Tutorial information #3

Hello guys,

two weeks ago my brother went for a dive into the volcano (emoji) and he has now sent me a message

with more information on the whole thing. In this thread I want to share with you information about the

Cutscene Tutorial:

It is widely a mystery on how the Cutscene Tutorial progresses specifically. We have been given many

information including the general progress and tips about the Cutscene Tutorial but are left fully

unaware about its actual contents such as landscape, mobs, NPCs, secrets, degree of freedom or other.

Once I asked my brother about information on the Tutorial Cutscene, I was only given one line of text.

“The smell reminded me of iron”

Even after asking for further elaboration I have not gotten any more precise information.

There seems to be a lock on information regarding the Tutorial Cutscene and thus I hypothesize that

you can get a Major Secret Quest in this level.

Please Upvote and share so that more people can see this!

|→ → → OMG same! My girlfriend’s ex-wife had a dog! And, hear me out!, that dog went on an

ascent and he sent her a telepathic message over to her smartphone! What these guys said is 100% true!

I swear on my girlfriend’s ex-wife’s dog’s life!

For the thoroughly prepared Elijah the Tutorial Cutscene presented a dangerous territory due to its

mysterious character.

Of course he was quite interested in what the tower had prepared for him. Would the Tutorial NPCs

look human?

[Quest #1: Succession of Knowledge(1)]

[

Contents:

In a vacuum a living being can only do so much.

A group of beings gather together to form what we call a society but even then we need time to build

upon and renew the knowledge of our ancestors!

Succession! Undergo a journey of knowledge, study your elders and learn from their shortcomings!

Clear condition: Join the group of purple razor fangs on their adventure and reach the location point as

per their instructions.

Reward: Exp. Points +50, 1 magic-weapon voucher, Rarity level: D, Linked Quest will open up!

]

Nonetheless, once the quest arrived, he did not have the leeway to study this new information:

The Quest notification was transmitted into the brain of the now retching man. Instant teleportation

added on top of the noise seemed to have been too much for Elijah as he puked out his last meal, a

salmon-sandwich with grilled cheese as topping.

“Heya, we finally got our newbie!”

Elijah heard a shout coming from his right and tried to look up but was forced down to the ground from

the feeling of nausea somehow becoming worse.

His entire nose seemed to be filled with the smell of iron as his tongue felt cold and he simply

continued staring down to the ground and doing his thing.

Suddenly a strong hand rubbed his back and an even stronger voice brought him some alleviation.

“Don’t worry, pal! It’s not the first time I have seen guys like you. Try to focus on your breathing and

take your time to adjust. You should especially concentrate on the air’s smell.”

“But-!- *Burp*”

The strong hand gave him a powerful slap on the back making Elijah puke out another load.

[First Damage taken! -2HP!]

The message soured his still slightly basic mood.

“No need to concern yourself with safety in this place! The monsters will only come out if we go into

the more dangerous areas of this arena! Just focus on recouping and you will be good to go!”

The energetic and bright tone reminded the ex-soccer-player of his old team captain, Pablo Dallingham.

He obediently followed his elder’s instructions and after a minute or two his gag-reflex seemed to calm down for now.

This NPC seemed to really know his stuff.

Strangely enough the smell of iron continued to permeate the innards of his nasal tunnels, ‘Probably a

property of the location we are in’, he thought.

Elijah took out a flask of water, which he had conveniently placed inside his pockets for the trip to DToA’s

entrance and which was conveniently still pretty full as took a nice sip of carbonated water.

“In hindsight I might have wanted to bring along a backpack with me, ain’t that right chief?”

For now Elijah tried to strike up a conversation with the NPC, hoping to build some Affection points in the early game.

“Hahaha! I like you kiddo!”

It seemed to work without any problems as the guy helped him get up on his feet with a big smile on his face.

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

Now that he was back on his feet Elijah was able to scan his surroundings including the man helping

with his recovery.

Unlike his expectations calling this person a human did not seem that far fetched on first sight.

Tanned skin, burly arms, a lean build hidden underneath blue leather and silk and a face etched out of

expensive stone. To the ex-college-student and young man this was a person to respect and to take after,

a role model.

On second look however he noticed a scary thing about this man.

Elijah’s face contorted in a mixture of both horror and shock. You see:

This man was only really half a man! And not in a metaphoric sense or figuratively, no, this man’s back

half was simply non-existent!

Instead of a smooth back with clearly defined muscle-partitions there wasa layer of 3 metal plates

seemingly welded together to create a near-even mirror of steel reflecting Elijah’s own green eyes at

himself.

