Chapter 2 Rewrite: Reborn

Chapter 2 Rewrite: Reborn

Yomi Rikoto woke up panting for air heavily coated in cold sweat. He got up off his broken couch and put on a purple shirt with a blue rose on it with a pair of black boots. Yomi just turned 15 he had been living on the streets for 4 years. Yomi’s parents were killed in a car accident when he was 7 years old. He was sent to foster home after foster home because 6 months after his 8th birthday he would suddenly have violent mood swings and constantly get into fights when something bothers or irritates him. Yomi walked up the broken and cracked stairs to the bathroom and brushed his teeth. He stared at his reflection in the broken mirror. Yomi had dark black hair that's shoulder length and bright green eyes that shone in the dark he also stood about 6’3. He never went to gym but his body was well muscled from years of underground fights to survive. Yomi only had a couple of scars 2 on his chest that crossed over his left pectoral and one that split his bottom lip just at the corner. His face had a mask of indifference but if you really paid attention to his eyes you could see the pain and loneliness. He knew he had a lot to do today so he decided to leave. He walk down the stairs and opened the front door. It was early so it wasn’t that many cars or people around.

Yomi:” Maybe I should visit the orphanage today. The mother is usually up about now”

Yomi had a lot of fond memories of the orphanage playing with the little kids that be there. He may seem cold and emotionless to other people but he enjoyed the company of the little ones they just seemed so small and innocent free of hatred, greed, or prejudice. It didn’t take him long to get there. He politely knocked on the door and an older woman came to the door. She had light brown hair and hazel eyes. She stands about 5’8 and was dressed in a comfortable free flowing robe. Her name was Lilith Raikins. She stared at Yomi with a small smile. She was used to seeing him he would help around with the children and repair what was damaged or needed to be replaced.

Lilith:” What brings you by this time a morning?”

Yomi:” I just wanted to visit.”

She could tell something was bothering him but she wasn’t going to force him to talk.

Lilith:” Yeah come on in.”

Yomi stepped through the door and heard the sound of shuffling and footsteps upstairs. Yomi look around it was still the same as he remembered no new damage was anywhere. Yomi face pulled into a smile maybe the little ones were learning some form of self-control. He was suddenly tackled by a little missile that wrapped around his waist. He looked down to find a little girl with bright blue eyes looking up at him. Her hair color was strawberry blonde hair and was wearing a little white dress with flowers on it. In her had was a little blue teddy bear. This was little Annie Rockwell she was only 8 years old and clung to him like glue every time he was here.

Annie:” Hurray big brother’s back!”

He quickly scooped her up into a big hug eliciting a little squeal from her. Every time one of them called him big brother a warm feeling would rise in his chest maybe it was happiness. The only other time he remembered being happy was watching anime with his mom or reading light novels. He also liked nature because it was so peaceful and quiet and cooking because it helped him relax. Yomi began to tickle her as she began to let out pleasant giggles. While holding Annie in his arms he walked towards the kitchen with Lilith following behind him. Annie’s eyes lit up.

Annie:” Brother are you going to make breakfast. Your cooking is great unlike Lilith’s”

Lilith looked like she had been struck.

Lilith:” My cooking isn’t that bad is it?”

Annie:” You set fire to water and made the microwave explode.”

Lilith had a cloud of depression over her head and began to draw circles on the flood. Yomi did something that surprised even himself he began to laugh not a cold and cruel one when he’s fighting but a genuine happy and joyful laugh it sounded like music. Lilith and Annie stopped what they were doing and looked shocked. They had seen him with a slight smile but never truly laugh like this. Lilith had a slight blush on her face when he laughed it cause something to stir in her heart. The laughter slowly subsided Yomi wiped tears from his eyes

Yomi:” Thank you I needed that. Well while that was interesting, it's about time I get started on breakfast.”

Over the next few minutes Yomi proceed to make breakfast as the rest of the orphans came down. He made bacon and eggs omelets with dice fruit. Soon breakfast was over and he made his way over to the door

Yomi:” I think it’s about time for me to leave. Take care everyone.”

Orphans:” SEE YOU LATER YOMI!”

The orphans didn’t know why Yomi always left and not be heard from for days he always returned a little roughed up never seriously injured. Yomi walked down the street towards the shadier side of town. In a back alley was a metal door with some sort of metal sliding slot just about eye level. Yomi knocked on the door 3 times. The slot slid open and a pair of brown eyes peered out

Unknown:” If a star is born in the emptiness of space alone was it truly there?”

Yomi:” Even in the dark something beautiful can exist.”

Unknown:” Correct you can come in.”

The door swung open to reveal a man dressed in a dark grey suit and short blonde hair smoking a cigarette. This was Lucas Watch

Lucas:” It’s been 2 weeks Yomi your schedule is packed with fights.”

