The World of Legends and Librarians
This series is set in a fantasy world created by story gods, so magical libraries are very important. They grow from the ground like plants and have great book trees at the center of them. The trees are fueled by people reading in the library and they even grow books from their branches like apples. Every year these magical libraries host a story festival where writers offer up their new books to the gods and get inspiration for the year to come.
The Characters
Nyssa is a hard-working librarian who's favorite library is about to disappear because nobody's been visiting it anymore. She's determined to revive it, but when she gets there, she realizes the books have come to life! Characters have leapt off the pages and are roaming the library while the townsfolk are terrified of the "spirits haunting the mountain" the library's on. She needs to help the town realize that the library is safe and that the story spirits aren't dangerous by the time the Tales and Tomes Festival ends, otherwise she risks losing the library she calls home.
Roan is a wandering adventurer who never stays anywhere for too long because he's afraid of getting close to anyone again after being abandoned as a child. When he sees a librarian trying to revive a library that was hit by a wild magic storm, he decides to stay and help to make sure she's safe. Wild magic is unpredictable and he's worried the story spirits are dangerous, but he ends up finding a home he never knew he needed and people to call family.
Willow is the female main character of book 2 and she's a writer who helps Nyssa out in the first book. The Tales and Tomes Festival required a writer to offer their new book up to the story gods, so Willow offered her newly written book. She dropped it in a magical book well that connects to the story gods and received a note back about it, but nobody knows what it said except her.

The Demon Lord is the male main character of book 2 and he's one of the characters who came to life out of the books. He's the villain of a very famous book series about a hero fighting off the demon lord's army. He's a grumpy character who protects the library at all costs, even if he has to terrify a few humans to do it.
Misty is the Misty Mountain Library's nickname. I don't really know how to say much more without a big spoiler for book one though...hmmm...I feel like you'll probably be able to guess as you're reading book 2, so it should be fine. Leave a comment if you're confused though!
The Rest of the Story Spirits
Mochi is an adorable red panda who always has a snack for when you're hungry. Humans don't understand him, but the other story spirits seem to. He's from a children's book about a panda throwing a party and he opens up a snack shack at the library to hand out tasty treats.
The golem is a gentle forest giant made of rocks and plants with red poppies around its shoulders. It loves to garden and will be upset if anyone steals its flowers.
A group of tiny dragons who love to play with a group of even tinier knights cause a bit of chaos in the library. The dragons just want to have fun, but the knights are looking for a new King and they think they might have found their man in Roan.
Lisa is a librarian who becomes close friends with Nyssa. She's the one who keeps all the story spirits in line and helps Roan understand them a bit better.
The lending libraries are sentient lending libraries that hop around like eager puppies looking for new books. Wild magic brought them to life and all they want to do is share their books with people.