After remaining silent out of shock, Elijah noticed the sound of gears churning and turning against each

other like a well-aged machine.

Even the clothing adorning his front was only fixated by being knotted around six separate metal knobs

at the plate’s sides.

“Surprised?”, the still unnamed man smirked.

“This is surely your first time seeing a guy like me, so let me give you a rundown, kiddo!”

“My name is daprowrifjiv! It’s probably hard for you humans to pronounce so just call me Da'prof!”

After giving his name Da'prof turned around for his back to fully come into view.

“All the humanoid creatures you find in the first layer of the tower are of the Girgisch-Species or in

your terms we are Gear-Humans or Human-Robots!“

To Elijah the smile on his lips didn’t match his words.

A living being calling itself a robot and smiling. This thought didn’t fit inside his head, be it for ethical

or conceptual reasons.

*Smack!*

“Turn that frown upside down, kiddo! I’ll give you the rundown later but for now you are free to think

of us however you like. Treat us like fellow humans or just as tools for your own ascent? Your choice,

really! If you want to, you can just treat me how you tried to a sec’ ago! I don’t mind, really!”

A simple smack on his shoulder. Once again Elijah was reminded of his charismatic team-leader but

now this thought left a bitter taste inside of his mouth.

NPC: Non-Player Character. Elijah caught himself thinking of Mr. Da’prof that way and now the man

felt guilty and confused. How should he answer to that? Should he address this topic further? Should he

try to avoid it? Would that make him immoral?

At the end of the day, a sudden question of anthropology* was just thrown at an apparently immature

man unable to handle answering.

He decided to remain silent and followed his guide.

In an attempt to distract himself Elijah ended up focusing on the new surroundings, which he had now

been ported into:

Tutorial information #4

Hello guys,

two weeks ago my brother went for a dive into the volcano (emoji) and he has now sent me a message

with more information on the whole thing. In this thread I want to share with you information about the

General Dungeon Layout:

There apparently are several hints on a consistent design-philosophy of each floor’s layout!

Here I present the information my brother was able to gather:

1) Each connected component will have a color-theme and a monster-theme going into it!

-Color-theme: The surroundings will mostly be colored after the current color-theme!

Possible themes could be warm, cold, blue-tones, green-tones, etc,

-Monster-theme: The monsters will hold their own theme mostly unrelated to the color-theme!

Possible themes include reptiles, machines, lovecraftian horror, etc.

2) Diversions from either theme as well as combination of both themes have elevated chances on

leading to hidden events but their difficulty is horrendous enough that no sane person should try to go

for these strategies!

3) You can mostly find the information on the next floor by actively engaging with various NPCs and

doing some basic world-exploration!

4) Every zone or rather every layer possesses its own ecosystem and thus your activities will have to be

regulated based on the ecosystem. If you obstruct the ecosystem or try to deform the map itself, you

will be punished accordingly. Neither my brother nor I have any accurate information on the matter, so

proceed at your own discretion!

5) There are always several ways to gain Exp. pts. and most of the time you will be allowed infinite

time to grind out levels before each layer! Notable ways to gain Exp. include:

-slaying monsters

-doing quests

-leveling up your skills

-potions and items

-actively engaging in your job’s occupation

-Exchanging stats or valuables with the system

6) The difficulty-curve will be different for each ascent and bosses are not spawned in regular intervals.

7) The tower will not be the same for two different people attempting to climb it! There are individual

parts that follow a rogue-like map-generation and there are parts done in groups which are also

randomly generated but with less variation between each generation.

Please Upvote and share so that more people can see this!

Note: This thread gained popularity right about this message. There were hundreds of replies when

scrolling down and Elijah found out about it around 8 months ago.

‘It seems for now I can just trust into the wisdom of Mr. Loafpotato’,

Elijah mentally told himself while looking up at his favorite potato-idol.

This floor seemed to be ingrained the color-theme of ‘primeval jungle’.

Dark green vines covered a large amount of the mossy ground, it felt like walking on large clusters of

rock.

Elijah Winchester needed to be careful at any step he took since every step could land his feet inside a

trap made from the nature’s design: An ankle-breaking pitfall.

The further they strayed from the starting position the more Elijah’s sense of smell started to register

new aromas guiding his nose forward. From a nauseating smell of iron into an otherworldly aroma of

exotic flowers and heavy earth. The climate slowly changed as the two of them started sweating.

The sky was mostly a dark-brown roof of mud but occasionally a bunch of purple rays came running

down the small cracks in the roof’s facade.