Yomi:” Yeah they're all the same.”

Lucas:” Wish I could have that much confidence.”

Yomi eyes hardened the room he walked unto was full of thugs and mafia members.

Yomi:” I need to talk to the boss.”

The atmosphere in the room turned serious. Nobody talked to the boss without it being serious. No one moved to stopped him as he made his way to the room in the back. Yomi was known for being brutal most just call him Yami the god of darkness. Yomi knocked on the door. A gruff voice answered

Unknown:” Come in.”

Yomi entered the room at the man sitting behind a desk smoking a cigar. He was a middle age man with a heavier built and one grey eyes that was blind while the other was black. He was the leader of the underground fighting ring Marcus Lodes.

Marcus:” Ah Yomi my most prized fighter. What can I do for you on this fine day?”

Yomi:” To tell you the truth what I’m about to say you might disagree with.”

Marcus:” What is it?”

Yomi:” I want out of the ring.”

Marcus was visibly shook. His best fighter wanted out of the business. He must have a pretty good reason for making such a decision

Marcus:” Now why would you want to do that?”

Yomi:” It’s just I don’t want to put anyone at the orphanage in any more danger than what they already are.”

Marcus:” How about we make a deal. You finish up this weeks’ worth of fights and I’ll let you go without a hassle.”

Yomi:” Deal!”

Yomi walked out of the office with his face blank but happiness in his eyes

Lucas:” So what did you talk to boss about?”

Yomi:” Once I finish up this weeks’ worth of fights he’s letting me go.”

Lucas:” Congratulations! That’s wonderful news.”

Yomi:” Yeah I couldn’t believe it myself.”

This was the happiest moment of his usually when someone tried to leave they would be silenced permanently. But due to his deal he could get away with no repercussion. Yomi knew it was the right decision but part of his mind wanted to keep fighting to constantly feel the adrenaline coursing through his veins every time he fight. To hear the crowd calling his name was addicting and he knew it but he also craved for recognized and respected even if it meant everyone feared him as well. But he knew he had to stop he had lots of people chasing him. He didn’t want children getting hurt because of something he did or the people after him. Yomi headed towards the door he had a bad felling in his stomach he knew something was wrong. Yomi went from walking to speed walking into an all-out sprint. His first destination was the orphanage. He’ll be damned if he would let anyone of them get hurt. Yomi kicked in the door and rushed inside what he found made his blood boil. The children were tied up with a few bruises on their body. Standing in the middle of the room was 4 goons and the person at the center of it all was a tall man that reminded him of a snake. He had long black hair, sickly yellow eyes, and slightly sharp face with a cruel smirk.

Yomi:” Who are you and what do you want?”

Creed:” They call me Creed and what I want is my money I lost to you in that rigged match.”

Yomi:” All right just don’t hurt the children.”

Creed:” You really do care for these brats. Don’t tell me are little God of darkness is getting soft on us. Maybe I should take one of their fingers.”

Yomi face turned into a ruthless snarl of barely restrained hate and utter loathing.

Yomi:” LISTEN TO ME YOU SICK FUCK! YOU TOUCH ONE HAIR ON ANYONE OF THEIR HEADS I’LL PEEL YOUr SKIN WITH A SPOON, RIP YOUR ARM OUT ITS SOCKET AND BEAT YOU WITH IT. BREAK YOU LEGS AND GOUGE OUT YOUr EYES AS YOU BLEED TO DEATH!”

The others were startled at the rage Yami was showing. He only let those close to him see some of his emotions mainly a smile or amusement. This scared them slightly but seeing him this made them truly feel special knowing they held such sway over his heart and emotions. Creed was shocked as well this was supposed to be the emotionless Yami, The Demon, The Monster.

Creed:” So the demon is getting soft on us. Grab the girl and make sure he doesn’t try anything.”

One of the goons roughly pulled a girl off the floor bruising her arms. She whimpered a let out a single tear. All restraint was immediately broken. Yomi rushed towards the man with incomparable speeds and proceeded to punch the man so hard in the throat his trachea was launched out the back of his neck. The other goons took action but it was for naught Yomi’s fury burned like a wildfire the bone crushing blows and kicks he unleashed upon them turn their anger into fears as he beat them mercilessly. When the last one fell Yomi felt a sharp pain in his left lung. A knife had been driven into his back.

Creed:” Well this is the end for you. You shouldn’t have let your guard down.”

Yomi’s body was sluggish he was drowning on his feet but with nothing but pure willpower he grabbed Creed by his neck and with a powerful twist his neck was broken his eyes felt heavy. He knew he shouldn’t but he decided to rest for a while.”
