As Valor pressed the button, the world around him exploded into a blinding light. He closed his eyes tight, and when he opened them again, he found himself in a hospital bed. The room was bright, and the air smelled of antiseptic.
Confused and disoriented, he looked around the room and saw a TV on the wall in front of him. The news was on, and the person being interviewed was a girl with black hair and ocean-like eyes. He couldn't take his eyes off her.
"And here we have the famous pro-raider, 16-year-old Moon Daya!" The news reporter continued his interview. "Tell us, Moon nim, tell us about the tomb. "Moon Daya paused for a moment, her gaze thoughtful. Valor couldn't help but blush as he looked at her.
"Well, it was an average tomb with a werewolf boss monster," she said. "Surprisingly, there was a civilian inside; while suffering some injuries, he managed to survive."
Before she could say more, the TV clicked off. Valor turned his attention to the door as a man in a suit with a scruffy beard entered the room. It took him a moment to recognize him, but then he realized it was his father.
"Dad?!" he exclaimed.
His father's eyes filled with tears, and he covered them for a moment before embracing his son tightly.
"Son, I'm so glad you're okay!" he said, his voice choked with emotion.
Valor pushed away from his father and smiled. "Dad, I'm fine. You don't have to worry about me." His father ruffled his hair, and a lecture began. But as he talked, a screen appeared in front of Valor.
[Welcome, Valor, you promised.]
[Don't fail me.]
Confused, Valor looked back at the screen. [Status] appeared, and he clicked the button.

Valor turned toward his father, staring at him for a moment. "Uh, yeah. But aren't you seeing this?" He gestured to the screen.
His father sighed and scratched the back of his neck. "I see that you're not listening to me. Look, I know you're tired. Just promise me you won't do anything so reckless again."
Valor nodded. "Yeah, I promise. Sorry for worrying you."
Stolen story; please report.
They both fell silent, and Valor looked back at the screen, still baffled. As his father walked toward the door, he called out, "Don't forget you have school tomorrow!"
Valor fell back on the bed, putting his hands behind his head. He closed his eyes and started to drift off to sleep. But before he could, he received a loud notification.
[Quest: The Way To Raiding!]
As the notification ding sounded, Valor sat up in bed, groggy from the nap he'd taken. "The Way to Raiding?" he muttered, staring at the screen. He rubbed his eyes and clicked on the quest, still trying to process the idea of all this.
[The Way To Raiding!]
Objective: Get switched to the Raider program at The Tomb Hunter's Institute.
Time Limit: 30 Days
Reward: ???
Penalty: Expulsion from the academy.
"Expulsion?" Panic set in as sweat dripped down his face, landing on his hands. "The tuition was so much... I can't afford to be expelled!"
Taking a deep breath, Valor got out of bed. Rest was the last thing on his mind. He needed to act fast. The nurse gave him a confused look as he walked quickly out of the hospital. Once outside, he ran laps around the hospital and did other various workouts. The other patients, as well as some nurses and doctors, watched in awe as the wounds seemed to have healed overnight.
After a couple of hours of intense exercise, he was discharged from the hospital. Running to the dorms of the academy, the wind ran through his hair. He couldn't wait to get started with his new life at school. As he arrived at the dorms, he saw students already wearing their uniforms, walking around the campus. The uniform was a sleek blazer, a shirt, and pants in the school colors. The crest on the uniform was that of a torch with the school's initials under it.
The walk to his room was filled with excitement as he observed the polished wooden floors and white granite walls, with students enjoying their lives. Valor entered his room and saw someone already sleeping in the other bed.
"A roommate?" he mumbled, shrugging. He took off his shoes and sat down in his bed, instantly falling asleep from the intense workouts.
RING RING RING
RING RING RING
Valor's alarm went off for a couple of minutes. He practically jumped out of bed and looked around in panic. Then, with a single look at his phone, he let out a brief sigh of relief. But when he picked up his phone, the ease had turned to bullets of sweat dripping down his face.
"I'm late!" Valor rushed to put on his uniform and pushed out the door. "My roommate couldn't have woken me up?"
As he ran through the halls of the primary school area, the other students looked confused at Valor. He arrived at his first class, Scouting 101, panting and out of breath.
"Good morning, you must be Gold nim," a young man in his late twenties said, startling Valor. He was holding a tripwire and had a complete beard. "You know, at this academy, we try to show up on time."
Valor sighed and looked at the teacher. His eyes pierced into Valor, but then the teacher chuckled, "Don't look so panicked, kid; sit down; I'm just messing with you."
"Alright, thank you," Valor took a seat. "You can just call me Valor."
"Okay, well, we were just talking about traps inside tombs and dungeons." The teacher continued with his lecture, and Valor couldn't help but notice the green-haired girl sitting next to him with her eyes wide open in surprise. Her hair was stunning and flowed onto the desk where she was sitting. She seemed surprised to see Valor, but then she blinked and went back to paying attention to the lecture.
After the lecture portion of the class had ended, the teacher put away his books and surveyed the students. "Alright, as you all know, this is the Tomb Hunter's Institute - a prestigious academy focused on exploring the various tombs and dungeons that appear," he cleared his throat. "So today, we will be doing some practical scout training!"
The classroom buzzed with excitement and anticipation, and Valor couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement. After the trouble he got into with the werewolf tomb, he was ready to get back out there.
The teacher cleared his throat again, this time at a louder volume as if to silence the students. "I will be placing you into teams of three."
Valor's grin slowly faded as disappointment set in. He was hoping to be working alone, but it seemed luck was not on his side today. The teacher began picking the teams without much hesitation, and certain groups were excited they had been paired with their friends, while others looked a bit disappointed with their teams.
Finally, the teacher drew the last three names from the bucket. "Valor, Kim Minho, and Ito Akiko," he announced.
The green-haired girl walked up to Valor and smiled. "Nice to meet you; I'm Ito Akiko."
"Yeah, it's nice to meet you too. As you know, I'm Valor," he replied.
Just then, Valor felt a tap on his shoulder. Turning around, he saw a buff teenager with messy black hair as if he hadn't combed it that morning. "I am Kim Minho. Hello," he said, towering over Valor.
Valor introduced himself back to Kim Minho, smiling. "I look forward to working with the both of you."
"Alright, kids, go change into your practical outfits!" the teacher shouted out into the room as the students left.