“Don’t worry! We are almost at our first destination, lad! Now’s the time to ask your questions if you

have any!”, Da’prof told him with a cheerful attitude.

The two of them had walked in complete silence until now, mostly because Elijah had not yet collected

the courage to hold a conversation with the Gear-Human. But now seemed to be the last time for a 1-

on-1-conversation so he got his bearings together and asked the NPC some questions.

“What will we find at our destination, Sir?”

“My comrades for the day and your help for the long way!”, Mr. Da’prof answered.

“If you say comrades...”

“Yup, they all are of the same race as me!”, he interjected as if reading Elijah’s mind.

Now was not the time to dwell on a single question so Elijah quickly suppressed his curiosity to ask

more about the Gear-Humans and instead focused on his own information and their validity.

Gaining access to an all-rounder-class. This was what he had expected but after Elijah opened his status

window for the first time, he noticed that the class was not yet granted to him. Furthermore, his mind

was already filled with other questions:

[Opening Status Window!]

A status in DToA is divided into two broad sections:

Section 1, the general section. Every relevant information about the player aside from his stats is

displayed here.

Section 2, the status section. This section is further divided into five subsections.

1) Health and rejuvenation

2) Physical fighting strength

3) Craftsmanship

4) Magic strength

5) Any other type of status

While the first and fourth subsection seem to be following a proportional stat increase, the rest are not

yet properly understood by the public. All we know is that increasing strength makes the power you can

input into your attacks stronger and increasing strength makes your reflexes faster(Information from

Master Loafpotato himself). But the CP-Level and Combat-Level were strangely skipped.

“I already learned about the status window before coming here but in this it says something about

Combat-Level and CP-Level. What does that mean, chief?”

The answer, that came back, was not spectacularly interesting.

“Hm? Yeah, don’t worry about it! It’s basically a way to rank the people by their stats! If you wanna

make it big in the combat rankings, you will be assigned to a group based on your Combat-Level or

CP-Level and compete against others of your caliber! But for now it really doesn’t have any meaning

to it.”

‘OK, so far so good.’, Elijah thought.

“All right, thanks chief! By the way, do you have any recommendations on assigning my stats for now?

Just for reference, I plan on being a close-range or middle-range attacker.”

He did not expect much of this question but it might prove useful to ease further into the conversation,

so Elijah asked regardless.

“Well since you haven’t yet gotten yourself a proper job this question is a difficult one, lad. But I can at

least give you some general pointers on the matter.”

Surprisingly Mr. Da’prof took the question quite seriously as he considered what to say.

He looked back at Elijah as the Gear-Human answered

“First you might want to decide your time of active combat. How fast do you want to beat your

enemies and how long do you plan on fighting?

For people with short combat time I recommend focusing on strength and speed in an equal ratio while

neglecting the other stats. Eventually you might need to increase your usage of skills, so investing

about 10-20% into intelligence might be worth it. Since you plan on fighting for short amounts of time,

a glass-cannon-build might be the most efficient, though I doubt it would be in your best interest.”

The man took a short break to take a breather before continuing, while Elijah continued listening to his

advice, mostly halfheartedly.

“If you plan on having a medium to high combat-time, then I recommend investing into stamina,

Longevity and vitality in that order. If you have spare points over, you can either invest into

intelligence and wisdom to increase your Mp-reserves for battles or save up the remaining points to use

them once you need them.”

“Why should I invest everything into defense? Isn’t it the point of the game to slay my enemies before

they can hit me? You might not know but a famous tactician once said that ‘offense if the best form of

defense’, Chief!”

The point of the game, implying that this isn’t a reality trying to kill him on every occasion.

You might not know, disregarding the possibility of Mr. Da’prof having been briefed on Earth’s culture

and history to deal with people of his kind.

surprised by such a small detail or the tower might not be the right place for you.>

Only a few moments into the tower and Elijah already payed heed to the wrong things from secretary

Elsa as he confidently blurted out these lines, seemingly forgetting the place he was supposed to be at.

Da’prof did not change his expression and continued with his usual energetic tone

“Well, if you say so you might be right! I am just one single person so who am I to deny your planet’s

long history, right kiddo?”, he said while nudging Elijah with his elbow.

“Don’t worry about it, really! By the way”

Elijah started

“I was told that I would be getting a class or job when entering this place, chief. Am I supposed to get it

later or did I do something wrong, chief?”

The chief just let out a hearty laugh and gestured for Elijah to look in front of the two of them.

Would the true ‘game’ finally begin?
