(GRAB)
“What the fuck was that?”
A small forest dwelling. The light was beginning to dim. The group has set up camp here and were then
encircling a campfire to absorb as much of its warmth as possible.
Kasha was responsible for reattaching the severed arm back to Elijah’s body, the junction, where it was
severed off from, is covered in blood and grime as well as a special ointment that helped close off the
area over the course of the last two hours. The arm was still not at original capacity.
First thing after having stabilized the healed arm Elijah stomped up to Da’prof and grabbed his collar
before barking out this question.
“You weren’t careful enough out there, lad. But don’t worry, we will drill the basics of dodging and
stamina control into-”
*SLAP*
A heavy slap in the face interrupted his speech as Da’prof’s face was thrown to the side.
“I ALMOST DIED, YOU ASSHOLE!”
Elijah’s vocabulary became increasingly curse-heavy as he continued to hold onto Da’prof and to drill
him with his words.
“I don’t know what you want me to do about it, lad.”
The blatant non-understanding infuriated the fragile man even further as he wound up a strong punch to
Da’prof’s face. Before he could unleash it however, his hand was stopped by Ruroma and held in a
tight grip.
Elijah looked back in his sheer wrath only to find a stoic mask of condescension looking down on him.
Ruroma could have said many things that were inside of his mind but he chose to remain silent and just
stared down on Elijah with his stern dark-brown eyes reminding the man of a mighty forest.
He backed down.
This is the Draconic Tower of Ascension. A tower that invited the people to climb it. A tower that
blatantly revealed its dangers to the world. A tower, where dying is just another occurrence of the day.
For Elijah to be such a hypocrite and to assault Da’prof even though this dangerous situation was none
other than his own fault is ludicrous to put it nicely.
‘Damn NPC. Do as I say for god’s sake. What a shitty tutorial. If we ever meet again once I am
stronger I will take my revenge, just you wait.’
But that thought hadn’t crossed his mind even a single time. Instead it was this moment that made him
decide to look down upon DToA’s inhabitants for good.
He actively widened his distance to Da’prof and Ruroma while being cautious of the other two
Girgisch.
Limin decided to remain impartial and simply continued acting like she had before the this day’s battle.
A small part of him wanted to blame her, who had the role of a pinch-helper, that she didn’t protect him
in time but he discarded that train of thought.
By using god knows what evidence Elijah concluded that Da’prof must have coerced her and the rest of
them to refrain from helping him in the dangerous situation and so he did not blame her for what the
leader did.
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Only Kasha showed a different reaction as she closed the distance between them and tightly embraced
the man from the side.
‘She smells so nice.’
Almost unconsciously Elijah opened up to her and the two of them grew closer together.
‘I shouldn’t discriminate all of the Girgisch only because a few of them are nothing but mindless idiots.
Maybe I should give this whole thing another try.’
Almost as if bargaining with himself Elijah actively gave into a dream of acceptance only to drift into a
deep sleep while cradled in the arms of his new love, Kasha.
But are dreams not dreams because they do not represent reality?
…
Skipping forward to the next day, the group has slept in three previously set up tents, Da’prof and
Ruroma in one tent, Limin in another, Kasha and Elijah shared the third tent.
The fire was kept lit with a material called Perpetual Dedril, a flammable material that regenerates its
fibers while burning. To ward off the monsters and beasts of the night the group set up a triple-layer of
protection.
1)Highly Fragrant pink flower-petals were crushed and burned to create a sweet scent, that
deterred the monsters.
2)Kasha activated a skill called ‘Boticelli’s aria of Doves’, that painted the ground with
insigniae and unknown patterns, which apparently serve the same purpose as the burnt
flower-incense.
3)Limin and Da’prof took turns to keep guard over the place in case there were any unforseen
monsters attacking the group.
The sound that awoke the naked Elijah was a system notification rustling him out of his peaceful sleep.
[You are judged to have completed Quest #2: Succession of Knowledge (2)!]
[You are now given the privilege of choosing your new class!]
[Warning: Choosing a new class is a near-permanent decision! There are very few methods of reversing
this decision! Proceed with Caution!]
The still perplexed Elijah was greeted by these messages as well as another one:

[If you wish, you can choose your class from an extended Selection!]
It was a lot to take in after just waking up. Essentially this is the result of Elijah managing to complete
Main Quest #2: ‘Succession of Knowledge (2)!’, though he himself was unsure what exactly he did for
the Quest to be counted as achieved. He did have one inkling though.
‘It is called the Tower of Ascendance… It couldn’t be, could it?’
Needless to say, Elijah’s mind was far away from the truth.
The second Tutorial Quest was made for the Player to succeed the knowledge of the assigned party.
The knowledge includes basic combat-knowledge such as the use of skills and Party-Play but it extends
to the menial tasks such as path-finding, scouting, hunting for food, preparing camp and other smaller
tasks. Throughout the first day of his travels, Elijah had been constantly ‘bothered’ by the party.
For each small task they would stop and try to explain to Elijah what they were doing.
-The moss covering the forest trees is unevenly coating the tree bark. By watching the direction
it is concentrated at, you can determine potential spots for getting water.
-By collecting this special flower, you can find in the next two floors, you can create an incense,
that wards off monsters and has regenerative properties when you breathe it in.
-You can tell, which parts of the monsters are edible by watching their coloration and using
water to...
-Keep your food away from camp or…
-Watch out for markings like this! There are…
Elijah simply brushed these many instances off as bothersome and didn’t even remember them when
looking back at his memories of yesterday.
If he had remembered, the man might have been able to deduce the contents of his last Quest…
[Do you wish to see the extended Selection?]
The Notification window was still hovering in front of Winchester’s face, egging him on to give his
answer.
“No, this selection is fine.”
After mulling it over and after remembering his Master Loafpotato’s teachings he rejected the proposal
from the System.
In one of the later posts of Loafpotato91021 he would go on to leave a side-comment on the class-
selection. According to his research and his brother’s words, the class-selection given by the system
would most of the time give the Player their ideal starting class from the list of available classes.
Master Loafpotato said something about using ‘Big Data’ to create confidence intervals for parameters,
which would then be able to somehow determine his ideal selection.
Depending on the person the recommended selection could go up to 10 different classes in order of
estimated compatibility.
Since all that stuff went way beyond the self-entitled protagonist’s head, he decided to just accept it as a
simple ‘Trust the System! The System is Great!’ and then go along as usual.
Now regarding this specific selection, there was no information helping him out; in other words this
decision was purely Elijah’s to make.
And immediately a certain class peaked the ex-soccer-player’s interest: Striker. A Class specialized on
using your footwork to approach and attack enemies and a class with potential to gain long-range skills
depending on the Player’s development.
‘They are similar.’
With its offensive capabilities and its flashy play-style this class was sure to stand out among the team.
‘No, they are the same.’
Elijah Winchester, previously an aspiring professional soccer-player. His favorite color is red. His
favorite position being…
“I choose the Striker Class!”
