama slapped so hard that a sound can be heard resonating. The slap left a noticeable bruise and blood flowed on Lord Edward's cheek. I know it's quite absurd that a slap can do that much damage but that wasn't any normal slap. It was reinforced by Magecraft as I was able to see faint traces of Mana Circuits on Mama's palms before she slapped Lord Edward.

  As I was staring at that jaw-dropping spectacle, my head was spinning into confusion.

  'How can Mama just slap someone she had never met? I know she's frustrated by the fact that the Noble will take me but it's unreasonable to just hit someone without asking. What if she hit the wrong person? Is she insane?!!'

  Despite the fact that I'm against Mama's actions, I cant seem to move or speak. It was as if there was some kind of superior force that prevents me from doing anything. And this superior force came from none other than my Mama.

  A superior golden aura can be sensed emanating inside her. This very aura makes my spine chill.

  I worriedly check my Mama but when I looked at her... She was different. Her kind eyes have become as sharp as a dagger. Her kind yet strict presence has become akin to a... Monster.

  'Is this really my Mama? It's like I'm staring at a different entity.' I thought worryingly.

  Due to the unusual presence of my Mama add in the fact that she slapped Lord Edward, Axe and Cleave became cautious and were about to take the axes hanging on their backs. But before they could do that, Lord Edward stopped them with a gesture. It was like he was saying "Don't interfere".

  "Noble, did you come here to take my daughter?" Mama spoke in a cold voice while her eyes sharp eyes were focusing at Lord Edward as if he was some kind of prey.

  Lord Edward took a handkerchief from his pocket, wiped the blood from his cheeks, and replied elegantly, "Yes, my name is Edward Von Quagmire."

  "For what purpose?"

  "To teach her how to become a Noble and marry her in the future."

  "How can I be so sure that you won't harm my daughter?"

  "I know it's hard for you to believe me as we only met for the very first time. But I swear I will never hurt Anna." Lord Edward looked at me as he said those words,

  "Do you swear to the River of Styx?" Mama said coldly while he waited for Lord Edward's answer.

  I don't know what the River of Styx is but after hearing Mama's question, Lord Edward's eyes look startled and he paused for a while. After a few seconds, he regained his composure and answered, "I'm sorry Mrs. Alyas but I'm not one of the believers of the Olympian Gods. The Oath to the River of Styx will not work to a person like me who is a faithful believer of the Norse Gods."

  The golden aura that was emanating from Mama began to move like small waves while at the same time the atmosphere became denser and denser. Then Mama said coldly with her eyes full of murderous intent, "Then you will have to step over my body if you want to take my daughter away from me."

  The situation has become dangerous, I want to stop it but right now I'm utterly powerless. Axe and Cleave have begun taking their axes and are about to go to battle. But Lord Edward still gestured them to not interfere.

  Lord Edward then tried to talk to Mama as if calming her down, "Mrs. Alyas I didn't come here to---"

  In a split of a second, the small waves of aura immediately compressed itself on Mama and a bright light shone all over the area blinding everyone.

  And there, I saw her, bathed in golden radiance, beaming with a majestic aura. Her golden hair was like white fire dancing in the air while her sharp purple eyes were like fine jewel preying upon me.
